Delicious Mexican style food - Edit
They provided good and fast service. Had plenty of options to choose from. The oyster mushroom tacos were so delicious. I would suggest doubling up on the tortillas though as they easily break. Also, the red beans could have used more salt. #Veganuary

Oyster mushroom tacos and coconut horchata mocktail - Edit
Belden Place is one of those SF food alleys that I would typically avoid but Happy Cow led me to Vida. It is very near my timeshare so I hope to return and try the rest of the menu. The waitress recommended other items as most popular but I’m glad I went with intuition. The mushrooms were very lightly breaded and crispy fried in a Baja style tacos.

Don’t Miss this Plant Based Mexican Cantina - Edit
Eat here, hard stop! I have been trying to make it I here for a quick minute but work/fate intervened.
Read moreWell I finally made it in and it did not disappoint. From the house made chilès and salsas to the creative cocktail list. I had the asada tacos, and they were on point (and also HUGE). The textures and flavors were balanced and the love and authenticity shown through. Vida Cantina just replaced one of my spots on regular rotation when I am in town.
Pros: Friendly Owner and Staff, Great Music

Wowww - Edit
Evette hit it out-of-the park! I had tacquitos, tacos, and enchiladas, and they were heavenly! I keep coming back because of the food, but also because she has such a delightful and wonderful soul, which results in unparalleled hospitality. Check out Vida Cantina!

Such good food and drinks - Edit
Vida cantina is one of those magical vegan bar/restaurants that could easily be a regular spot. Come inside, have a good drink, order some nachos and not even realize they are plant-based until you finish. It’s deceptively good, so delicious, and a perfect place to convert meat eaters to the great vegan food and have a great cocktail while doing it!

Great ambiance accompanied by delicious Mexican dishes and drinks. I loved
Read morethe music as well.
We went there during Happy hour and got sangria and margarita. We also ordered mom's taquitos and enchiladas, which Evette( owner) knocked out of the ballpark. Absolutely mouth-watering! We are looking forward to coming back for more food!! :)

Absolutely amazing place! - Edit
It was a huge pleasure to spend my evening in Vida Cantina. It was my first evening in SFO and was looling for somewhere to eat. Ended up going to VC. What a great decision it was!!! The place is incredible, the vibe, the people, the food. Don't know what I liked the most to be honest. I ended up sitting behind the bar as I was on my own. Lovely lady called Evette took my order and we ended up chatting. Turned out she is the owner. She was so kind and welcoming. Honestly, VC is one of the friendliest places I have visited. My buritto took a while as the ace was very busy so Evette send me some free nachos with salsa. What a lovely gesture! And when my buritto arrived, OMG it was totally worth the wait! It was so delicious!!!! I pretty much hoovered it up😆 It really was mouth watering and so full of flavour! I cannot wait to try the rest of the menu soon! Thanks for a wonderful experience Evette! I really hope Vida Cantina does great!

Flavorful food, let down by bad experience - Edit
Decided to try this place on my birthday based on the great reviews. Be aware this place is a cantina and the atmosphere is loud bar music and lots of cocktails/drinks that doesn’t quite match the gourmet food.
Read moreEverything was amazing and very flavorful, though several of the dishes appear to be based on the same ingredients, and I felt some contrast would have gone down well. Flavor is dialed up to 11.
Arrived early for our 7:45 reservation and they happily seated us, it was maybe 25% full. All the food we ordered arrived at the same time, chips/salsa, tacos, enchiladas, queso fundidohh, all was very enjoyable. It would have been nicer a little spaced out. By 8:15 the place had filled up. I was ready to order birthday dessert when the waitress loudly slapped down our check in a glass and walked away making us feel pressured to pay and leave when I really wanted to enjoy another drink and some dessert. When she came back I asked what desserts they offered and she said “I’m the chef, I just don’t have time to make desserts”. For sure she and one other waiter had been kept very busy waiting the tables and making fancy cocktails, but that felt like a double insult although I’m sure she didn’t intend it that way. Had we been drinking cocktails I feel certain we wouldn’t have been pressured to give up the table so early (just 30 mins after our reservation time). It left a bad taste and spoiled my birthday. I rarely experience this.
Not sure what restaurant experience they have, but the money making is clearly from drinks and cocktails and they wanted to seat customers who would order expensive drinks rather than satisfy already seated diners. Looks like they need to stay open later as the bulk of their customers seem to come after 8 and they close at 9. They need more staff and some lessons in how to treat customers. We didn’t feel valued which is an unusual experience for us.
We’ll go back, but it’s a gourmet fast food bar with a loud beat music place far more than a fine dining experience and I wouldn’t recommend it for a special occasion unless you plan to drink cocktails to excess or just want to eat quickly and move on.

Pros: Amazingly tasty flavorful dishes

Go to Vida Cantina IMMEDIATELY! - Edit
OMG, Vida Cantina had THE BEST plant-based Mexican food we have ever had, we were SOOOO excited to find this place! The food was exceptional (my family and I tried several things!)...so fresh and original, yet hearty and well-priced, and made with love. The Enchiladas Rojas had the most amazing red sauce I have ever tasted. The owner, Evette, was so friendly and sweet. Even though we were only in San Francisco for a few days, we made sure to make time to return here more than once. It was such a treat to find a fully plant-based, authentic downtown Mexican restaurant, we don't have anything like this where we live! Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend!!

Great new vegan option in downtown SF - Edit
This new Mexican themed vegan restaurant is a great addition to the SF vegan food scene. Surprisingly (to me) there aren't a ton of exclusively vegan restaurants, and this one offers some tasty eats and delicious drinks with and without alcohol. Almost everything is or can be made gluten free as well! It's located on Belden Lane, in the financial district.

Delicious vegan Mexican food - Edit
Vegan Mexican in the fidi district of SF! I attended the soft opening and fell in love. Their food is fresh, delicious and flavorful. I was impressed to hear that the chef makes all of their vegan cheeses, salsas and sauces. Some of my favorites were the tacos, queso fondidohh and pamboza. I also love their cocktail menu! I tried the coconut lavender horchata mocktail. And I also loved the special cocktail “I’m in love w the coco” served in a coconut. Yummm I can’t wait to go back.

¡Fantastica! - Edit
I went for their grand opening on Cinco de Mayo, and the food and drinks were delicious. The queso fundido was a pleasant surprise, as was the cauliflower arroz.
Read moreI don’t think they were expecting as many people that actually showed up, and we did feel like the speed at which our orders were being filled slowed significantly as the partygoers continued to increase. But the staff did their best to deliver.
I am looking forward to returning for more: thank you, Evette and the entire Vida Cantina team!
