Serves meat, vegan options available. Fine dining restaurant serving South African and Japanese fusion cuisine. Offers a vegan set menu that changes on a regular basis. Open Mon-Sat 12:00pm-2:00pm, 6:00pm-10:00pm.
Closed Sun.
🥗Plant based fine dining on steroids! Brilliant meal at FYN Restaurant . It starts with the doorman that intuitively knows you need a secure parking spot and rushes to your aid. Then you step into the big wooden old fashioned elevator, that literally transports you to a different world.
One can also opt for a pescatarian or omnivore menu but it is by far the plant based menu that steals the show.
Smoked tofu, Salt baked celeriac and Burnt mushroom custard are a few highlights.
The 7 course menu is a fusion of Japanese cuisine with a South African twist. Elements like soutslaai, spekboom, rooibos and buchu firmly grounds it in local soil. The service is smooth and impeccable but has many fun theatrical surpises as the eating journey unfolds.
Highly highly recommended and if Michelin would ever come to town , they are top of that list!
First of I would like to say that if you go here, request the vegan menu. They offer a plant based menu on the website but this is not the vegan menu. They did ask on arrival to clarify that we have requested vegan food and we were assured that any dishes that contained animal products would be substituted.
I wish I could have uploaded more photos of the food and the restaurant. However, I kept forgetting because when the food arrived and we were give a description of the food, I was too keen to tuck in. Each dish was presented beautifully and we were provided with an overview of all the ingredients involved in making the dish.
Each dish was incredible, taste wise and looks. The setting was impeccable, clean, smart and modern. FYN offered their own spin on cocktails and they complimented the food well. The service was top notch and would go again when back in Cape Town.
price wise, whilst more expensive than an average meal, it was still good value for money in comparison to other fine dining establishments around the world - it was roughly £45 each for a six course tasting menu.
