Great Dining

Food and service all great!! The restaurant claims to be vegetarian but absolutely everything on the menu was marked as vegan ( no complaints there!). Started with an onion tart. Moussaka was my main course and finished with a blueberry cheezcake.
Atmosphere very nice.

Hit and miss

It's a very cute environment, super friendly servers, and the menu is varied and unique. I had a feta tart, moussaka, and tiramisu and 2 cocktails.
The tart, drinks, and dessert were all incredible. My main was bland and definitely style over substance. A shame because I really wanted to like it, but I would give it another chance.

Simply Superb 🏆

Amazingly good vegan food. Wonderful premises and atmosphere. And last but not least, lovely staff.
Just close your eyes and pick something, anything from the imaginative and concise menu. And rest assured it will be delicious. That’s how good the food is. One word of advice, be sure to try the vegan tiramisu. It’s yummy 😋

Pros: The Food, The Staff, The Atmosphere

Cons: Not close enough to where I live

Pleasant

Tasty food albeit a bit old fashioned. The staff was friendly and attentive. Please be aware that there's no wheelchair access to the venue.

Fancy-ish and

I went here because it was the only veggie place near my hotel on a work trip.

It was a warm welcoming interior. Super friendly & thoughtful waiter. Quite fancy and rich food.

It was very nice food, maybe something more suited to a special occasion than an everyday meal😄

Pros: Interior, Friendly waiter, Good quality food & flavours

Cons: Expensive , Small portion of rice (but they did bring extra), Location seemed a bit hostile at night

Lovely dinner in London

I enjoyed the meal so much (Aubergine and pumpkin roast) that I didn’t have room for desert. Everyone loved the pear and plum crumble and cheesecake!

Great friendly service and nice lively atmosphere

The food is delicious

The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was phenomenal. Unfortunately, our sides came out 15 minutes after our mains, by which point we had finished eating - the staff didn't seem to think this was an issue, but nonetheless, they did remove these items from the bill, appreciated. It's such a treat to be able to order vegan food of such high quality, especially as many places offer fast food.

Pros: The food was lovely, The presentation was exquisite, Our server It was friendly and jovial

Cons: Some of the staff were a bit aloof/disinterested, The sides came out after we'd finished mains, Quite expensive

Will definitely come again

Staff is amazing, really welcoming, the environment is really nice. They have a beautiful garden and for winter days they have heaters. We ordered Hirata Bun but it was just one bun for £9 so this was a bit unexpected. American pancakes are really delicious except there was too much maple syrup. You might want to ask it on the side.

Pros: Almost everything is vegan, Has many options

Cons: A bit pricey

Elegant establishment paired with quality vegan food

A lovely building and atmosphere tucked away near the station/bus, the food was amazing and had great portion size for quality of food, more then what you’d expect. Good selection of drinks albeit all a bit pricey but felt overall quite satisfied.

Pros: Amazing taste, Attention to detail , Portion size

Cons: A bit pricey , Service a little slow as it got busy

Hidden treasure

It was a little hard to find, but worth looking for. I usually support all vegan places, but this one was worth visiting. Beautiful space, great service, and plenty plant based options. Highly recommended.

Wild Mushroom Festival

If you've got the chance to visit The Gate when they hold the mushroom festival it's well worth going for the explosion of flavours. Really enjoyed the delicate dishes. A must for mushroom lovers!

Incredible dinner experience

I love it here. The food is delicious and the interior is beautiful as it is a converted art studio. It is a little expensive but I believe that you get what you payed for. I love coming here for a special occasion. The staff are lovely and friendly.

Pros: Amazing vegan food, Beautiful setting , Friendly staff

Cons: Pricey , Not accessible for wheelchair users

Lovely small resturant

Nearly walked past the restaurant, it's above a church, it's a cosy place with skylights. It gets busy, but I turned up with someone else and managed to get served (lucky). The food is all vegan and it's a good range

Pros: Vegan resturant, Outside seating available, Good range of food

Cons: Gets busy, Easy to miss from the road

Delicious Dinner

Nice ambiance (went on a night where it wasn’t too busy) and attentive staff. About half the menu is vegan. Really delicious enchiladas and tiramisu!

Good place, not so good building

Eaten here several times. Food is good (prefer their Marylebone restaurant) but the building has high ceilings and little to dampen the noise - meaning when it’s busy it can become very loud with chatter

Pros: Good food

Cons: Noisy

Gone downhill

Used to be great but whilst other restaurants are getting better feels like this place is going downhill. The menu feels dated and hasn't changed much in years, I actually think they have drastically reduced it since covid. The food is average, not horrible but not worth the price. The service we received was poor and there was pretty much no atmosphere, even on a Friday night, I just wanted to eat and get out of there. Sadly not an enjoyable experience and for the price there are much better options. I hope they make improvements because I used to love this place.

Pros: Fully veggi / vegan , Good location

Cons: Not many options , Expensive

The Gate

I like the decor/ambiance of this The Gate best for some reason. The food is usually almost exactly the same as the other locations, which is always tasty. (I consistently order the polenta fries, yum!) Definitely recommend you stop by if you find yourself peckish while in the area. See attached photos of their tasty food.

Delicious

I love The Gate restaurant chain - the menu is now fully vegan and there a really good variety of choice in dishes.

We had the fried tofu as our starter.
For mains we had the tortilla, the vegan burger and the veggie gyoza. All three mains were extremely tasty - really lovely and fresh, rich flavours.
For dessert we tried the sticky toffee pudding (amazing) and the chocolate mouse ball (also very nice).

The service towards the end, when we were ordering and waiting for our desserts, became a lot slower. However this was partly due to the fact the restaurant had become extremely busy and was completely full. The staff were apologetic of the wait and the ambience generally in the restaurant was really lovely.

Just to note, this is quite an expensive restaurant and I would never usually pay the amount I paid for this dinner. However the quality of the food is high, which makes up slightly for the elevated prices.

They do a great lunch deal menu during the week as well, for either two courses or three courses.

Pros: All vegan and vegetarian, Amazing food, Great dessert options

Cons: Expensive
