Great lunch buffet

Belated review since I traveled there in July 2021 but since the lunch buffet still exists on their menu, I’m finally posting it because it was so worth it! There was a large variety of choices, you could feel everything was freshly prepared and it was super tasty and also not that pricey based on the Icelandic cost of living. The buffet is fully vegetarian and you have access to various vegan options. Just ask the staff if unsure 😊

Good food at a good restaurant

The restaurant is chic, the walls are partially old stones (from the mountain?) and next to it is a cute little shop with gifts from Iceland (some are handmade).

The food was good, they got two different vegetarian main courses, which can be made vegan. The vegetable soup seems vegan too, but varies. We got the Vegan Burger, it comes with fries and vegan chili-mayo. Good to find vegan food in this area(:

Pros: Nice ambience, Friendly staff, Good food

Très bien

Nous avons été très bien reçus.
Nous avons pris une soupe de carottes et un chili sin carne. Tout était vraiment délicieux, savoureux !
Le lieu était très chouette également, restaurant collé au musée, dans la roche.

Wow!

Amazing gem in Borganes! We really enjoyed the vegetarian wellness buffet - all you can eat for around $20 USD (including coffee and tea). Large selection of cold entrees, salad, warm chickpea chili and rice, potatoes, bread, and soup that all change daily (the cauliflower soup was amazing!) Items with milk and gluten clearly labeled. Definitely try if in the area.

Fabulous buffet, reasonable price, deserves 5 stars

We stopped here having read the reviews and were not disappointed. It was very busy but we just had to wait about 10 mins for a table. The building is built into the rockface and there's a bookshop and museum display downstairs that is well worth a visit. I won't repeat what others have said about the food, almost all vegan, fresh and tasty.

Pros: great choice of vegan food, fabulous building, fresh and tasty

Cons: none

Kind, knowledgeable about vegan food

Our waiter knew exactly which dishes on the buffet were vegan, they were extremely kind. They gave us a gluten-free bread which PS is the tip of the day, it is a nut bread that is amazing (my boyfriend is both vegan and gluten-free) Buffet was delicious as well as the vegan chili served with rice, very vegan friendly.

5 stars if I could

They have an entirely vegetarian buffet. I wasn’t sure because they don’t really advertise it nor is it marked, but oh my it was SO delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked and spiced. Hats off to the cooks in the back! At least 80% of the buffet was vegan too.

Super great vegan options, would give 5 stars

Was visiting the settlement museum and was super excited to stop at this place. They had an all vegetarian buffet (all vegan except for one dish) with tons of really good options. Super excited to find such a vegan friendly place in Iceland, and with a buffet nonetheless! It was also very well priced at around $20 usd a person, considering we’re in Iceland. The only thing is you should make sure the dishes you take from the buffet are vegan by asking if there’s egg or dairy. For example, the waitress told me the whole buffet was vegan even though there was a broccoli dish with dairy, so I’m glad I asked. Other reviews said dishes were clearly marked but there was no menu of the buffet or signs when I went. Make sure you check out the settlement museum by the way! It was a bit expensive but defiantly a cool experience.

Tasty veggie hamburger

Unfortunately I was too late for the vegetarian / vegan buffet lunch, but I had the vegetarian burger which was very good. Accompanied by slightly undercooked potatoes. Friendly and quick service. Reasonably priced, taking into account we're in Iceland.

Nice surprise, even vegan cake and coffee

This was a surprise, as the menu posted outside was not as obvious but as soon as I walked in excellent customer service and covid safety, knowledge of ingredients and many vegan and vegetarian options. All tastey and homemade style.

Pros: Awesome cake, choice of plantbased milks, Everyone was enjoying the all vegetarian buffet, Service was the best quality and covid controls

Cons: Not that obvious standing outside what options are

Great veg lunch buffet

We came here for lunch, expecting to pay 2500 ISK pp for vegan burgers and fries. We were pleasantly surprised to learn about the 2400ISK pp vegetarian lunch buffet. The food was well marked so you could tell what was vegan. The soup of the day was a delicious cream of mushroom - made with coconut milk. The buffet comes with coffee and tea. A great deal in Iceland!

The staff was very attentive. The restaurant itself was beautiful. There is exposed rock with clear plastic so you can feel like you’re sitting outside. It’s beautiful!

My husband says if you’re vegan or vegetarian and in the area, you should come out of your way to eat here.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Veg buffet

Cons: Potatoes were a little salty today

Labels, salads and soup

The buffet is mainly salads, really delicious salads. There are some hot dishes, but the best one is the soup. The staff is amazing and the price is average for Iceland (2400 ISK)

100% Vegetarian Buffet with Vegan Options

After driving the ring road and having very few vegan options along the way it was wonderful to pull into Borgarnes and visit the Settlement Center and be welcomed by a 100% vegetarian lunch buffet...most of which is vegan.

Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable when asking what options were vegan. The soup offered was the best we've ever tasted. We loved the food and surroundings so much that we returned for dinner to try other items on the menu....and the wait staff remembered us and once again provided a warm welcome. Would highly recommend! Would give 5 stars if I was able.

Pros: Many vegan options, Friendly Staff, Free Wifi

Cons: None
