Good Crab Cakes - Edit
I was a little disappointed in The Land of Kush, but I will cut them some slack in that we arrived toward the end of the night and the cashier was helpful and tried to help us out.
Read moreWe ordered crab cakes, drummies, and curry chikun. We wanted some kind of rice or bread to go with the curry, but they were out of their rice sides. So they threw in lentil burgers for free, which was nice. I thought the crab cakes were really good, great texture and flavor, although it would have been nice if they were served with roumalade or something. The curry chikun was also good, even without rice (although it seems odd to me that it does not come with rice). The drummies were just vegan chicken tenders, and were very dry. They also did not come with a sauce. The lentil burgers were two patties, no bread or toppings, and came with gravy. Tasted okay, but overall not that great.
I would go back to Land of Cush for the crab cakes, but nothing else really jumped out at me. However, if I was regularly in Baltimore I would probably give them another go. The vegan eggplant parmasan sounds tasty but only served T-TH.
Pros: All vegan, Good crabcakes
Cons: Some items dry with no sauces, No rice for curry, bread for burgers

So happy to have found this place in Baltimore. Their food was so good. My boyfriend who is not vegan loved their collard greens and the meat substitute he had. I really liked their Mac and cheese— looking forward to coming back and trying their crab cakes

Vegan crab cakes a must! - Edit
Don't let the space intimidate you. A bit unkempt, but staff friendly, food is good and served quickly and prices reasonable. The crab cakes were outstanding. The mac n cheese side mediocre, but the collard greens made up for it. Ribs entree was tasty, as were my friend's coconut cabbage side.

I was in the Baltimore area and checked on happy cow for vegan food and came across the little surprise. I purchased items for me & a coworker. We had the coconut curry cabbage, mac & cheese, collard greens, black bean & lentils dish. For dessert double chocolate cake and peach cobbler. Every thing was delicious, I would say the peach cobbler was ok, need more peaches, however it was still delicious. I will visit again next time in the area.

Food recently changed for the worse - Edit
We used to be obsessed with the Land of Kush, as a Vegan with a non-vegan partner who is allergic to shell fish, we especially enjoyed their award winning “crab” cakes. (And ribs and drummies and breakfast brunch and Mac n cheez, just EVERYTHING was delicious) We are so disappointed that they have changed the food ingredients, the crab cakes and curry “chicken” and Mac n cheese taste totally different and the textures are different as well. At first we thought maybe it was just an off day but we went back a few more times and it seems that the food is on a permanent downgrade from The yumminess that it once was. It seemed like before their food was made from fresher ingredients now it just tastes like mushy, overly processed TVP (textures vegetable protein) and flour. I would bet money that they will not be winning the annual crabcake competition with their new recipe. There really is no point in going there anymore and we are truly heartbroken over this. We find the staff to be Very busy, so not much time for small talk however they are very friendly and kind we have had one customer service problem. There was one employee a few years ago who was very rude to us fortunately another employee observe this apologized and comped our food. We have not seen that rude employee since then.

Wonderful Soul Food - Edit
Do yourself a favor. Get the ribs! They were the star of the show. That and the amazing sides. This was one of the best vegan places I have been. The inside is small, and the wait was a little long. But it was worth it. Staff were always moving, cooking, serving, and cleaning. They took a lot of pride in what they do. Super impressed!

My boyfriend & I stopped in here after a day of hiking. We got the drumsticks, bbq ribs (which were’t really “rib” like, but still delicious), mac & cheese, collard greens and potato salad. Everything was to die for. I even ran back and grabbed a cookies & cream piece of cake. The service was quick and the atmosphere casual/friendly.

Delicious but inconsistent - Edit
I've been here a few times, and the food is delicious. It's not toting itself as healthy, holistic, or holier than thou. It's got flavor, texture, and filling-quantities. If that makes sense. The vegan crab cake is amazing, and I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken fingers. Even my non-veg husband enjoyed the food, but especially enjoyed the collard greens.

Great word of mouth but poor selections - Edit
A friend of mine suggested that we make the long trek to Baltimore to check out this restaurant. The word of mouth about the vegan treasure trove was that the mac ‘n cheese was amazing and the other selections were just as wonderful. When we got there the line was out the door (in 20 degree weather no less) and it seemed that this place was insanely popular. That was probably our down fall during our visit. By the time we got to order they were out of their mac and yams and basically everything else we wanted to try. The food we did get was cold but still tasted good. It definitely wasn’t worth the wait or the drive.

Fantastic Visit, Will Return - Edit
I went for lunch and the food was delicious. I ordered the BBQ ribs, collard greens, and mac and cheese. I especially loved the BBQ ribs. The sauce on them was amazing. The restaurant was also having a complimentary tasting while we were there, for new items they were looking to add to their menu.

When I try a place I haven’t been to, I usually try the special to see what they are highlighting. This didn’t disappoint! Huge serving a Mac & cheese, a serving collard greens (delicious and savory), and a big bowl of “ribs”, with tons of veggies and a great mix of flavors.
