Probably won’t eat here again.

Now, look. I’m being a tad bit harsh but I feel like I need to be. Walked in, nobody seemed interested in serving us. After choosing my own table and menus we had to again cal the waitress over, first experience where this has happened. The menu was definitely quite good, however my partner tried ordering a meal, all good. Lady comes out 10 minutes later ‘sorry we are sold out’. Well sorry but 10 minutes after we order our food should be well under way. Out comes my partners drink (also 10 minutes after we order) still waiting however for my drink. 30 minutes goes by......no food yet... then food miraculously turns up, still I have no drink. I kindly say to the waitress ‘excuse me I still am waiting for my can of drink’ she says ‘O.K’ comes back 5 minutes later, ‘Sorry no drink left’. So after my awesome experience here, I am glad to say, I probably won’t be back in a hurry. Sorry but to not have half your menu and then on top of that no drink, why bother opening your doors.

Cons: Too many too list, unfortunately.

Yummy vegan veggie burgers!

A lot of interesting vegan options. Veggies burgers, falafel and hummus, veggies dishes, pasta etc. After 2months spent in SE asia, it was refreshing to get a veggie burger with French fries. Don't get me wrong, I love Lao kitchen but it was nice to have something different here. Oh, and try their homemade green iced tea with lemon, yummy and again, so refreshing!

Pros: nice vegan options

Cons: a little pricey but portion size is decent

Great veggie place in town

Veggie Tables is a Jai restaurant serving mostly vegan food (some cheese are used for pasta). The menu is huge, from Laotian and Thai cuisine to international ones: pad thai, soups, fried tofu dishes, noodles, burgers, hummus and falafels, English breakfast... And fresh juices. I've been there many times and was not disappointed. The food is flavorful (but sometimes a bit too salty) and generous in portion size related to the prices (low for Laos). The staff is familial and friendly and the off-season wait is reasonable. The place is simple but central. I recommend a stop!

Pros: good traditional and international food, huge choice, inexpensive, mostly vegan, friendly staff, central location

Cons: not 100% vegan, a bit salty

Very fatty

The place is really chilled and the owner is super nice. Portions are huge, we ordered two burgers and they both came with deep fried patties. If you like really fatty, unhealthy food, this is your place.

Pros: Good prices, Huge portions

Cons: Very fatty

okay food but nothing special imo

We ate here a few times because vegan options are pretty limited in Vang Vien, nothing we ate was bad but nothing was really special either. This restaurant definitely deserves some credit for being the only vegetarian place in town, but don't expect great culinary pleasures.

cheesy pumpkin burger is tastey!

Pumpkin burger was huge and tasted but to my surprise it came with cheese mixed in the patty. When I’m traveling I make exceptions to what I eat so I didn’t mind but they really should have labels on their menu. With that said I would return:). Staff wasn’t overly friendly but I didn’t get any attitude either.

Pros: only vegetarian restaurant in town

Cons: don’t know what in your order

Dunno really

We came here because we believed it was pretty much one of the only places we could eat in Vang Vieng. The staff were okay, the younger girl was quiet, but the father was quite cheery and helpful!

We had been eating nothing but Asian for a while, so decided to try something different with the pasta no cheese and the falafel. Both were okay, but not something I would necessarily order again. We went back to try some Asian dishes, the satay tofu and morning glory. Initially both were nice, but after a few bites were a little too salty for us. We also ordered their Lao green tea, and that was bloody brilliant!

We ended up wandering and finding other places with plenty of tofu dishes that we’re going to try instead.

Pros: Vegetarian (with vegan options) , Good green tea! , Cheap

Cons: Average food

It's okay

The food was decent and had good flavor. they were out of my first two options. not sure if that's a regular thing or just my luck of the straw.

While the food was ok, I don't think I'd recommend or return here simply because of the staff and the restaurant atmosphere.

I prepared myself for the staff here after reading others reviews. It was my goal to get them to smile and be engaging and boy did I fail. Haha. My entire time there, not one word came out of their mouth. They wouldn't even greet me in Lao "sabaidee," they just gave me a look as if I was interrupting their downtime. After giving me the menu and some time to look it over, I tried to order the falafel, but the girl just shook her head. After asking what or why she just kept shaking her head. After the second attempt at another dish that she shook her head to, I ended up with veggie fried rice. (I was really hoping for something different since this fully vegetarian restaurant, but oh well. Like it said earlier, it was decent.) :-/

When I asked for the Wifi password, I kid you not, the girl rolled her eyes and began writing on her notepad, and then gently tossed it onto the table.

Mind you, I don't need tons of attention from the staff at any restaurant, but just a smile and uttering any words would have been nice. When I left, all the energy around my shifted to happiness again.

