Hier gibt’s die echte Kao Soi und viele andere „Fleischgerichte“ mit Pilzen ersetzt. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Khao Soi is amazing - Edit
Must try the khao soi. We also got a few of the items at the buffet- mushroom balls and fried sticky rice and mushroom. The mushroom balls were cold but still good. The he fried sticky rice was served with pieces on ginger- so so good. I’m not sure what else I got but it was alright.

My favorite restaurant in Chiang Rai - Edit
The Khao soi here is amazing! It is the best I have had so far. And the buffet part has plenty of choice if you go early in the day.
Read moreThe sweet tiny pastries they sell are so good! And they even sell black tahini (black sesame seed paste).
The staff ladies are very nice as well ❤️

Great food! - Edit
I enjoyed my Kao Soi here. Moreover, we also tried some of the buffet which was also pretty good. Because we were headed north for a couple of days we also took some take-away. The people here are very nice. They also sell some sweet/savoury stuff in the front. They have a large seating area!

Rustic, Unfussy Thai Charm - a Must Visit - Edit
Caveat - we love this place. It has a perfectly unfussy, rustic Thai charm that had us returning for breakfasts and lunches. It's fully vegan (kin jay), so it was great for us to fully relax into the menu. It consists of a bain-marie-style offerings and noodle dishes like Koi San and a dry Tom Yum with soup on the side.
Read moreWe didn't see any Westerners while we were there, but we're so impressed that we want to ensure that Tamachat gets the recognition it deserves. The spice (phed) levels are mild to start with, but if you're feeling adventurous, it can be taken to deliciously challenging levels (phed mak mak).
It is also incredible value for money, and a big breakfast for two put us back the equivalent of about $US5.
Also, use Google Maps to find this place. Apple Maps sent us to the other end of town and for a time, there was much disappoint.
Pros: Rustic charm, Seriously tasty offerings, Lovely staff
Cons: Apple Maps directions are wrong, use Google Maps, Not opened late enough if you're on a day trip

If this is what heaven is like, kill me now - Edit
The whole vibe of this place is so wholesome. The women behind the counter were so friendly and helped us pick what we wanted. And the Khao Soi was so spectacular! They also have a lot of snacks so we could fill up our bags.

Cool set up and good food. - Edit
The food here was good and the high ceilings and wood furniture made it a little more homely then other Kin Jay places I’ve been to. The mushroom loaf stuff was very good!

Tamachat and a meal - Edit
This place was really convenient for lunch when we arrived at the bus station. It’s a superior jay restaurant with dishes made to order as well as a buffet and food store. We ordered a few dishes from the menu and they ranged from OK: the boat noodles and vegetables, with a fairly bland broth and gristly mushroom balls, to delicious: the Khao soi, to amazing: the stewed mushroom with noodles, with us rich tasty broth. Staff were friendly, generous and helpful. Definitely a place for lunch when you’re in Chiang Rai town (as it’s not open for dinner). Super low prices too - ฿45 per meal. #Veganuary

Unusual pleasure - Edit
One of the best Vegan meals I had anywhere in Thailand, and I had MANY 🌱. This place is run by a bunch of older ladies, they cook in the early hours of the day, and serve from around 6:30am to early afternoon hours. Different dishes each day, really good noodle soup, Chinese noodles, Khao Soi and basically anything in the pre-made bar. I ate there 3 times in my 3 days visit to Chiang Rai, each meal better than previous. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cheap and tasty - Edit
You can choose from a variety already prepared dishes which are really fresh. I’ve chosen sth that looked appealing to me, not really knowing what it is but all the things appeared to be very tasty. Also the price is cheap. I strongly recommend the place.

Get There Early - Edit
Tamachat was closed every time I went by. Also there was no name for the restaurant when closed, other than the big "Vegetarian" on the awning. Finally two days before leaving Chiang Rai and Thailand, made it there by 2 p.m. Sold out of everything except the noodle bowls. I had the specialty khao soi which was delicious. My friend had the mushroom balls and noodles. Before leaving we spoke with the owner who's command of English was very good. She had earlier helped us make our selections. She did not know about Happy Cow so I explained it to her and told her about all the well-deserved reviews. My friend who is staying in Chiang Rai another month has put it on her list of "definitely a repeat."

Fantastic food - Edit
Not your typical Jay restaurant as it’s very big, they have hot food and a specific station for noodles/khao soi. We got some freshly made Koh soi and boat noodles. Both were very good but especially the khao soi. Nice seating. Free water available. Very good value #Veganuary
