Lovely friendly cafe with separate vegan/gluten free menu - Edit
Visited this bright and friendly cafe on Lyndhurst High Street on Saturday.
Read moreDelighted as vegans to see that there was a separate vegan/gluten free menu which meant no missing out on traditional treats! We enjoyed an excellent treacle tart perfectly balanced with lemon and ginger flavours set in a delicate thin pastry, then delighted in a vegan cream tea. We also tried the vegan pancakes with strawberry compote and maple syrup which were delicious. The only suggestion if costs would permit would be to serve the tasty warmed scone with homemade strawberry jam.
The staff were friendly and the vibe was good. Thank you.

Delicious cream tea, and lunch too! - Edit
We had lunch in this cafe on a busy bank holiday weekend, and I was very impressed with how friendly and helpful the staff were and how many vegan options there were too! A family of four we had 4 different lunches and all were delicious. I had smashed avocado flatbread with caramelised onion sun-dried tomato and balsamic glaze, really good. Others had vegan burger (which changes regularly and is homemade), scrambled chickpea egg on toast and also a vegan mozzarella panini.
Read moreThen the main event, we hardly had room but could not leave without trying the vegan cream tea which was definitely the best we have had (and we have had a few!). Amazing!
There is a vegan and gluten free menu which makes it so much easier. I highly recommend this cafe to any vegans visiting Lyndhurst.

Very vegan friendly - Edit
Fleeting visit to Lyndhurst, found GWT after walking into town and it being one of the only places open at 8:30am - very pleasantly surprised! Loads of vegan and gluten free options, dedicated vegan and GF menu including cream teas, pancakes and plenty of savoury options. Super friendly and a lovely space to spend time. Will definitely come back!

Lovely for afternoon tea - Edit
Really delicious vegan cream tea - scones were well risen, ''flotted cream'' excellent. Also a good number of the cakes on display were plant-based and also gluten free options-all looked delicious. We went for afternoon tea but nice to see a separate vegan/GF menu on each table with the omni ones. Savoury vegan scones also an option. Nice cool air-conditioned room at the back for hot days. Good service.

Decent vegan options - Edit
Lots of vegan options with friendly staff and a good location in the middle of the high street. I went for an all day breakfast with sausage, sweetcorn fritters, scrambled 'egg', hash browns, beans and tomatoes. My wife had the dirty vegan fries with bean chilli on top. Both rated our food at 6.5/10. Solid if not remarkable.

Vegan scones with clotted cream - Edit
They has a separate vegan menu. We shared a vegan cheese and red onion panini which was good. I had a chai latte with soya milk and my partner had an orange hot chocolate with oat milk and vegan cream which said was nice and rich. The star of the show was the vegan scone with jam and clotted cream, or as they call it "flotted cream", which they make themselves and is absolutely delicious. They also sell the cream to take home and you can also order it online.

Wonderful vegan cream tea - Edit
I want to say a big thank you for our wonderful vegan cream tea we enjoyed today at The Greenwood Tree. We are staying in the New Forest for the weekend and we found this absolute gem of a cafe by chance. They serve a huge array of beautiful dishes and all the cakes look delicious.
Read moreMy husband and I are vegan so we were excited to see the vegan cream tea available. It did not disappoint. It was the best cream tea we've ever had. We spoke to the friendly owner and she told us she makes the vegan clotted cream herself. You can even buy it to take away.
We highly recommend it to all vegans and non-vegans. It was absolutely delicious. There were lots of options available of vegan and gluten free foods and drinks.
Even if you are not vegan, the cafe has lots of options and the environment is very warm and welcoming. The staff were all very friendly too.
Thank you for making my husband's birthday lunch treat even more special.

Fantastic options and innovative cafe - Edit
This place was really cool. They had so many vegan and veggie options. Their scrambled egg was quite like any other I’ve tried and it was made from chickpeas! First time was amazing, second time a little salty for my liking but still great. Their vegan sausages were also amazing. They also offer their own homemade vegan clotted cream called Flotted Cream.

A little gem - Edit
Stumbled on this cafe whilst visiting Lyndhurst during a holiday to New Forest. What a pleasant surprise. Although they serve meat dishes, I got the sense they give equal status to their vegan and vegetarian menus, and similarly for their gluten free customers. I had the vegan beetroot burger from the specials board which was thoroughly delicious. The courgette and lemon cake to follow was sublime, and their coffee is of a very high standard. I enjoyed the food and service so much I went back the following morning and had the vegan breakfast to set me up for the long motorbike journey home. I only wish I'd discovered the Greenwood Tree earlier in my stay. Highly recommended.

We stayed in Lyndhurst for two days and ate breakfast at The Greenwood Tree both mornings. Delicious vegan full English with a tasty sweetcorn fritter alternative if you didn't fancy the sausage. Friendly service and an extensive range of vegan options for lunch too. We also had their famous vegan scones, a cheesy savory one and a fruit scone with jam and "flotted" cream. The best vegan scone I have ever eaten! I highly recommend this place.

I GET IT NOW - Edit
Personally, I never cared for the age-old debate of “Scone” or “Scone”; I’ve always upheld the belief that “WHO CARES HOW IT’S PRONOUNCED?! SCONES ARE RUBBISH!” They’re dry and flavourless, regardless of how much cream and jam you put on (sidebar: passionately arguing about which is spread first is a sure-fire way of letting everyone know that you’re the world’s most boring human).
Read moreCut to July 8th, 2023, when a friendly vegan-coded cafe in a small leafy town changed my life forever. The strawberry and cream fudge scone made me feel nostalgic for a time I’d never had: it was perfectly moist, gorgeously flavourful and a really good size. After I’d chowed down every delicious bite, I wiped a tear from my cheek and ran back into the world to make amends to all the people I’d judged (except those jam or cream losers).
I think it’s important that we admit our past mistakes; that’s how we learn and grow as humans. If not for The Greenwood Tree cafe, I doubt I’d be the man I am today: a man who’s proud to admit that he liked a scone that one time. Thank you everyone.
P.S: my panini was good too