Pros: decent food, it's vegetarian

Cons: staff, staff, staff

"Okay"

It is the only veg place in town, but thats it. The food ist not traditional Thai, more a tourist thai, traditional Herbst are missing, and the staff is more intersted in their TV and their smartphone.

Good food, lots of options

The only full veggie place in town which is a bit of a saviour because it's very meat heavy everywhere else. Some good food, with lots of styles of food including Lao's take on Turkish food. Would go back again

Amazing Food. Nice People

What a great place.
No English is no problem because I should speak Lao :-).
Just ask what is available on the menu and point to what you want. They know what the word Vegan is,its written in English, on the front of there restaurant.
I had a delicious fried vegan vegie and rice dish for 30000 kip.. And now so much more. Try the ice fruit drinks.
I have been going there every day since I have been in Vang Vieng. And will travel back here just for there food and the stunning scenery and cool people.
You never know who is employed in vegan and vegetarian restaurants. But I found there all good people, just trust the owners :-)

Pros: Organic locally produced Vegan Food is yummy.

Cons: None at all. great atmosphere. Traditional place

There are better options

I came here based on other reviews and ended up pretty frustrated. I read that the staff wasn't great, however it was worse than I thought. They were 100%unresponsive. One woman completely ignored us as she played on her phone. I finally had to walk into the kitchen just to get her attention. She then yelled at her child to serve us. They did not speak English so I could not clarify if my dish was 100% vegan or just vegetarian. I translated it for them but they walked away. I played it what I hope was safe with falafel. The food took about 30 to 40 minutes to arrive and was just decent.

Cons: not worth the money, rude staff, food takes foreve

Good place to eat

Veggie tables offers vegetarian and vegan versions of traditional lao and thai dishes and burgers. The portions are huge and we had hard time finishing it. However the staf is not really friendly and almost no English is spoken. These are the big cons.

Updated from previous review on 2017-02-27

Pros: Rasy to find, Good food

Cons: Unfriendly staf, Staf doesnt speak English

Decent food from the only veggie restaurant in town

Good location on the main street of Vang Vieng (opposite the KMart). Decent range of menu options including local dishes, breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches and salads. Good value for money and the food was tasty but a bit too oily for me. Service was good considering only one member of staff on duty but frustrating that drink was served after meal arrived.

Pros: Variety of menu, Reasonable Price

Cons: Loud music from bar next door, Drinks took a long time to arrive

delishhh

The mushroom/veggie burger was amazingly delicious. (the portion of french fries that came with it was not so big) Their falafel hummus plate was very good only i like my hummus with a lot of lime but she was happy to give me a lime when I asked. The staff are calm and friendly. The little girl that was walking around gave me the menucard and helped me with putting ketchup on my plate. So cute. :)

Epic wait times

Oh wow, was this place fun. First off, the food is actually pretty good, especially for somewhere as achingly soulless as Vang Vieng. We ate here a couple of times, and both occasions were pretty identical. The staff were friendly and took our order, then seemed to get up to all kinds of hi jinks in the kitchen while we contemplated dying of old age. I have honestly never waited this long for food, anywhere. We watched other tables quietly seething with anger as the staff cheerfully told them their food would be with them soon, only to leave them waiting a further twenty minutes or so. Chefs seemed to come and go, one arriving from the street with a bag of vegetables as another walked through the restaurant and out down the road. To top it all, they don't serve drinks until your food arrives, so you can't even take the edge off it all. On one occasion, we were the only people eating in there, and still the food took forever. The killer thing is, the food is actually damn good. An amazing mushroom larp, decent papaya salad, and a tasty veg burger. I suppose you can't rush greatness. Worth the wait? Maybe...

Pros: Fantastic food

Cons: Staggeringly long wait times

ok

cheated on us with the change and just gave us 18.000kip to less. they definitely must have known this because we were the only customers at that stage and they made us wait really long for it because they had to search. obviously they didn't have enough change as they gave us very small notes as change as well.
however we were really disppointed about this since we had been there a couple of times and would have excepted honesty atleast..
unless that the food is ok. they don't react on extra wishes. don't take the papaya salad. he offered us "medium hotness" and I barely could eat something of it because it was definitely not medium spicy!

decent vegan burgers!

I really liked the vegan pumpkin burger. It's quite a big portion too!

As many vegetarian and vegan places they do not serve beer or any other alcohol. I guess I'll never understand that :)

Talked to some people who have been going there for a 2nd time and I'll do the same for sure.

Pros: great food, nice service

Cons: no alcohol, loud music in the place next doors

awesome place

The food is very tasty first and foremost. Also very fresh ingredients, and we are eating here every day for a week.

They say it's organic too. In such a small town it's rare to find healthy places, so go for it!

Pros: cheap, healthy, organic

Cons: none
