Couldn’t be better! - Edit
Matt gave us a fantastic 3 day tour of Capetown. It was great to avoid having to rent a car and drive in an unfamiliar city. He picked us up at our hotel each morning and drove us to various sites, avoiding crowds and dropping us at attraction entrances while he dealt with parking. This was especially helpful at table mountain and he got us there ahead of the crowds so our wait in the queue was minimal. His knowledge of the area and easy conversation made the trip especially informative and enjoyable. His selection of vegan restaurants for lunch was fantastic and we greatly enjoyed each meal. We follow a whole food plant based diet which is more restrictive than straight vegan and he conveyed our needs to the restaurant proprietors ahead of time, making things that much easier for us. Top marks Matt! We will miss our new friend!

Great informative vegan wine tasting tour - Edit
We had an incredible day with Matt who has a real passion for South Africa, Cape Town, and supporting ethical businesses that although they might not be exclusively vegan, go out of their way to accommodate. Our first stop was Neethlingshof Vineyard which was great. We were shown around all of the wine making process by Matt and Asanda. Asanda’s patience in explaining clearly all of the nuance’s of the process in relation to different types of wines was really good. There were so many odd pieces of information that we found out such as white wine doesn’t generally go in barrels but oaked Chardonnay would, which gives it a much deeper flavour (we tried some and it was great). Also useful is that this vineyard and the last we visited are part of a scheme whereby you can select different wines from different vineyards and have them shipped home collectively. We then went to DeMorgenzon vineyard where we tasted some great wines, learnt a little more about “MCC wine” (essentially non-French champagne). This vineyard had such a different “boutique” feel with beautiful gardens and pond and they play classical music to the vines. Matt then took us to Lunch at Melfort which is an incredible restaurant with amazing attention to detail and Tazmin and her kitchen staff produced a fantastic vegan set menu which I cannot begin to describe. Finally, we went to Simonsig vineyard where we really explored six MCC sparkling wines which some of which were beautiful. We were very lucky to have a beautiful spring day allowing us to spend most of it outside enjoying the incredible scenery. Matt is English having lived in South Africa for 15 years which means that you get quite a unique insider/outsider perspective of South Africa and the way it is evolving. That’s a lot Matt for a great day!

Vegan Day Tour in Cape Town - absolutely worth it! - Edit
Read moreWe had a short stay in Cape Town and were looking for a vegan-friendly tour – and luckily found Matt. He didn’t just meet our expectations, he quietly and confidently exceeded them.
Our day trip took us from Cape Town down to the penguin beach, to the Cape of Good Hope, and back along the beautiful coastal road right in time for sunset. Many stops, so much to see and learn! We even saw wild ostriches and baboons – which was a real surprise, considering I’m usually the one who never sees any animals on trips🤪
Matt has a great sense of the area – both geographically and historically – and he knows the best vegan and vegan friendly restaurants and cafés (which we would have never discovered ourselves). Every stop was thoughtful, delicious, and relaxed.
We couldn’t have managed to organize or fit this much into a single day ourselves. The tour was smooth, very informative, well-paced, and completely stress-free.
Sustainability clearly matters to Matt, and we really appreciated his conscious, mindful approach throughout the day. He’s also an excellent and calm driver – we felt safe and comfortable the entire time.
It was a really special experience – full of great food, nature, and insights. We’ll definitely book another tour with Matt when we’re back – the vegan wine tour is already at the top of our list!
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to explore Cape Town in a thoughtful, local, and delicious way. Ein großes Dankeschön an Matt, bis bald!

100% reccommend booking a tour with Matt! - Edit
We had the most amazing day visiting 4 vineyards with Matt. The vegan lunch was also incredible. Matt has so much knowledge about the area and the different places we visited. All of the wine was delicious and we felt extremely comfortable and happy in Matt’s company. Can’t recommend this enough and I’m already planning on doing it again on my next visit.

Amazing day escape :) - Edit
We had the loveliest time with Matt driving around the Cape area, gasping at the most dramatic views, eating delicious vegan food, and befriending the world famous Boulder Beach penguins. Matt was a great tour guide and provided us with a lot of information and vegan restaurant recommendations. We would happily book again if we ever come back to Cape Town :)

Fabulous tour, food and host - Edit
We had the loveliest day with Matt and Vegan Tours Cape Town. Amazing, insightful tour of the Cape Peninsula and a delicious vegan afternoon tea. From my first enquiry Matt was so helpful offering recommendations outside of the tour as well as creating a bespoke day for us. It is always so lovely to connect with fellow vegans and learn more about the community in different parts of the world. Thank you Matt!

