Third Avenue is Louisville's best for vegans - Edit
I try to get to Third Avenue Cafe at least once a week--to support my favorite restaurant and to enjoy the best vegan dishes I've had in Louisville. There are very few places in Louisville where you can find a variety of vegan entrees and sides. They are not just vegan but delicious!
Pros: great food, friendly service
Cons: closed on Sunday

I had a very good experience at Third Ave Cafe, the food was great and the dessert was even better! Would recommend to anyone wanting a different variety of food and neat environment!

very vegan friendly! - Edit
This restaurant is a great place for vegans. They have six or seven different vegan sandwiches and entrees, but they have meat too, which means you can bring your family there and they won't complain. It has a good atmosphere, nice staff, and lots of delicious local beer on tap. I recommend the vegan ruben or the vegan cardinal club sandwich. So delicious! I have been coming here for 8 years, and the food is consistently delicious.
Pros: lots of vegan options, good value

Mediocre - Edit
Although there are vegan options on the menu (very limited), I was not extremely impressed by the flavor or texture of anything I tried. The food is mediocre (at best), but nevertheless . . . an option for vegetarians/vegans in Louisville.
Pros: Vegan Options
Cons: The food is not that great . . .

Rude staff, rude new owner, and very over priced food that is definitely not the best vegan food in town. Use to eat here all the time until the new owner. I do not recoomend,
Pros: vegan food
Cons: rude staff, overpriced, rude owner

kid_retro2003 22 Feb 2013 - I went there for lunch today for the first time with my wife and I have to tell you, I have never had a more delightful meal. There was a bit of a wait when we got there. A young man with glasses who I think was the manager came up to us smiling and told us he would have a table ready for us in just a minute or two.
My self being a carnivore and my wife a vegan were very surpried at the diversity of the menu. Our guacamole appetitzer came out very fast! there were so many choices. lol. I settled on a burger, which was cooked to perfection. I'm usually not a veggie fan but I ordered the soy salad, and it was very tasty. My wife went crazy over the black bean sandwich she had.
Our server was an older lady who seemed to be at home there. I overheard a few customers call her by name. She was a riot. Fast, friendly and courtoius. For a first time visit, we felt treated like regulars, it was a nice break from the "corporate" astmosphere you get at most places. When the manager came around to check on us. We told him how much we liked it, and he said "Good. You're the reason we're here." Now that's nice to hear!
We will definetly be going back alot more!!!
