My favorite vegan restaurant in El Nido - Edit
We went there for dinner 2 times during our stay in El Nido and the food was the best we’ve had during our trip! The menu is varied and with some very interesting dishes!
Read moreMy partner had an upset stomach and they were very accommodating to adapt the dishes and remove ingredients without compromising on flavour.
The customer service was also great and the food was served relatively quickly compared to other restaurants we’ve been to in the Philippines.
Pros: Very delicious meals, Nice athmosphere, Great customer service
Cons: They didn’t have most of the desserts on the menu

Great restaurant, great atmosphere, great staff and overall tasty and good looking food. Went here since the Ver De Restaurant in Puerto Princesa has convinced already.

Partially the same named food is different in the two branches e.g. the Shroom Melt Burger has different patty, bun and side.

Fantastic options - Edit
A beautifully diverse menu and everything tasted lovely (Fiesta bowl) and Dan Dan noodles!
Read moreIt’s the most expensive vegan place I have encountered in SE Asia (prices from 400-800 per dish) but it’s an awesome ‘treat’ or ‘date night’.
Good sized portions.
Went at lunch and had exceptional service.
A beautiful setting too.

We visited Ver de multiple times during our 3 days in El Nido, and they did not disappoint! Quite happy overall - way better than the limited alternatives.

Lovely dining experience - Edit
Nice and calm inside compared to the busy street outside. Staff were attentive and the food was delicious, it was a bit more than the usual cost for food and a drink but was worth it as the style is more upmarket. Still a bargain!

Quite pricy, bit underwhelming - Edit
I picked the ‘Rasta pasta’ which was described as a Cajun style pasta with tofu. Unfortunately the only thing I could taste was rosemary which was really off putting and didn’t fit the style of the dish. My partner had the buffalo burger which was better, but was more like sriracha tofu in a bun. Such a shame as the staff were so friendly and the spot was lovely. There was SO much choice which was really refreshing, so I feel like perhaps I just picked badly! The food also took nearly an hour to come, but they were extremely busy with some very large tables. This was also by far the most expensive meal we have had in the Philippines.

Highlight of my El Nido trip - Edit
I went to Ver De literally every single day while in El Nido. Unfortunately I only m didn’t go in my last day because I tried to go in the morning and apparently until 11am is or was that day only for guests staying at the hotel!? (Check to make sure it’s accurate?!). Paradise for vegans! I really wanted to try their pancakes in my last day and I left El Nido without trying them.

Our lovely meal was ruined, others will not return - Edit
Update to my original post (which I’ve left as written) below:
Read moreAs hotel guest, we went in twice more, as well as had three breakfasts in here.
Lots of dishes unavailable when we asked for them. Same with drinks. Even though we were hotel guests, service remained awful (the staff all look the part, but they are generally all feckless).
I’m going to be cruel to be kind here, to try and attract the attention of the management (and hope they address)
To be clear, this place is a 5* vegan restaurant.
We ordered our starter and main, as Europeans do.
Not even halfway through our starters, the mains arrive.
We DO understand this is the Asian way, but this place is 80% European clientele (conservatively).
Our dinner was ruined. We ended up trying to finish our starter, then switching to a half cold main, then having the rest of our very cold starters at the end. It created stress, it ruined the food and if you are going to call them starters and mains, then PLEASE keep them way apart. If no one in the restaurant has been to Europe, ask your guests! And please ask them every time! 97 out of 100 Europeans will say they would like their starters separately (with a small gap)
When we talked to the waitress, she seemed gobsmacked that piling up main courses on top of starters stressed out customers. She told us that the kitchen gets busy and just sends them out.
We tried to explain that the kitchen isn’t in charge: it’s the consumer if you want a healthy business. She said she would talk to them but just don’t think they will listen. So hoping management read and action. Please?
What will happen here is that no vegans will come in because they were told the food is wonderful, and not like it, because of the rushed service. Then you miss out on tables served because they won’t come back, won’t recommend to friends.
We desperately want you to be a success and make others fall in love with vegan food and stop killing animals for no reason. Please comment on this and address?!

Amazing healthy vegan options - Edit
Absolutely loved this restaurant, we ate our way through half the menu and everything was delicious. We stayed at the H Hotel so breakfast here was included as well - such good portion sizes and the pancakes are amazing. Overall, super healthy fresh food and had good super food options too (turmeric latte, vegan protein etc) which is very rare in the Philippines!

Amazing food and fabulous atmosphere - Edit
We loved this restaurant - upscale food but relaxed atmosphere. Dress nice or be in a swim clothes is fine too - we stayed in the attached hotel and LOVED breakfast too (can only get if you stay in the H Hotel). I tiny bit pricier than the “street food” obviously but not a problem - you get what you pay for. Excellent for the cost (which is still way cheaper than the US!)

Generous portions and on point flavours - Edit
I ordered the fiesta bowl with jackfruit carnitas, Cuban beans, corn kernels, pico de gallo and chipotle cream on brown rice. It was such a warm, comforting bowl with the right spices and the portions were hefty. My friend ordered the all-day breakfast pancakes with banana, strawberry, coconut, chocolate sauce, and granola. The portion was also extremely generous. Service was efficient and friendly. Totally recommend coming here for a treat!

Delicious! - Edit
Ate here twice. It’s slightly more ‘up-market’ than other restaurants in El Nido which is reflected in the price although not much more expensive than other vegan restaurants in El Nido. It’s described as plant-based fine-dining. We had the smoked tempeh bagel sandwich and the tofu-rizo tacos for lunch which were very tasty. Even better were the pasta dishes. The Rasta pasta was incredible - creamy, spiced with veggies and “chick’un”, and the bolognese was great! Would recommend for a nice dinner experience in El Nido.

A health focused vegan restaurant where they even offer kombucha and don’t put any alcohol on the menu (although they do have some wine). There weren’t many people eating there, so it didn’t feel super cosy. But the food was really good!

Casual Fine Dining that will have you Returning - Edit
Ver De is located in central El Nido town inside of the city’s most modern building. The modern aesthetics of steel, wood, and giant glass windows seems excessive and absurd across the street from thatched roofs.
Read moreAs you enter, the natural charms and beauty of the town give way to exceptionally attentive and friendly customer service and air conditioning.
You’ll have trouble choosing from all the attractive vegan menu items. My first go I ordered a delicious, nutritious, and filling rice bowl, kombucha, and brownie. Later I had my go at two of their burgers. The burgers and fries are among the best I’d eaten in SE Asia.
The prices are high here, true. But the prices in El Nido are significantly higher than in similar locations in Thailand and Indonesia. You get what you pay for.
