Hits the spot but not mind-blowing - Edit
The friendly, welcoming staff is the real appeal of Tenat, in my opinion. Obviously a purely vegan Ethiopian place is also something of a gift, especially to those of us who travel frequently & are exposed to a lot of unequivocally great veggie fare - that includes some of the best vegan Ethiopian food anywhere, in L.A. and San Francisco.
Unfortunately this is not a spectacular example of what Ethiopian food has to offer. The injera was spot-on authentic, but the various wots on the "injera plate" weren't seasoned properly - some too salty, some too bland, some too watery. What I'm assuming was supposed to be yesimir kik wot was more like a lentil puree and not really manageable in this form. All of these should be stewed slowly and seasoned carefully. One would kind of expect something outrageously good in the most Ethiopian-concentrated part of town. Still, a good offering and a definite treat.
They also made a beet & apple juice "cocktail" to order, and that was delicious. I'm giving Tenat a generous 4 for the lovely staff.
Pros: Staff!
Cons: Seasoning was off

Amazing vegan Ethiopian food - Edit
Delicious food, generous portions and very reasonable prices. Will definitely eat at Tenat again. Food is authentic Ethiopian and served on ingera, to be eaten with hands, but utensils available upon request. Very highly recommended!
Pros: Tasty food, Large portions, Helpful staff

In Tel Aviv? Don't leave without coming here! - Edit
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Tel Aviv! It has a very cool ethnic vibe which you see in the decor and you hear from the exotic Ethiopian background music. Owner Yitzhak is usually on the premises and speaks English - he is very happy to explain what the different dishes are. And the dishes are wonderfully delicious - you are encouraged to eat without utensils, Ethiopian style. But utensils are provided for those who prefer them.
I highly recommend the Ingera Plate and the Ingera Mushroom dish, which meat eaters tend to love because it reminds them of meat. But the place is 100% vegan! Also the layered shake is delicious with some unexpected flavors. And they make a kind of pudding dessert (like malabi) made with teff which is not too sweet. Also, try their spiced Ethiopian tea.
Pros: Great food, Great atmosphere, Inexpensive

aaahhhh!!! - Edit
I have had a lot of good food during my three week stay in Israel and I can easily say that Tenat had the best. The atmosphere is lovely, I couldn't stop smiling. From the tea to the main courses to the cold drinks, everything is so so so amazing. Very evident that the food is fresh. Everything was spiced very well and wasn't too salty like some Ethiopian food can be. The owner was very welcoming and also spoke English. Please do yourself a favor and go!
Pros: excellent food, friendly staff , amazing vibe

Ethiopian Tel Aviv - Edit
Tenat restaurant was my first contact with Ethiopian food. I ordered Ingera Plate (small version). Small version wasn't small at all. I had a problem to eat all of it. Ingera is a kind of bread made from teff (whatever it is). On a top of it I had a smashed potatoes with carrot and onion + spicy red sauce + dish that tasted like Indian Dhal + small salad.
For all who loves to try something different than hummus and falafel in Israel and Palestine, Tenat is a very good option.
Pros: very friendly staff, quality of food, close to the central station of TLV
Cons: price
