Yum

Overwhelmed by choice! The waiter was really helpful helping us choose 2 things that would go together well, to share. One dish quite spicy indeed! Would come again to try more.

Pros: Choice!

Lovely Chinese Cuzine

This place is a must visit. I have never seen a full vegan traditional Chinese establishment like this. Food was so delicious we over ate. Recommendations were spot on. Great service. Do visit you won’t regret it

Sooo good!!

I went on my own and only tried a couple of things, but this is a place you will want to go in a big group so you can try as many things as possible!

Okay

People rave about this chain. I shared six (two of each) dumplings and had a small plate of stir-fry, which was a bit oily. Nothing had much flavour. Was busy and evidently popular, and the service was good, but I was not impressed with the food.

Nice vegan option

Fine but not particularly inventive or authentic. Too light on the Szechuan peppercorns and heat. Not enough greens.

Lovely meal out, great staff

Booked in for dinner and was blown away by how incredible the food was! The staff were lovely and make recommendations if you're unsure what to order. After a long day of walking around London it was very welcome indeed.

Pros: Very friendly staff, Incredible food, Nice atmosphere

Delicious food

I do like the food at Tofu Vegan restaurants. The mixture of textures and flavours is imaginative. Spitalfields is no exception - good food and good service.

I would like to see new dishes on the menu, such as fresh vegetable side dishes.

Pros: Excellent food, Helpful service, Nice atmosphere

Amazing menu

Spoiled for choice. Shared some dumplings to start - the soup ones were amazing. Eventually decided on cauliflower for my main, it had a salt and pepper type seasoning. I also tasted the asparagus and tofu in peanut sauce (was envious of the tofu sauce and dipped my baos in it)! Shared some red bean paste spring rolls for dessert. All in all an excellent meal and a treat for vegans!

Delicious and exciting variety

It was cool seeing a lot of dishes on the menu that I’m not normally able to get vegan! We didn’t have much time so we got takeout from the essentials section of the menu. It was really good and staff was so nice!

Pros: Exciting menu, Helpful staff

Excellent food, staff and flavours

Food was excellent and incredibly tasty. Well cooked and flavourful. Staff members very kind and helpful. The prices were reasonable £57 for two mains plus rice, 1 starter and 2 drinks but could have slightly lower. Overall a very good choice and we will be coming back 🙏🏼

Give me all the lotus root

One of my favourite vegan restaurants. They have such a great varied menu (even though I always order the same dishes every time 🤭) and everything always tastes great. Anyone I bring here also loves it too, non-vegans included.

Solid and not too expensive

Chinese dumplings 🥟 were extremely tasty and the vegan Pekingese duck was very interesting!

Consistently great! (July 2024)

Every TV keeps such a high standard. The food is excellent and pretty quickly bright out. Not living in London means I have to visit more sporadically but always do when in town.

First Chinese in a very long time

Being vegan, you're often used to having very limited choice of restaurants or items on the menu. Well, it seems Shoreditch is setting itself up to be a vegans dream - so many choices! I came to Tofu Vegan with one meat eating friend and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff are friendly and the environment was really nice.

The Wontons in house special sauce are popular for good reason!

Definitely get the wontons! And I just asked for a recommendation for the main and was not disappointed, it was a chili and tofu stir fry with mushrooms

Amazing

Amazing food and very friendly staff. The food came immediately and was delicious. We ordered multiple dishes to share which was the best choice as they are all so different.

Enjoyable Asian Cuisine

The food here overall was good, but not excellent. The portions sizes were modest and, the overall quality probably means it leans on the more expensive side. In general a nice venue with friendly staff, and fairly pleasant, straightforward Asian food - we would not say they are purely authentic, but it was fairly proximal to this, and given the European context, pretty solid relatively speaking.

Definitely worth it the visit on balance.

Gluten Free friendly.

Pros: Wonton Soup, Salt & Pepper Tofu, Gluten Free Friendly

Cons: Slightly expensive

Just ok

All the food we had was nice, but the flavours were not very interesting. Overall the food was pretty basic for the price you pay, except for the wonton starters which were very good. There are also no vegetable dishes on the menu (apart from one mushroom dish) which is surprising for a vegan venu, so as a result the food is quite heavy. Though if “beige” is your vibe then this place is for you!

Expensive but worth it!

Great food! We tried the wontons in special sauce, smacked cucumbers, sliced “fish” in chili oil, and sizzling king oyster mushrooms — the latter being our absolute favorite. For dessert, we had sesame rolls and green tea.

Even though this is the most expensive restaurant I’ve been to in England, it was worth the price. The flavors were a little milder than I prefer, but perhaps that’s just how food in Britain is meant to be?

The staff was friendly, too. The only downside is that it was super loud — so loud it was hard to have a conversation — but to be fair, we were there during the dinner rush.
