Cream filled - Edit
It's been a very long time since I've had a cream filled doughnut. They were large doughnuts. Good amount of bread to doughnut ratio.

Sugar overload - Edit
So thankful that Voodoo has vegan donut options! I haven’t had Voodoo donuts in years and I couldn’t believe how I used to smash 1 or even 2 of these giant sugary donuts in one sitting. I felt a little sick after eating just 1/2 of the vegan Old dirty bastard donut! Ended up having to scrape off some of the toppings. My favorite ended up being the vegan Boston crème😄

No line mid-day! - Edit
There was no line but the security guard was only letting people in one group at a time. Fortunately not a long wait and I tried the maple donut which was awesome! The other location off Sandy is better if you’re looking for somewhere to hang out and sit while eating.

Old Dirty Bastard in Dirty Old Town - Edit
I chose an Old Dirty Bastard, which is a raised ring with chocolate frosting, chocolate cream-filled cookies, and peanut butter drizzle. It's super sweet and fairly large, so I later regretted all the sugar, but it's a good occasional treat.

Pros: several vegan flavors, clearly-marked vegan doughnuts online and in shop
Cons: busy

Best Doughnuts - Edit
I first tried Voodoo Doughnut back in April while in Denver, Colorado. I fell in love with the donuts and tried a few different flavors. Was visiting Portland for a few days and they were at the top of my list. Ordered the Voodoo Doll, plain glaze, Apple fritter, Portland cream, and the chocolate ring (all ordered vegan). Somehow they were even better than I remembered them to be.

Decent vegan donuts - Edit
We tried a few old dirty bastards because voodoo is across the street from our hotel. The donuts were pretty good, not overly impressed but they were close by. This place has nothing on big-o donuts in SLC.

Is it worth it? - Edit
A friend wanted to go here and try it even after I warned them it was just an over hyped tourist trap donut shop.

NOT overhyped - Edit
The line is really long, but their vegan doughnuts are the best I have ever had (I think including non-vegan doughnuts, but I have not had a non vegan doughnut in a long time). We tried the vegan raised glaze, vegan chocolate ring, and vegan maple bar. They were so light and fluffy that I would have questioned their veganness had I not seen the cashier click the vegan button.

Best place when you’re drunk - Edit
Loved loading up on their classic donuts after drinking all night. I especially love the maple bar, lemon filled, and custard filled donuts. I still can’t believe they’re vegan!

The BEST donuts - Edit
Absolutely loved the donuts! Had a little wait in the cue to get in, but nothing major. The local area appears to be fairly popular with the homeless, but I never felt “unsafe” or harassed, there is also a security guard on the door which I’m sure helps. Either way I wouldn’t give them any less than four stars - especially for something completely out of their control

Good vegan donut selection👍 - Edit
Waited an hour in line being screamed at my homeless telling me how pathetic I was for waiting in line for a donut but it was worth it.
Read moreI was surprised to see how many vegan donuts they had! Went ahead and got the vegan dozen and the donuts were so big they were well worth the price.
Also literally cannot tell they are vegan. Tastes exactly like a non vegan donut. they are super tasty. 100% agree with other reviewers. I've struggled to find non-cake vegan donuts. So I was happy these just tasted like a classic donut!
Not the best donuts I've had but they are still pretty damn good.

Tourist spot and some locals do eat here as well, but they are most famous for their concept. They get major points for creativity, but the donuts are just okay in my opinion.

Must-try donuts - Edit
The reviews don’t lie, these donuts were amazing. While there were a lot more non-vegan options, there was still a full tray to choose from. The Portland cream was incredible and the voodoo doll was really well done. I was kind of worried that the donuts would be over-stuffed as I read online, but they were not at all. Also the donuts didn’t immediately go stale and hard, so we were able to enjoy them later in the day as well (after buying too many lol)

Ok, definite a bit overhyped as a tourist destination (do people from PDX actually go here?). However, I, as a tourist, always stop here when I am in town because where else can you get such unique vegan donut options? Portland creme, dirt, voodoo doll, etc.

Voodoo Doughnut is the only place where I've had a vegan donut that wasn't a cake donut. We tried the glazed one and the "dirt" one (covered with Oreo cookies), and they were both amazing. I hope to go back soon!
