Friendly Service - Edit
The main reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the service was so friendly. The food was pretty good, but didn't merit the price. I had adobu tofu and my friend had Mediterranean stew. The stew was definitely the better deal as far as flavor and quantity.

Excellent vegan options - Edit
Always hard to find good vegan choices on the road. This sweet little locally owned spot had several great options, very delicious and well prepared and served. The owner knows her product and explained how things were prepared and ingredients. The vegan desserts were spectacular! Very sweet and cozy location and great service.
Read morePros: Excellently prepared, Several options for vegabs, Delicious, would give 5 stars if Possible
Cons: Only open in the evening , A little pricey but it is a local shop

Next time I am going to try the vegan Mushroom Chickpea Strogonoff! My date ate seafood which he said was very good. Full Bar, warm cozy atmosphere, will definitely be back!

Upscale option with multiple vegan choices - Edit
Six friends and I stopped in here for dinner during our last night in Bar Harbor. We had previously called the owner to make a reservation and let her know that we were all vegan. She said she loved cooking for vegans and was thrilled to have us!
Read moreWhen we arrived our table was all set up and our server knew we would all be vegan and informed us about all of our vegan options. She was so informed that she mentioned that one of the sauces included a wine that wasn't vegan but they could just leave the wine out of the sauce (to be honest, I don't think we would have worried about that).
For an entree we tried one of the house salads and a black bean soup. For entrees we tried the Korean BBQ Tofu, Filipino Tofu, a vegetable stew, and a bean and mushroom stroganoff.
There were supposed to be three dessert options, but alas, one of them (the chocolate nut strudel) had burnt during preparation so we ended up eating the other two - a toffee apple caramel ice cream sundae and a double cinnamon strudel. Both were served with almond milk ice cream and both were excellent.
The real high point was our waitress who was amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, patient about answering our questions.
I definitely suggest checking this out at least once while you're in Bar Harbor.
Pros: Multiple vegan options, Friendly and knowledgeable staff, Yummy desserts!
Cons: Food is pricey

Nice atmosphere and tasty food - Edit
My wife picked this restaurant for our last meal in Bar Harbor, and it was really nice. It's a small restaurant with really cozy decoration. There were 4 entrees on the menu that had a vegan option, plus 3 desserts. We had the Filipino Adobo tofu and the mushroom bean stroganoff. Both were really tasty and the right amount of food. For dessert we shared a delicious apple toffee sundae, it hit the spot without leaving us feeling stuffed. Great place, we'll definitely come back next time we're in town.

Lovely Place for Vegans and Non-Vegans Alike - Edit
My dining companion is vegan so we chose The Blue Door which had nice sounding seafood and nice sounding vegan options. The vegan Mushroom stroganoff sounded so good we both ordered it. We shared a lovely green salad with toasted walnuts and artichoke hearts and a fantastic maple balsamic dressing. We didn't order dessert but they had 2 vegan options! This is a good place for eclectic dinner choices and also charming eclectic atmosphere. They have a liquor license and that is nice too! I would like to give them 5 stars but only vegan restaurants can get 5 stars on Happy Cow so I give them 4 stars

Wonderful Vegan Options - Edit
Had two great meals. Bobbie Lynn is an amazing vegan chef; wonderful Korean BarBQ Tofu; amazing vegan salad with her homemade dressing. And a couple of fantastic dessert options. GREAT vegan options in Bar Harbor. One of the best vegan meals we've had in our extensive travels.

Very disappointing - Edit
Menu is mostly seafood. There was only ONE veg/vegan main course, adobo tofu, which was OK but pricy and on the salty side. They do offer vegan ice cream and will sub almond milk in the soup. Tomato chowder was watery and too heavy on the oregano. We did better at Galyns, which is definitely not veg, but offered tasty chick pea cakes (veg) and cauliflower "steak" (vegan) with generous and delicious sides.

Delicious meal in an inviting space - Edit
Armed with the Happy Cow listing, my husband and I headed to dinner at the Blue Door. We were greeted by Bobbie Lynn, the executive chef and owner and seated at a cozy table by the window. The dining room is lovingly filled wth an eclectic mix of furniture, paintings and trinkets, and jazzy vocal standards provide the background. Many vegan choices for each course were listed on the menu, with others easily made vegan. We started with the Cafe Salad (wonderful maple dressing) and Turkish White Bean Soup, followed by the Mediterranean Vegetable Stew with tofu points and a delicate tomato fennel broth. The desserts were too enticing to pass up, so we had the Dark Chocolate and Nut Strudel and the Blueberry Sundae, both with coconut ice "cream". The cafe has a full bar, and a wonderful signature cocktail, a ginger-cranberry cosmopolitan. We wish we were staying longer in Bar Harbor so we could sample more of the menu. The sesame crusted tofu and the tofu adobo looked yummy! The cafe is a true gem, and has selections to appeal to vegans and non-vegans alike. We will be back next year!

Delicious vegan dishes - Edit
This small, locally-owned eatery has great dishes on their menu that will appeal to vegans and carnivores alike. About half the menu is vegan-friendly, and dishes rotate seasonally. We had the Filipino adobo tofu and the Mediterrean tofu strudel. Both were excellent. The vegan options here are creative and are clearly prepared with just as much care as the rest of the menu. My mother had a seafood Mediterranean stew that she loved. The owner was our server, and she was funny, engaging, and provided great service. She took the time to get to know us and shared stories of her family recipes that were on the menu. It was a wonderful dining experience. There are multiple vegan dessert options, and we'll be returning to try them. I would absolutely award The Blue Door five stars if happy cow allowed. A fantastic choice for vegans (and their seafood-seeking companions) in Bar Harbor!
