Delicious and Quirky! - Edit
Relaxed, shabby atmosphere, fairly high prices, and great flavorful food! The menu listed items like 'vegan plate' and 'Jamaican plate' with no descriptions, but the staff was very kind and answered questions and made recommendations. It's super tiny in there, with one big communal table, and 2 two-tops and three seats at the front. I had the Jamaican plate and everything on it was delicious! A veg curry, a little salad with a blob of cold mashed potatoes on top (Why? Why not, I say! They were tasty), a large serving of Japanese rice, and a large breaded and fried banana slice. My husband had the burger but it was more like a po-boy as it had an open bun with a breadcrumbed baked vegan meat product (not a patty so much as an American would think of) with a thin layer of mayo-like dressing with added vegan cheese (like a thick creamy texture) and giant strips of vegan bacon that seemed similar to fake ham I've seen in Asian places before. It was odd but oh so good! We got those two entrees and one bottled drink and it was about 35 Euros. There was a strange smiling guy with a snake tattoo where one of his eyebrows should have been at the check out whose only job seemed to be to DJ the low key dub techno music they were playing. There was a dance event happening throughout the city that might explain Mr. DJ, but keep your eyes out for him, he was cool. They have a horrible, garrish mural along one whole wall so you've been warned.

In love with its vibes! - Edit
Magnificent place! Beautiful people working there and the fact that there's only one dining table so you should eat together with strangers makes everything even better. The food is a delicious fusion of Caribbean and Asian tastes.

the best food worldwide - Fact - Edit
I was hooked from the first bite, amazing food that excited the taste buds. Admittedly the restaurant front is a bit tired and could do with a refurb but when you start eating it’s soon forgotten. The family are pleasant and approachable. The only thing I’m upset about is their not based in the UK ha

Unusual vegan food - Edit
TerraZen is an unusual and quirky place to eat in Amsterdam.
Read moreThe menu is a chalked board, showing options with little description. Asking about the meals resulted in a vague description, with little details. A number of the options were inspired by Caribbean or Japanese food.
When the meals arrived, they didn't always match the descriptions - but were really interesting and tasty. For example, a "burger" with extra cheese turned out to be a section of split baguette with slices of coated tempeh; "chicken" nuggets; salad; and yes, some cheese on top - much better than expected and very tasty.
Cold dirnks are available on a shelf - you can just help yourself, and get it added to the bill.
Prices are a little high - but it is in the centre of Amsterdam, only a few minutes walk from Centraal station.
Not a standard restaurant - but well worth experiencing during a visit to Amsterdam.
Pros: Lovely vegan food, Unusual options, Friendly staff
Cons: A bit pricey, Can be a bit unpredictable - which can be a "pro"

Nice food, but overpriced - Edit
Food was nice, shared a Jamaican brown, and a vegan bowl, milkshake and cheer cake. Service was very slow (waited almost an hour for food), and staff were inattentive. Also was pretty overpriced for what it is.

It was OK - Edit
I've only been the once and people seem to rave about this place but I wasn't overly impressed.
Read moreI took my parents here while they were visiting Amsterdam and they were also not impressed. It's hugely overpriced for what it is. One of the bowl dishes was pretty good but the rest were pretty average for about EUR19, I expected more.
Pros: One of the dishes was very nice
Cons: It's expensive for what it is, Hole in the wall

favourite vegan place to eat in Amsterdam ! - Edit
Feels like you've just been invited to the owners home. Amazing atmosphere insanely good comforting food. We both adore the crispy roti wrap! We come twice a day when in Amsterdam as a standard!

slow service - Edit
Came a second time in for dinner. The place only had the worker working. All the sitting places were messy with dirty plates. Had to sit ourselves down, only to have the man yell ( actually raised his voice) .because I lease the dirty plates where we sat. I have been to a lot of places in my life, this one was one of the worst by far. Sad to have such an experience in a vegan place, we left the moment he yelled.Hope they improve.

Excellent food. - Edit
Made a reservation for me, 7 of my colleagues who are omnivores and this resulted in us having the big table in the middle completely for us.
Read moreTo me it felt like a nice vegan community place, some kind of relaxed, Bob Marley style, now my colleagues weren't really that pleased with it.
They complained there was no wine or other alcohol, the table was never cleaned and pretty dirty and they didn't quite well understand what was on the menu.
At the end, we all decided to take the vegan plate.
One thing we all agreed on, was that the food was great and delicious.
Overall, it was a good experience for me as a vegan.
Pros: Excellent food
Cons: Small space, Not really clean, Was not attractive for omnivores

Better than expected! - Edit
We tried this place on our last night in town. We had the spring rolls, the roti wrap, and the Jamaican plate and I was blown away! Service was a little slow but I'm hoping that's because my dish was made fresh :)

The venue is a bit small but the menu offered so many choices! I had the rasta pasta which was delicious. They were very open to my companion's gluten free needs.

barretta di cioccolato al latte buonissima! - Edit

Amazing spring rolls, average main and weird setting - Edit
The spring rolls were amazing and the staff were really nice, but the noodle dish was just very average. The menu was also only available on a chalk board , the floor was a serious safety hazard (completely uneven) and the decor was just a bit... weird. There was also no toilet - I was told to go ask next door (in the steak restaurant) to use theirs. Would not go back - just really wasn't worth the price for the service and the taste.

So GOOD! - Edit
This cute little place had such great food and selection! Small place so tables fill up fast when it is busy. There was 1 server for the whole place so if you are in a rush, plan ahead. It was very cool to meet other traveling vegans at the larger community style table too. We would go back for sure!

My favourite - Edit
Caribbean/Japanese fusion food. Just like the family of the chef. My man likes to play reggae and dub tunes that are slightly too loud for restaurant standards. But he is quickly forgiven as it just adds to the soul of the place.
Read moreMost dishes end up kind of similar but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. The chef clearly has his style and it keeps me coming back for more. So there's not much to argue there!
Definitely check it out and don't forget to read the guestbook. It gets just as creative as the food :)

Really unique flavors, a little pricey, grumpy chef and seemingly confused hostess. Weirdly buggy with massive amounts of big mosquitos.

Amazing food in cozy location - Edit
This was the first restaurant I visited in Amsterdam due to its proximity to the typical attractions in the city. The space itself is small and interesting. It has a cozy feeling, I like it. The food - exceptional! I absolutely loved it. I could've eaten an entire plate of just the vegetables that were on my plate in the Vegan Plate meal. My traveling companion got the Jamaican Plate - he is not a vegan and absolutely loved it. I tried some of his plate as well - such a wonderful coconut sauce, yum yum. Highly recommended stop when in Amsterdam!

Yummy "burger" - Edit
We had a delicious lunch at TerraZen - we each ordered the burger. It came with stir-fried veg on one side and salad on the other side. It seemed to be more like "mock chicken" than "mock burger", but that was fine with us. Be prepared to wait a while, but it is worth the wait
Read moreThe place is quite small (seats about 15 max) and the decor "funky". Two other parties got takeaway, which would be a good choice on a nice day.
The restaurant is very close to the tram stop of 1, 2 and 5 lines.

food is great - Edit
There are so many options to choose from and the meals we had were so full of flavour and delicious! Only thing that stops this place from being a 5* is the fact that we were being bitten by bugs for most of it. But don't let that put you off this place. The food is worth it!
