More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I became a vegan on April 21, 2012. The last thing to go was the cream in my coffee. I listened to a podcast by Vegan Author and Speaker Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, where she talked about the life of a dairy cow. I no longer needed cow's milk in my coffee, or any other animal products. I enjoy discovering the wide array of plant-based foods. My wife turned vegan first and inspires me to stay on the journey.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
HappyCow is a great resource. I've used the search engine many times in my travels, and also to check locally for any new vegan or veg-friendly restaurants.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Sage in L.A. impressed me. I've also had amazing food at Herbivore in San Francisco and Berkeley. The first time I had Buffalo-style cauliflower wings was at Mohawk Bend in L.A., and they make some great vegan sausage for their pizza too.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Colleen Patrick-Goudreau got me started on tofu scramble (from her book, The 30-Day Vegan Challenge). Engine 2 Diet has the best Mac and (no) Cheese recipe.
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
The Sun Magazine is often inspiring. Wish I knew of a vegan magazine to recommend. Sometimes there are good things in Vegetarian Times, but since I'm a vegan I find less and less to like about the so-called vegetarian diet.