Absolutely Outstanding Service! - Edit
My fiancé, Mother and myself were visiting Cape Town in January 2024 and found Matt (Vegan Tours Cape Town) on Instagram and thought i'd see if he had any last minute availability for a tour!
Read moreNot only was Matt super fast in his response time, but he worked things around the plans we currently had to fit us in for a Wine Tour around Stellenbosch.
From the moment Matt picked us up to well after Matt dropped us off, his hospitality was second to none! A great host with great banter! Lots of interesting & knowledgable information on the local area and an all round great guy!
After the tour itself as we moved away from Cape Town, Matt kept in touch and gave us so many incredible recommendations of places we could go for food/drinks on the road!
If you are in or around Cape Town, then you don't want to miss out on the opportunity of getting in touch with Matt (Vegan Tours Cape Town) and getting a tour booked in!
Thank you so much Matt!

The only wine tour you need - Edit
We found Matt’s business after enquiring at a few different providers about a vegan wine tasting with no luck. Matt was offering exactly what we were looking for and also tailored his usual offerings to perfectly fit our day.
Read moreOn the wine tour itself it felt like we were hanging out with an old friend who was sharing his knowledge (and love) of Cape Town and the different vineyards. It’s clear Matt runs a wonderful, value driven business through his relationships with the different vineyards and we received world class service as a result.
If you are or have a vegan dietary requirement in your party I cannot recommend this experience enough. A jewel of a day in my holiday and I’m only sad we don’t get to do it again.
Pros: Knowledgable, Friendly , Accommodating

10/10 vegan experience in Cape Town! - Edit
Our favourite experience on holiday in South Africa thanks to Matt at ‘Vegan Tours Cape Town’. Such an informative, enjoyable day led by tour guide Matt who is so passionate about his company & the welfare of animals/environment in Cape Town. The day was perfectly organised with different eco-friendly wineries in the area who clearly have a professional relationship with Matt & treat his guests with the utmost kindness & warmth. Wish we could do it all over again, from 4 vegans- would highly recommend!

Most amazing private vegan winetour 🤩 - Edit
Matt took us to four different wine farms, which were each very special each in their own way. The tour doesn’t only go to wine farms with vegan wines/ food, on top of that Matt picked the ones, that are environmentally aware, animal friendly and try to reduce their waste. We had an amazing day trying different wines, olive oil, seeing the beautiful scenery and had an awesome four course lunch in the most beautiful place. Matt took care of us and ensured that we didn‘t have to worry about anything. Although he had everything scheduled, he managed to let us see all the places we wanted to see without feeling time pressured. He has a lot knowledge about the area and gave us tons of recommendations and valuable tips for our coming days in Cape Town. And most of all he is a super friendly guy who we loved to spend the day with! ☀️☺️

Wonderful day at the vineyards of Stellenbosch - Edit
Few weeks before travelling to Cape Town we hit up Matt to see if a wine tour could be arranged. This proved to be probably the best decision we could have made, as Matt (the tour guide) was able to find a free day in his calendar that he decided to spend with us. The whole tour was super enjoyable as we got to see different "types" of estates and got to taste incredible wines as well as meals. What is more, Matt was a brilliant tour guide with deep knowledge of the places we went to as well as incredibly easy to chat with, which made the whole day even better. He was also super helpful when recommending us many different vegan spots around Cape Town, so if you have not done your research, do not worry, Matt has got you covered.

Day with vegan tour guide - Edit
We spent the day with Matt, our vegan guide, who created our very own customised tour (Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Boulders Beach, Misty Cliffs, Chapmans Peak, etc). From the first email exchange, Matt was helpful and full of great suggestions! We were so excited for our day trip and it did not disappoint! It was lovely to be driven around the Cape by someone with such great local knowledge and information. We also enjoyed it as we could both relax and enjoy the surroundings and unbelievable landscape - thanks Matt for doing all the driving. We found it very beneficial as it’s given us lots of ideas of places we’d like to go back to on our return visit. The day ended with a vegan afternoon tea at the Twelves Apostles Hotel and wow, what a perfect finale! The food was top notch. Thank you, Matt - you made our trip even more special and we can’t wait to see you again on our return!
