a really good and different place in NYC - Edit
this place offers really nice food to choose from, ready made and kept warm "home style" cooking: different pastas, potatoes, sauces, faux meats etc. to have, pay by weight. food tasted really good and price is average in NYC I would say. serves listed items as well i.e burgers and fresh smoothies. had seatings and restroom inside.
Pros: different kind of food to have, a lot options, home style cooking

Great food - Edit
Real good Caribbean Pay by the pound steam table buffet. They serve it for you but you can pick as many items as you want which is great since you are not limited to 3 or 4 choices. They also have patties and plenty of cakes and other treats.

Small but good - Edit
Uptown Veg offers vegan food - order from the counter, pay by weight for plates with your choices. There are also wraps and burgers. We had a plate of rice, kale and soy chicken - nice, and a veggie burger wrap - substantial. We also had some tasty vegan desserts - sweet potato cake and carrot cake. The space is narrow with limited seating, but manageable.

Great smoothies - Edit
I have just discovered this place this afternoon. It's a very small place. The staff is extremely enthusiastic about their food - I got a "freestyle" green smoothie with all the good stuff I liked. I only wanted to get something refreshing to drink, but some of my non-vegan colleagues got food there and they very much enjoyed it. I am definitely going back for the food! It looks like a healthy, not too pricey option.
Pros: fair price, open and enthusiastic staff, all vegan soulfood

My Harlem spot - Edit
This is one of my favorite spots in Harlem, and it's a must-visit if you're a veg*n in the area. They have a bunch of hearty and delectable dishes that rotate from day to day, so come early and often to try out all of their great fare. I'm especially fond of their veggie drumsticks, stir fry, and mac and cheez.
Pros: variety, hearty

Great Value, Great Food! - Edit
The selection is really great, and the prices are reasonable. This is the only place, that I am aware of, that has vegan soul food, and Caribbean food. Since the restaurant moved to its new location, there is more room to fix your own plate, and the line moves much more smoothly. There are even a few tables if you can't wait to get where you are going to dig in. The curried "chicken legs" are to die for, as well as the cakes and ginger beer.
Pros: Great Food, Great Value, Great Selection

No complaints - Edit
The food tasted great and for the money you get a good amount even the smoothies and juices were not bad priced compared to other places. The counter service was a bit cramped but for vegan food that's a good thing to see.
Pros: price, selection
Cons: ordering space

Cheap Eats - Edit
Stayed with a friend who lives around the block from here, so we are here like 5 times last week. The food was pretty good, like home-cooking. The "chicken legs" were good. The mac'n'cheez was really good. The veggies are really good too. The serving area is way to narrow to be safe and if you don't know to move to the back, the locals have no problem cutting you out. If you have questions, the people are usually nice, but you can't hear them over the 5' high counter.
But yea, good cheap vegan eats.
Don't bother with the pizza, it's a packaged crust with no flavor that they reheat for you.
Pros: Prices, Homestyle food, Mac n cheez
Cons: Serving area, Say no to the pizza

shanaadise 22 Feb 2013 - the food at uptown juice bar and cafe veg isn't vegan. I saw the ingredients list. MILK, EGGS, and WHEAT (they say only soy)

I love this place! - Edit
I am not a fan of counter service and hate standing on line....... I always prefer a menu and sit down service.........BUT....... this restaurant is the exception! Great variety, plentiful food, great prices, and the dinning area is large and comfortable. I love to go there!
Pros: excellent selection of vegan entrees, inexpensive, comfortable seating
Cons: counter service

The place for fresh juice in Harlem - Edit
The menu features dozens and dozens of choices of smoothies and fresh squeezed juices. There is also counter service of hot and cold vegan dishes, which are quite good although portions were a bit small. Service is reasonably fast and friendly. Great prices, highly recommended.
Pros: Good prices, Amazing juice

Best veggie food in Harlem - Edit
NYC is a great place to be vegan, but it's not always cheap. Uptown Juice Bar is one of the best vegan bargains in NYC. For about $9 you can get more food than the average person can eat in one sitting, and it's delicious. The bbq drumsticks are delicious, as are the greens and everything else I've tried.

Some of the best food in Manhattan. Period. - Edit
All 100% vegan! The barbecue soy drumsticks are by far the best mock meat I've ever tasted. There is an overwhelming variety of menu options -- ethnic and American staples, including yummy chickpeas, collard greens, curried potatoes, brown rice, stuffed peppers, many styles of mock meats -- which makes it hard to choose. But since all of the entrees are wholesome and tasty, you can't go wrong. Also, the servings are very generous.
Uptown Juice Bar is about a 25 minute walk from Columbia campus. The place is always bustling, and the staff are friendly. The serving area is a bit narrow and can become crowded, but there is a bright and comfortable dining area in the back. Definitely worth the trip uptown!
Pros: hearty and healthy, comfort foods, excellent value
