Really delicious

They have many vegan dishes which are prepared in a separate Plant based kitchen! The food was really delicious!! I would highly recommend to try the vegan chocolate-coconut tart as an dessert!! So good!

Great food and service

Multiple vegetarian and vegan options for starters and mains clearly labelled on the menu. Even the wine list makes note of vegan wines! The cauliflower wings were amazing and the cashew vegetable stir fry was surprisingly delicious for a more traditional Irish-cuisine restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff. Seems quite busy and popular so would recommend booking!

Pros: Range of options , Clearly labelled menu, Service

Very cosy and large portions!

3 vegan starter and 3 vegan main options.
Very nice atmosphere with loads of small little semi closed rooms for groups of varying sizes.
Anything with potatoes was amazing.
Out of the vegan mains the "korean taco's" were the best.

Loved it so much I ate here two days in a row

This place deserves 5 stars. Everything I ate was gluten free and clearly said so on the menu.

We had the cauliflower wings to start and they were incredibly delicious. Second night I had the veg samosas which were so crispy and delicious too.

Korean tacos for dinner which were also exceptionally delicious. They aren’t really Korean at all, more like Indian spiced but with a sriracha mayo. The mayo also came with the cauliflower as well. Came with potatoes on the side which were so crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and spiced to perfection.

The presentation was so cute, I loved that they add micro greens and pickled onions.

The restaurant itself is really quaint and a fun, unique experience dining in the private cubbies. Overall great experience.

Pros: Gluten free by default , Quaint restaurant and seating , Cauliflower wings

5 stars *****

The Porterhouse added a separate plant based kitchen ensuring different appliances (fryer, oven, pans, grill, fridges) and no cross contamination.
3 starters, 3 main courses, desserts, vegan cocktails etc. 🌱
Good for gluten free too!
One owner is plant based.

Disappointingly average food

I first came here two years ago and remember enjoying my food (although I don't remember what it was). Before coming this time I had read recent reviews and looked at the menu online and was excited to try the so-called eggplant parmesan as I loved this fish as a vegetarian. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. It was bland but also very oily, and as a previous reviewer mentioned recently, I actually felt ill after from all the oil, even though I could only eat about half of it. I have seen in reviews here the staff mentioned as friendly, but as two Irish people we were ignored except for the basics and rushed out at the end - all the attention being given to international tourists who are expected to tip big (which is not the custom in Ireland).
It's really two stars for the food and atmosphere and an extra one for the separate plant-based menu and kitchen. I personally won't be returning.

Pros: Separate plant-based kitchen, Separate plant-based menu

Cons: Oily bland food, Unfriendly staff , Expensive

Plant based menu!

We had the crispy buffalo cauliflower wings, the house Korean tacos and the basil spaghetti and eggplant Parmesan (with notzarella cheese).
Everything was delicious and every plate was really abundant.

Delicious dinner

I had the mushroom bruschetta as a starter and the pesto pasts with eggplant as a main dish and it was both very delicious!
I am glad I shared the starter as it was quite large for a starter 😀
They had some more options for vegan startes and main dishes e.g. Korean Tacos.

Pros: Many vegan options, Super delicious, Separate kitchen for vegan dishes

Cons: Serves meat

Generous serves in a beautiful pub

The pub is a lovely place to dine and I enjoyed having a booth to ourselves. They had just changed to a new menu when we arrived and one item I wanted to order (cauliflower wings) wasn't available that day, so we just ordered another starter and a main to share. That was surprisingly substantial though!

The basil pesto with crumbed eggplant parmigiana and cheese sauce was very tasty (although the eggplant retained a lot of the vegetable oil from being deep-fried and I felt a little unwell afterwards). The mushroom bruschetta was huge as a starter and generously topped with almond cream and a variety of seasoned mushrooms. Absolutely delicious. There's also a very knowledgeable bar person who can help you select some great whiskey to try.

Very good vegan dishes

This is a great place to eat vegan in an otherwise difficult area. We had the basil pasta with fried eggplant and Korean tacos and it was all devine. Great service too.

Pros: Amazon pasta , Tasty tacos, Original vegan options

For a Non Vegan Place, They Really Know How to Do Vegan Food

This was such a treat when visiting the area! Probably the best meal I had throughout my time in Ireland (I had a lot of good food on the trip). My non-vegan partner said one of the best things they had on our trip was the Truffled Wild Mushroom Bruschetta (11) and I adored my Nut Roast Tart (18.50), something I wouldn't typically go for. If you're in the area, give them a try!

Would give five stars if I could

Title is something I rarely say about non-vegan establishments, but this one has an entirely separate plant-based kitchen which I really appreciate. A top-three meal from our whole trip. Bit of an upscale vibe, delicious food—get the mushroom bruschetta appetizer if they have it!

Nice setting, good vegan food

Three course vegan menu available on request (in addition to 'main' menu). Food was overall tasty and varied though on the expensive side considering options and portion size. Cauliflower 'steak' at €18 euros was just taking advantage as other posters have said.

Called by again on October 13 for dessert, got the only vegan dessert they have. Luckily it was CREME BRULEE! Amazing! So delicious and creamy, not too sweet and with that classic crack of the carmelised sugar as you dipped your first spoon in. Belissimo💕

Amazing vegan options

Everything was delicious and so gourmet. I went there twice, I wish it could have been more. A few vegan options but amazing ones. Staff was very professional, friendly and efficient. Never had a vegan crème brûlée before and it was incredible, I missed it after being vegan for 4 years.

Vegan section of the menu!

We had dinner at the Porterhouse and were happy to see a fairly large vegan section of their menu! Our waitress was very knowledgeable about each dish and was helpful as we were deciding what to order. We really appreciated that the vegan options went beyond the usual curry or pasta. Our favorites were the pumpkin soup and the mushroom bruschetta. The only miss was the tartlet- the pastry did not taste cooked all the way through.

Pros: Separate vegan section with several options , Great ambiance and helpful staff

Mwah - not my cup of tea

Went there with 2 adults and one teenager. Only 2 out of 3 vegan main courses available. No vegan desserts. The gnochi was real nice. the burgers a drama. Made of beans and sweet potato, completely fell apart and way to little seasoning / taste. Expensive for what you get. For the same amount or lower, try Milano of Lana in Killarny. There even is a McDonalds with plant based burger and Subway with many plant based options.

Pros: Gnochi, Nice indoors

Cons: Burgers fell apart, dry, hardly any seasoning, Expensive and no vegan desserts, Little choice

Awesome, fancy vegan options

A great option for a fancier night out. Fun cocktails, and delicious food. A small vegan menu, but pretty comparable to the rest of the menu.

I had the vegan pesto gnocchi and the cauliflower wings. The wings were INCREDIBLE and came with vegan ranch.

Separate vegan menu in cute pub

Really enjoyed our dinner here. The pub is an unusual layout - all little booths - but it gave it a really nice atmosphere. They have what they describe as a "limited vegan menu" which you just need to request. I think there was 3 starters and 2 mains. I went for the winter tartlet for the main and was really pleased with it. On the face of it, it looks expensive but the portions are massive. The tartlet was much bigger than I was expecting with a filo pastry base, beetroot, sundried tomato, vegan pesto and vegan cheese and a side of beetroot hummus and a herby nut cream. It was a really well balanced and tasty plate of food

Pros: Separate vegan menu, Huge portions

Pub Restaurant

They had a reduced menu available when I visited in December 22 and they usual menu was not in offer. Food is quite expensive but I was happy to have an option to dine😄I would recommend this place if visiting Killarney for drinks and pub food.
