Read moreI verified in person that they still have vegan options but other family member have came to help the business and changed it to a non-vegan establishment.
Pros: It used to be vegan, sadly no more... :(

Veggie garden used to be fully vegan but changed its name to Glorious Garden and serves meat. We used to order weekly but won’t be ordering again because we’re heartbroken.

Great to see a fully vegan Chinese takeway, with such an extensive choice.
Read moreWe ordered the salt and chilli chips, a tofu curry and a sweet and sour tofu, both with rice.
The salt and chilli chips were great, and my tofu curry was well spiced and flavourful, but the sweet and sour tofu was just lacking that quality. Some tofu in both dishes were also chewy, which was a shame.

Most takeaways seem to use the mock meat tinned variety, which I'm not a fan of. Tofu always for me, but like you I was expecting more from here.

I’m never happy when a place uses the tinned mock meats with dimples on the exterior to mimic plucked skin. Tofu all the way for me too. However, my dish here had silken tofu in it which did not work at all.

Of all places, the quaint little Harrogate suburb of Starbeck has a great little vegan Chinese take away. I was slightly disappointed with my mapo tofu which was quite bland and made with silken tofu as well as not being as spicy hot as claimed on the menu. However, our salt and pepper fish starter was good and so was the chicken in black bean sauce. Chips, fried rice, curry and gravy sauces were also fine. The mock meats I suspect were the tinned variety which I always feel never rise to the occasion. Greasy, salty but all very tasty with plenty of leftovers for a late breakfast the next day. A rare Chinese fast food treat on a nice autumnal and celebratory day out on the train.

Staying in the area it was a must to try this all vegan Chinese takeaway. I ordered online for collection. I chose the Chick’n in OK sauce, fried rice and the Chick’n bao buns. Decent size portion and pretty good value. However quality for me wasn’t there, particularly with the bao buns which had a wedge of a very rubbery, tasteless mock meat with warm mayo and lettuce. The Chick’n in OK sauce was better, but for me lacked flavour. If in the area again I’d give it another try with some of their other dishes, their menu is vast.

We love the choice here. There’s pretty much every Chinese takeaway dish available beee, I’m not normally a massive takeaway fan but this is so tasty and feels quite healthy!

Food tasted amazing, the vegan meats are lovely and we tried a variety of the menu. From struggling to find options to having a whole menu is absolutely wild, I can't wait to try more dishes (I've been a vegetarian long enough I've never had the chance to try most meat dishes on a typical Chinese takeout menu).
Read moreThe salt and pepper chips are not the best but it's a worthy sacrifice for the rest of the menu. Most things came in cardboard boxes too so it's easier to recycle!
