Oily and under-seasoned

I came here based on previous reviews and was very disappointed. I originally ordered the fig and pistachio porridge, but they were out of figs so I switched to the vegan big breakfast.

So bad! I'm honestly not picky at all but it was impressively poorly made. I almost never write reviews and just accept that some things aren't to my taste, but I don't want people to make the same mistake as me by going here.

The spinach had so much oil it was inedible - and I like oil. Nothing on the plate other than the mushrooms had any seasoning beyond salt. No lemon, no chutney or anything. Just overly oily and salty vegetables.

The mushrooms were alright. The spinach, tomato, hash brown, potato rosti (why both potato things?) were all so bland and greasy. I could see a few individual herb crumbs on the tomato but not enough to taste.

I like oily food and can usually eat any unseasoned veggie happily enough, but the way they prepared this meal made it inedible. Please just add any kind of herb, spice, sweetness or acidity, and halve the oil down to the normal already excessive amount other cafes use. I honestly don't know how you could go that wrong that you ruin fried vegetables

Good food and coffee

Quite a large cafe just opposite the railway station in Kensington.

There were three vegan options on the menu as well as nut milks for coffees, smoothies, etc., although for an extra cost ☹️

I ordered the big breakfast vegan option. It was definitely a big serving, and had some good flavours on the plate, especially the mushrooms, avocado, and spinach. The coffees come with a double shot as standard, which makes the coffees nice and strong.

The service was patchy with quick and friendly greeting, seating, ordering, and food/coffee delivery, however we had to search for the cutlery and the coffee maker/server looked bored.

Pros: Food and coffee, Good location and cafe setting

Cons: Would be good to have more vegan menu options, Patchy service

Busy cafe with some decent options

This place was bustling when we visited on a Saturday morning. There are two entries, and perhaps this is we felt a little lost when we entered. It wasn't clear 'what the deal' was, we wait for a table, we find a table, we order at the counter...(insert other options here). Staff looked at us and then looked away and we stood for a little too long before someone said 'hello', and then proceeded on with delivering food to a table. So I interrupted someone behind the counter to ask if we should just sit down. It is at this point that we almost left, I have to say, and this is a street of cafes. I value service and feeling welcomed.

But clearly people were enjoying the food...so we sat.

I had the vegan big breakfast, which is not described on the menu. When I asked, was told 'it's just everything is replaced by vegetables'. I ordered it anyway. It was delicious, with avo, toast, mushrooms, spinach, hashbrowns, cherry tomatoes and yummy crunchy kale.

The coffees were OK, not outstanding. Food was great, but service lets this place down tremendously.

Yummy burger

Vegan chicken burger with hot chips and avocado smash on toast was very yummy. Absolutely loved the golden, crispy coating on the "chicken" patty. Decent serving size. Crispy, flavoured chips. The avo smash was zesty and delicious. Would visit again.
