To a city that they live on

My benchmark curry is the madras. It sorts the men out from the boys. Here at The Capital you will get quite an exceptional madras in my opinion. As soon as you walk in you just need to open your nostrils to know you are in a good place. My new go to sit-in curry house in Durham, the Land of The Prince Bishops. On a recent visit in May 2023 prices here have gone up quite significantly with veg side dishes now £7.99 and main courses £11.99. A portion of boiled rice is an incredible £5.50 making our meal for three over £90. I cannot justify returning unfortunately unless it’s for an annual celebration or festive season treat.

Great choice

This is a really nice restaurant, it’s very smart and comfortable inside and the food is of a very high standard. The staff are really friendly and helpful, as a previous reviewer stated, you just need to tell them you’re vegan and they will deliver.

They will happily cater for vegans

Visited this restaurant on a few occasions. Menu is predominantly meat based however the vast majority of vegetarian dishes are suitable for vegans as they do not contain dairy. Delicious vegan curries, adapted especially for customers’ dietary requirements. Staff come to speak to you beforehand to find out what is/is not suitable to your diet so they can cook your food exactly to your request. Would recommend the Vegetable Balti, the Vegetable Sabsi Bahar, and the Aloo Gobi.

Pros: Delicious food, Lots of options which can be veganised, Lots of options already accidentally vegan

Cons: No suitable naan bread, You have to make clear your dietary requirement, No vegan labels on the menu
