Tofu paneer?!!!

Super tasty. Their tofu paneer should be sold everywhere - delicious food and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

Pros: Delicious, Friendly staff, Tofu paneer

Cons: Limited drinks menu

Delicious and huge but the place is shared

Delicious and huge amount of food (the price is worth it, i promise you wont leave hungry). However i did not like the fact that the restaurant is not vegan, but a regular one with a menu vegan.

And everything is shared (not quite sure if the kitchen too)

In the description it says that there are 2 restaurants (one vegan and one not) and that the kitchens are separate - you must have overlooked that part (=

Lovely Vegan options

Such good food & cocktails were delicious. So many vegan options and and the food was beautifully cooked and everyone (vegan, veggie and two meat eaters) all loved it. Would have loved some spice options but highly recommend the Indian tasters & naan!

Oh my god

I’ve never had vegan Indian food this good before. The vegan butter chicken curry is astounding and I love that they use tofu as a paneer replacement- it’s perfect! Also the naan is SPECTACULAR. Garlic and garlic cheese is the best. Was even hot for delivery! Can’t wait to go back in person

Pros: Affordable, Delicious, Hot delivery and well packaged

Cons: Wasn’t able to eat it all in one sitting :(

good for ordering / open until late

I ordered there when I was in Amsterdam. The food was delivered quickly, was still hot and came in re-useable plastic boxes (I am still using them after one week of bike tour since then).
The coconut curry was very good. the vegan starter box was also very good.
everything was packed very well so that nothing spilled out the boxes.

Only four stars as the place there serves meat. Food was excellent.

Excellent vegan curry

Fab vegan chicken tikka masala here. Amazing to see in a world where dairy ghee / milk / yoghurt is too commonly used in indian restaurants.

Best vegan butter chicken

A really classic vegan butter chicken curry and the samosas were delicious.

It does the classic dishes justice! I ordered these takeaway and still great quality.

Really nice!

We had the Tarka Dahl and saag aloo with rice and naan. Both were good. I would definitely go again and try a korma or other ‘chicken’ dish

A great indian

We got the vegan snack mix, I got the no meat chicken madras and garlic and cheeze naan. The madras was the perfect heat level for me, overall a great meal and worth the walk!

Satisfactory

Happy with my time here. The curries were great, but the naan was fantastic. Korma was okay. Would eat again though!

Amazing food and lots to choose from

A big chart with just vegan dishes. The snack platter was amazing and both curry's we chose as well. Will be going there next time I am in Amsterdam as well.

Pros: Lots of choices, Portionsize, Atmosphere

Incredible Indian food

This place makes amazing Indian food. They have an inclusively vegan menu with many many incredible options.

Though I have to say, they also serve non-vegan things from a separate menu at this place.

They have also Vegan Mango Lassi but it didn’t convince us.

Pros: Incredible Food, Exclusively vegan Menu, Many many options

Cons: Vegan Mango Lassi was meh

Just ok

I’m desi and came with a friend. We had a selection of starters to share

Raita : Terrible, sweet and no cucumber. Was told it has spices but there were none.
Garlic naan: Tasty, nice flavour & vegan cheese
Tandoori Tofu tikka : Bland, not enough seasoning. Tofu needed more marination and charred flavour. Hardly a tandoori tofu.
Momos: Tasty, fried with nice filling
Seekh kebab: Good, needed a little more charred flavour
Harabara kebab: Tasty as always, standard restaurant kebab
Mango lassi: Good, needed a different yoghurt (more tangy) and a little stronger mango flavour. But nice!

Pros: Good selection, Nice vegan meats

Cons: Lacking in flavour, Not very authentic

Good food, but very pricey

The food was good, but it was very pricey, and not a vegan restaurant. Just a vegan menu in the original restaurant

Amazing place to go with non-Vegans

My fiance and I were struggling to find an Indian place with vegan dishes I wanted and he specifically wanted a chicken dish and wasn't willing to compromise on vegan chicken.
When I saw this place, I excitedly dragged him here. Make sure to specify you want the vegan menu when the server is going to grab menus.
We literally came back the next day because my fiance was craving the butter chicken he had. The vegan version was also delicious and we got vegan naan and we both agreed it was delicious.

Pros: Separate kitchen for vegan dishes, The easiest compromise for your non-vegan friends, Overall delicious food

Not a vegan restaurant

The service was friendly but towards the end they were a bit hasty and they were closing soon. Food was okay, for that price I expect better quality and presentation.

Pros: Friendly service

Cons: Price

Great Food

The restaurant is called „Bollywood“ and inside of that restaurant you can order the vegan manu. The variety of vegan options was extensive. We ordered 4 different meals and they were all very delicious. The food is kinda spicy, if you don’t like spicy food just tell the waiter.

Pros: Variety of meals, Delicious , Spicy

Cons: Name is confusing, restaurant is called Bollywood

Great take-out

I haven’t visited their restaurant, but we order here regularly when we want to eat takeout. Great authentic food which is actually spicy! The vindaloo makes your eyes water.

Pros: Actually spicy, no westernised stuff

Bobanthar

Vindaloo is derived from a Portuguese dish and the version you get outside of India is most often British! So a westernised, easternised dish, in fact.

Good food, not a vegan restaurant

The vegan restaurant is more of a vegan menu in the Bollywood restaurant than it’s own place, so it’s bit confusing. However, we had great food and the service was nice and clear. The eggplant and the meatless meatball curries were delicious! Mango lassi was okay, but I think a better plant milk alternative could be chosen for this (like coconut).

Good food

The food tastes good, the service is quick. Some more work on the desserts would be great. This ice cream on a stick looked and tasted cheap.

Pros: Complete vegan menu, Tastes good, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Awkward dessert- ice lollipop

Mixed feelings

I visited the Vegan Indian recently on a Saturday.
After inquiring about the vegan menu downstairs, I was asked to stay on the ground floor, because they had a reservation of a large group for the upper floor.
The menu had a lot of yummy-sounding stuff in store.
The chicken saag tasted great, what a treat! The cheesy naan was also amazing, I enjoyed it a lot.
The raita was different to what I'm used to, but it was okay. The mango lassi was decent, but it was a bit too small, in my opinion.
Now, while I was eating, the announced group came - I have no idea how many people that where, at least 50, and I'm being completely serious. The whole restaurant, upstairs (I didn't see it, but judging by the amount of people that had gone up) and downstairs completely packed. They all had some sort of lunch, they ate fairly quickly, and half an hour later almost everybody was finished and gone again.
I have to say, everybody was considerate, I can't complain, but it was a pretty surprising event.
Contradictory to the information I found here on Happycow, the vegan dishes were prepared in the downstairs kitchen. Even though I found most of the food enjoyable, this can be quite the serious issue for some people. That's why I decide to give only three stars.

Delicious food

Food is delicious. They have “regular” and vegan menu so good spot to have a meal with non-vegan friends. Vegan options still have the authentic Indian taste.
Location is bit too touristy and interiors could be much more friendly and more clean.

Pros: Food

Cons: Touristy location, Not very clean
