Great food!

Been here a couple of times now and really enjoy their Vegan Skillet! Got a handful of vegan options to choose from. Egg substitutions also available!

These Chicks make a good vegan skillet

We got the vegan skillet with all the fixings and a short stack of the sourdough pancakes with blueberries. Everything tasted great, the vegan skillet was awesome. There were pretty limited vegan options on the menu, but what they had was good.

Pros: Well marked vegan options on menu, Fast and extremely friendly service, Nice hot sauce selection

Cons: Wish for more vegan options

Bad Food but Good Service

I went to two chicks recently with my girlfriend (omnivore) and we were both disappointed. I got the orange juice and sourdough pancakes, my juice was alright but a little bitter...the pancakes tho, yikes. They were unusually light and stuck to the roof of my mouth, and they had no real flavor just that weird texture. When we had ordered the waitress asked what sides we wanted including "hashbrowns". Turns out those hashbrowns are made with parmesan cheese. I took one bite and spit it out because I was disgusted and mad it wasn't made clear that there was cheese in the hashbrowns. You would think that me ordering my pancakes vegan would be enough to let her know that i wouldn't eat cheese either but oh well. My girlfriend then tried the hashbrowns and hated them and they usually eat cheese and such. I also got sick after eating there and recently found out that omnivores have also gotten sick eating there...Do not recommend, there are way better breakfast spots in town.

Hi! What other breakfast places with vegan options do you recommend in Reno? I'm always looking.

Vegan Skillet

The skillet was huge and they easily added Vegan Egg and Cheese. #Veganuary

Vegan skillet

Not too many vegan options, they do have vegan cheese and vegan egg substitute. Also Gf bread (I didn’t but should have asked if the bread was vegan) Ordered the skillet and GF bread, they gave me their house made butter. I took some (it was yummy) but decided to ask exactly what it was. Reminder that your wait staff doesn’t think about things that seem logical to us!

Vegan and GF options please? Would you like real butter with that? 🤣😞

Pros: Dish was tasty

Cons: Not many options for vegan.

Good breakfast!

The place gets very busy so call ahead to make a reservation, especially groups larger than 4. The prices are fair, the portions are fair, the food is great, and they have a full bar. Never been disappointed here!

Mediocre at best

Finally had a chance to eat here and I wasn't really impressed. I was attracted to the fact they have vegan options but little did I realize it sjust a boring egg and potato type of traditional American food joint. mind you, the food itself was OK but nothing that would compel me to return for round 2. their coffee was mediocre. in the end, I feel the price tag wasn't worth the quality of the food. disappointed that they don't offer any faux meat options. my review is based on my strict vegan diet. meat eaters might have a different opinion.

for contrast, my partner is not vegan nor vegetarian and also wasn't impressed with the quality of their food. felt it was much too ordinary fare.

I never realized they had vegan options. We decided one morning to say whatever and eat what they had, and we were happily surprised to find out they had plenty of vegan! Yay!

Pros: Lots of vegan options.

Good Stuff!

The food here is great! Lots of vegan options! You can switch anything on their menu for vegan egg or vegan cheese. We all ordered "vegan skillets," and we loved them!
We also got the "vegan sourdough pancakes" and thoroughly enjoyed them!

Pros: Vegan options, Vegan substitutes, Conscious of food allergies

Cons: Long wait

Do not recommend

Update: I went to eat there again because a meat-eating friend wanted to. Her food was so awful she didn’t eat most of it. My food was equally bad. Again, the only option they had was jam for the bread. I got the veggie skillet, and it came cold. My friend tried it too and was shocked at how cold it was. The service was good and the waitress was friendly. I didn’t ask for her to heat up my food because my friend didn’t like her food and wanted to go eat elsewhere. My food was drenched in oil. I will not eat there again, even if my friends are wanting to. I REALLY wanted to like this place, but after two disappointing experiences in a row, I will not be going back.

Original post: There were maybe a handful of options for vegans. On the day I went, they only had two options available. The veggies platter I got was fairly delicious, nothing to write home about though. The place was out of vegan eggs too. My meat-eating friends weren’t that impressed with the quality. My waiter didn’t seem to understand veganism, and kept trying to offer me things with honey, dairy, or eggs in it. They also don’t have a vegan spread for the toast except jam. Since I’m trying to limit added sugars, it was disappointing to not have some kind of vegan butter or spread or something. I will probably not be going here again.

Vegan Skillet and Vegan Pancakes

The vegan skillet was deeeeelish. Served with tortillas and I got myself little breakfast veggie tacos! They even have vegan pancakes - yahoo!
My meat eating companions were also pleased with their choices.

Pros: Generous portions

Cons: A little heavy (skillet)
