Serves meat, vegan options available. Restaurant with separate vegan and vegetarian menu. Example offerings include vegan burger, curry, spiced olives, Asian salad, lentil aubergine bake and more. One of several locations. Open Mon-Sun 08:30-00:00.
High end so would expect great food and The Ivy did not disappoint. They have a separate vegan/veggie menu available if you ask for it. I had the gochujang glazed aubergine salad, wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was but it was delicious!
Nice place with a surprising number of vegan options - Edit
The Ivy was once an exclusive London restaurant but now it seems like there's a branch in pretty much every major city in the UK. The York branch opened a few years ago but I imagined that it would be old-fashioned and stuffy with little on offer for vegans so hadn't visited until recently. In reality, it is a fancy place with stylish decor and smartly dressed waiters but it still manages to feel friendly & relaxed so don't feel intimidated!
I was also pleasantly surprised to discover that they have a separate vegan & vegetarian menu. This changes with the seasons but the summer 2025 edition includes four starters (three of which were vegan), five mains (all of which were vegan) and eight desserts (four of which were vegan). So there's actually plenty to choose from!
I was feeling pretty hungry so opted for the vegan cheese burger, which was very nice. The accompanying chips were good too. The Keralan plant-based curry and the gochujang glazed aubergine also sounded very nice so I'll have to come back and try them another time.
