A literal life-altering meal

Was looking at my reviews and was shocked that I hadn’t reviewed Trail Life yet!

I’ve been here dozens of times and their seasonal and permanent vegan staples are literally life-altering.

Somewhere in these reviews, you will find someone say the Vegan Tofu Katsu Sandwich is the reason they and their partner moved to Grand Junction. I am the other half of that relationship, and am here to say, that is not an exaggeration.

To be clear - the vegan food here is so good that at least two people upended their lives and moved to be closer to Trail Life’s food and vibes. Yup, it’s that good.

Impressive!

We were incredibly impressed with Trail Life Brewing's vast vegan menu. They're not just putting a simple burger on their menu for us, they're walking the walk! My husband and I had their falafel wrap, salad, fries, brussel sprouts, and Dead Pet Series beers. All exceeded our expectations! The vibe is really great too, they had a musician on the patio singing during our visit and plenty of available tables even though they were super busy. We had our drinks and food within 20 minutes of arriving so the service is very efficient too. This place is a definite must when visiting the area.

Pros: Vegan options clearly marked and plenty of them!

A Must Visit!

Loved everything about Trail Life Brewing. One side of the shop is an outdoor store and the other a micro brewery with a bar style menu. Largely burgers and curries. The vibe is really fun, lots of different brews, cocktails, slushes and sodas and the staff were lovely. Almost everything on the menu is vegan or has a vegan option. The Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts are INSANE!!

Pros: Extensive vegan menu , Portion sizes are excellent , Lots of inside seating and 4 outdoor tables.

A plethora of vegan options

At Trail Life Brewing you get a plethora of vegan options. Try the brussle sprouts or something coming with panko breaded tofu. Soo good!

Soooo Many Options

As you can see from the previous reviews, this is a great place for vegans to eat. Just be ready for some spicy food. The brussels sprouts are a must! Definitely recommend. Great food and they have an outdoor seating that is dog friendly.

Pros: Alot of vegan options - well marked!, Dog friendly, Fantastic flavors

Cons: If you don’t like spicy, choose wisely

Enjoyable vegan options

Four of us shared the following:

Vegan Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts,
Vegan Hummus and Kwarma with Falafel, Vegan Katsu Bahn Mi with side salad, and Vegan Falafel Wrap with fries

These are way better than the average bar food. Much of it is stand alone restaurant level great food. The dishes weired best were the Falafel Wrap and Katsu Bahn Mi. The tofu cutlets in the BahnMi were substantial and satisfying with tasty other items in the sandwich. It was my favorite item at this meal, with the falafel being by next favorite. I really liked that the menu is clearly marked which items can be made vegan on request, and when placing the order theircrew is happily accommodating of such requests. I would gladly eat here again the next time we are in the area.

Pros: The food, The easily identifiable vegan options on the menu, The vegan friendly crew

Amazing

Basically everything on the menu can be made vegan and it’s clear a lot of thought went into the vegan options. Great crispy tofu and delicious falafel. Decent prices for a mountain town. Would highly recommended.

Many Options!

I love finding breweries and pubs with a lot of vegan options. Trail Life had a ton of options on their menu that could be made vegan. All of their sauces, including the tatziki, are vegan except the ranch. I shared the fry and sauce flight which had some really original and tasty sauces (the smokey tomato was the best!). I also got the cubano which was very good. I would have loved a vegan cheese on it, but that's my only complaint. I also got the Looking Good mocktail which was really pretty and tasty.
The vibe was relaxed and cute as well!

Pros: Many options, Tasty food, Non alcoholic options!- beer and mocktails

Cons: Expensive but that may be typical for the area

Dang! Hot dang! So good

Their Google reviews with keyword “vegan” are off the charts! But only 2 reviews here. Nearly everything can be vegan (or veg)

I had the tofu katsu and it rivals anything I’d get similarly in Portland where I live.

If you’re vegan you MUST go here

Pros: Almost everything can be made vegan, Sauces are vegan by default! , Great service

Cons: None

Many vegan options

The food was decent for pub food. Many items can be veganized. I like the format of ordering at the counter and having the food delivered to my table.

