A few vegan options

Vegan options are clearly labeled. Some pricing seems a bit high.

so many great options!!!

this place was life changing - i went twice during my weekend in rochester. the coconut curry & red curry with tofu were fantastic. very tasty & large options. they had a vegan dessert special - passionfruit coconut panna cotta but i’m not sure if there’s a vegan dessert available year round. many delicious cocktail options but I opted for the thai tea with coconut milk and it was delicious. don’t skip this place!!! 🇹🇭🥥🥕🧋

Pros: gorgeous restaurant , knowledgeable staff , delicious food

Excellent vegan options

I was in Rochester for 3 nights, found Thai pop on 2nd day. Sooooo good I went back on my 3rd night.
Green beans and tofu in yum yum sauce was just delicious.
The vegan LAAB HET (tofu salad) was fantastic which came with a sticky rice. Had a mocktail spicy marg.
Next night I went back for the green beans and tofu again, this time I changed up the main to coconut vegetables with jasmine rice and a coco no loco.
Thai pop was such a good find and made my stay in Rochester easy.

Yummy & GF/Vegan options!!

I loved that they had GF/ Vegan options clearly listed!!!! Yay! Nice casual ambiance, good service, and varied menu to fit everyone’s eating style. Prices and portion sizes were good / average. (Clean restroom bonus)

Pros: Gluten free options, Vegan / vegetarian options, Non alcoholic beverage choices (teas and coffee)

Good Flavors

Very clearly labeled menu with vegan items and items that can be modified to be vegan. Lots of tofu based and coconut milk options. Appetizers are very flavorful and the servings sizes for the entrees are HUGE. Easily provides 3 full meals for an adult.

Best Restaurant in Rochester, MN for Vegans

I love Thai Pop. I always get the tofu satay or the cauliflower yum pops; they’re fantastic. I also get the Tom Kha soup with tofu and rice extra spicy with Thai chilies on the side as well. Sometimes I try new things, but the Tom Kha soup is my favorite and always makes at least two meals.

Not Your Typical Thai

I suggested this place for the family to eat tonight. I’m the only vegan so I didn’t need a ton of options. We ordered the cauliflower yum pops and I ordered the vegan massaman curry with tofu and the vegan Thai Tea. I asked for spice, and they gave me additional chili oil to add to my dish so I could add the level of spice I liked. Everyone thought the food was delicious and it’s such a fun atmosphere. If you plan on eating on Friday or Saturday, I’d say make a reservation. This place was pretty busy for a Wednesday night.

Pros: Excellent service, Knowledgeable staff, Delicious food

Fresh and clearly labeled but bland

We had dinner here with family and it was better than some local places. Fresh ingredients and the menu clearly labeled what was vegan and gluten free. The staff was also knowledgeable about how to adapt some sauces. The that iced tea could be made vegan.

As with many restaurants, it is hard to know how spicy to request food. I have ordered mild at some places and it was intolerable to eat, and I have a good tolerance for heat usually. To be safe, I ordered a low heat dish coconut and vegetables dish, but it came out very bland. My husband got a curry plate with veges, and it was also very bland. We tried the cauliflower “pops” appetizer and it was not what I expected- just tossed in a really mild seasoning and roasted. Pretty boring. We were not impressed. We may try again and request more flavorful options to give them one more try.

Vegan options

As vegans we have limited options for dining out but this place did not disappoint! We did not have reservations but we were seated fairly quickly on a Friday night around 6:00 p.m. We were able to sit at the bar and experience the servers making drinks and fast service. There are several vegan appetizers, drinks and dishes. Everything we ordered was delicious and very large portions! Lovely ambience, delicious vegan dishes!

Pros: Several vegan options , Great drinks, Lovely ambience

Cons: On the pricy side, Parking might be limited, Longer wait on weekends without reservations

Good Thai cuisine

I liked the authenticity of the flavours. I agree with others that the vegan options should be expanded. But the ones they have are truly delicious 😋

Pros: Lab heet , Tofu satay, Mango desert

Cons: Not enough vegan options

Only one main option

Update: I finally made it over to eat here. For food they have two vegan appetizers, one vegan salad, and one vegan “main” item which is a noodle soup. The vegan items are labeled on the menu. I tried both appetizers and the noodle soup. Everything was fine. I wish they had more options- especially for a Thai restaurant where essentially everything can be made vegan if the care to do that (just leave out the fish sauce).

I previously had written to them and asked if they had vegan menu items. They responded that they "couldn't" make most of their food vegan because they use a fish sauce, but they had one menu item that could be made vegan. I've been to many Thai restaurants where they have basically everything that can be made vegan, so I don't know why it is so difficult for this restaurant. I suspect that they just don't care to serve the vegan community. (When this restaurant was just a pop up, they said they absolutely would not make any modifications for vegetarian or vegan eaters.)

Hey Lynn, according to the menu on the website (as of May 1, 2022), the labeled vegan options are: watercress salad; tofu satay; cauliflower yum pops. There's also a dish called "laab het" which is marked as vegetarian and seems to be vegan based on the listed ingredients. Regardless, it would be a shame if the restaurant only has one vegan option.

Need more vegan options

Everything we had on our first visit to Thai Pop was amazing! I just had 2 appetizers as a meal since I wasn’t very hungry and there are limited vegan options for the entrées. We both tried their new vegan entrée called Salted pea tips but it was literally just a plate of steamed greens with some garlic flavor served with rice. We told them how boring the dish is and recommended that they take it off their menu as an entrée option. The best part is that they have vegan Thai Iced Tea served with coconut milk and it’s absolutely delicious!

Pros: Vegan Thai iced tea, Amazing vegan appetizers , Friendly staff

Cons: Lacking vegan entree options , Boring vegan entree of greens as an entrée option

The tom yum soup and tom kha soups (both with tofu) recently fell off their menu but are excellent vegan options. I've been there often and they do make it upon request.
