Tasty vegan options - Edit
Loved the vegan ramen bowls. One of the best things we ate on MDI. Entire menu is at least vegetarian. Also love that all profits go to a nonprofit!

Absolutely delicious - Edit
Honestly the best vegan ramen I think I have ever had (not counting in Japan!). This place is incredible. Everything is at least vegetarian and they offer two vegan options, and vegan sides. The spicy mushroom is my favorite but they are both delicious. The shishitos were also phenomenal. Do not miss this spot if you are in Bar Harbor and Acadia!

Delicious ramen - Edit
We were recently in Tokyo and Okinawa and had countless vegan ramen soups. This one didn’t disappoint!! 10/10 and we as well highly recommend adding the tofu to your ramen! Friendly staff and simple interior. We liked it!

Very delicious ramen - Edit
There are 4 ramen options, all vegan or veganizable. There are also drinks and small appetizers. One ramen was out of stock. I tried the rich shoyu ramen (veganized, without the egg) and the spicy miso ramen. Both were very good. The fried tofu in the rich shoyu ramen was out of this world, so if you can, I highly recommend getting it added in your ramen if it doesn’t come with it already. The yuzu-ade was tart and refreshing. I would come back to try others! Really exciting to see a vegetarian place where everything can be made vegan on MDI. Much needed!!!

Best vegan food we had in Bar Harbor - Edit
We were pleasantly surprised at how amazing the food is here. This was our best vegan meal in Bar Harbor. All the vegan items we had were amazing. The spicy vegan ramen (I think called XO) was particularly incredible.

The BEST vegan eats in Bar Harbor! - Edit
Seriously the BEST ramen we’ve ever eaten. We had the XO ramen with extra fried Heiya tofu (trust me you’ll want extra of this tofu) and it was incredible. We also had the spicy mushroom miso ramen and added tofu which was also delicious and fiery. The mushrooms were marvelous. This place is brilliant even if the menu is small. The flavors are perfection and your bowl will be empty. What more is there to say? So good.

Underrated Gem - Edit
Really lovely atmosphere encouraging great community qualities! Not entirely vegan, but multiple options that are delicious. I've had both vegan ramen options, the potato salad special, and the seitan bao buns. I believe there are no dairy products used at all, but some options have egg.

Cons: Bao buns misleading and expensive (but still good)

Delicious, mostly vegan menu - Edit
This is a great option for vegans in Bar Harbor. I appreciate that profits go to support Open Table MDI. Be aware that if you dine in, you have to be able to order using a QR code; there is no table service. The food is great and the menu is mostly vegan. My favorite was the bao buns. Also tried the spicy mushroom miso ramen and the shishito peppers which were excellent, and a yuzu curd-filled donut that was on special and was amazing. It's located on the less-busy end of Cottage St so I easily found parking around dinnertime (but I'm sure that depends on what time of year you are here). My mouth is watering again thinking about that donut...

I loved the XO vegan ramen as well as the seitan bao. Also they have some vegan baked goods, got a chocolate chip cookie with a matcha marble. Definitely best vegan meal in Bar Harbor.

Finally - Edit
I love so much about this place! As a gluten free vegan living here, I rarely ever go out. There just aren’t options. So to have a place capable (and willing) to making all entrees v/gf makes me feel more welcome than any other establishment on the island.
Read moreThe food itself is beautiful and tasty. High quality ingredients, and everything is handmade (even the noodles.) For those who think the price is high - yeah, it’s an island. Nothing is cheap here, especially not ingredients which aren’t mainstream in this area. And knowing that profits are going back into the community, helping the island’s food insecurity issues, makes me more than willing to pay.
For those who think the food is bland. It probably is if your taste buds are jacked up from eating a diet of predominantly processed food. I eat a whole food diet, and found flavors of my ramen bowl to be amazing (saltier than I’m used to, but I don’t normally eat salt.)
I’m blown away by the fact that the brains behind this is two recent grads in their 20’s. Bravo!!! They’re bringing much desired quality to town.
Order by QR code, but feel free to pop your head into the kitchen to ask a question. Find an open seat along the community tables, and chat up some strangers. Lots of locals here, many from the college.
This is a great experience, something different from the typical tourist food scene. Come with an open mind & you likely won’t be disappointed 🥰
Check Instagram & website for updates.
Pros: All entrees can be made vegan by omitting egg, Supporting community, All handmade
Cons: Parking can be a waiting game

Best Vegan meal in Bar Harbor - Edit
So good for so many reasons.
Read moreWe had a delicious vegan lunch in Bar Harbor and I’m not afraid to say that is was also the best ramen I’ve had in Maine.
The hardest thing about the ordering process was choosing from all the yummy options.
We started with the Seitan Bao Buns Ⓥ a perfect and tasty appetizer to share with a friend.
For our ramen bowls we had the XO Ⓥ, and the Spicy Mushroom Miso Ⓥ . Excellent portion sizes super hearty, fresh, and delicious.
We enjoyed iced Yuzu for our beverage and a super yummy vegan cookie for desert.
All profits from the restaurant go to support Open Table MDI and their work to build community and decrease food insecurity.
Great food, great cause, 100% vegetarian, and mostly Vegan. All great reasons to visit Cottage St. Ramen for the best food in Bar Harbor.
Pros: Almost entirely vegan, Profits support local food security nonprofit , Straight up delicious food