The food wasn’t amazing, but I would eat here again when I am back in town.

Pros: Many options

The reason I moved to Grand Junction

My partner and I moved to Grand Junction because of the vegan katsu sandwiches at Trail Life. 1-seed vegan sandwich of America if there was such a March Madness bracket.

Pros: Food, Drinks, Vibe

Cons: Closed on Tuesdays

Vegan green curry

I don’t find vegan green curry much. Theirs is amazing. It is “traditional” Indian restaurant curry but it tastes so good. I would recommend getting it with extra veggies rather than tofu

Pros: Great green curry , Lots of other vegan options , Reasonable prices

Amazing vegan food!!!

There is a wide variety of vegan and “veganized” menu options, very clearly marked. I had the vegan tofu katsu sandwich and it was to die for! My non-vegan friends agreed! One of them ordered the (vegan) falafel wrap and we all agreed they were the freshest, tastiest falafels we’d ever tried. Go there! The food at this place is amazing!

Pros: Delicious food, Clearly labeled vegan options, Brews on tap - 4 oz. glass size is an option

Great vegan options in Grand Junction

We loved both the falafel wrap with thick pita and the vegan Patagonia, with marinated tofu. Portions are generous and staff is friendly. Another plus is the dog-friendly patio, so our pup could join us.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Generous portions , Friendly staff

So many options! Dog friendly patio!

I was pleasantly surprised and a bit overwhelmed by the vegan options! The menu was somewhat confusing as to what the vegan modifications would consist of, but the staff were knowledgeable and kind. I got the Thai vegan sandwich and fries, which were amazing.

Tasty and Non-Traditional

Had their plant-based massaman curry. It was quite tasty, though heavy on the coconut milk. It felt weird that there were no chunks (sweet potato, white potato, or even pineapple), but the taste was good. The real winner here was the katsu tofu though - SO good. Perfectly fried with a great softer interior. Even my non-vegan wife liked it.

Also ordered a "fry flight". I prefer thick cut fries, which these were. Really good! I doubt all the sauces were vegan, though the menu did say this dish was plant based. I stuck with ketchup and dipping the fries in my massaman.

Overall, good experience and glad to see another place in town with some good vegan options. I'll be back to try their other dishes!

Pros: Thick cut fries, Many vegan selections, Fun brewery atmosphere

Most of the menu can be vegan

Loves that most of the menu had a vegan sub. I had steak & cheese ice, sub seitan. Wife had skid row curry. Fires with h flight of sauces is vegan. And at least 10 more vegan options.

Refreshing Choice

Menu had a “plant based” designation on many items. When I ordered one he asked if I wanted it vegan or vegetarian. Very nice! It was delicious and full of good vegetables. Not a fancy place but a friendly place.

Great lunch

We split 2 sandwiches. One was the bbq jackfruit on a ciabatta bun with a side salad with homemade vegan Caesar salad dressing. Salad was awesome. Sandwich could of used a little more flavor.
We also got the Colorado burger and split that which is two falafel burgers very good barbecue sauce on this one and nice french fries

Vegan 5 Stars!!

Five stars! ☆☆☆☆☆
This is the stop for vegans! I usually try to go to 100% plant-based establishments, and that's how one could miss a gem like this!

Caters to Gluten-Free, Vegan, and even sandwich-as-a-bowl, low carb options!

This is a fun bar that had GOOD live music. Lots of guests during the week, and attentive staff that were very vegan-aware!

I got the Tofu "chicken" katsu. First, katsu sauce was good! While this is a fried item, it was fried to perfection! It was a really large portuon!

Second, I got a "side" salad and to my surprise,
it was a healthy, delicious salad with arugula, leafy greens, tomatoes, pine nuts/or pumpkin seeds, texture and deliciousness.

GET THE SALAD!

Pros: Vegan friendly staff, Vegan, gluten-free Menu, well marked, Live music

So good and great price!

This place spoke to me in that EVERYTHING can be made vegan, it had delicious beer/seltzer, and it was started by a woman! I got the Caesar salad with “chicken” and The Plunge Fries. The salad was delicious and not too heavily dressed. The fries were so tasty and topped with an amazing green salsa. I will be going back!
