I live a LONG way from this place and yet I’ve been so many times. Pizza isn’t usually worth bothering with as a vegan, but oh my gosh the Mediterranean Veg pizza they do here is so good, and ready in 5 minutes! It’s a camp site, and I’ve even visited for the pizza when not staying at the site!
Had the Mediterranean vegetable pizza with very tasty vegan cheese ☺️ there are chilled Fentimans drinks in the nearby shop, along with vegan chocolate options. Lovely staff. Amazing to have a vegan evening meal and breakfast (sausage sandwich) option on the actual camp site itself. Also the very friendly Rupert the dog can be seen in the shop towards the end of the day - he is gorgeous!
Tasty Pizza, vegan option is Mediterranean vegetables & vegan cheese, topped with rocket, cooked in a proper pizza oven it’s delicious. Served on plates to save packaging waste. Eat outdoors on picnic tables or in the bar area.
We stayed in one of their Glamping cabins during our trip to the Lakes and had a fantastic time. Cabin itself was well maintained with underfloor heating, kitchenette, and private bathroom (public bathrooms available for those just pitching up - also very well maintained).
The on site Quiet Bite offers vegan sausage rolls in the morning and vegan pizza in the evening (alongside its non vegan options) a selection of plant mills and syrups for hot drinks. On site tavern offered some vegan alcohol a range of very tasty vegan crisps.
Also really loved the focus on sustainability apparent across the whole site. No take away containers anywhere - all proper plates & cups that they ask you to return when you’re done. There’s also a 0 waste shop on site where you can purchase food, drink & toiletries. Those supplied in the cabin were also 0 waste & supplied by local businesses.
Over all great stay and highly recommend to anyone looking to visit the area in Winter or anyone who wants a more comfortable stay than pitching a tent. Staff were all very friendly and helpful too. Would’ve rated higher had they had more variety in vegan options, but what they did offer was plenty to get us by - plus a list of recommended spots nearby that are suitable for vegans.
