Great quick lunch

This is a great spot to go for a quick lunch that is actually healthy. The food is yummy with lots of choices snd it's all vegan! Being a food hall, the atmosphere is never going to be my favourite, but as food halls go it's a pretty nice one with lots of natural light...

healthy bowls

Contrary to the blurb above, there are not only grains to chose as bases, but also spinach leaves, mashed pumpkin, and mashed potato. You chose one or two bases (which is nice if you wanna mix it up) with 4-6 other dishes and sides and it'll cost you between $12.80 - $14.80.

Now that we've got that cleared up, on with the review. I found the ordering system a bit disfunctional. You pick up a printed menu and tick off the things you want. Seems simple and efficient but I found myself looking from the sheet to the glass counter where the food was displayed, trying to work out what I was ordering. The dishes and sides are listed under headings which can also cause a little confusion. I ordered "cauliflower, black turtle beans, tumeric, and curry leaves" from the "smashes" section of the menu and (thankfully) there was nothing smashed about it. I love that there are influences of a bunch of different national cuisines - Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, European - so that you can design your bowl depending on what you feel like on the day. If you want to go for a bit of everything, that's fine too and, mercifully, they don't load all the food into the one bowl, letting the flavours mingle. I also love the range of fermented foods on offer and that there's a good balance between proteins, grains, and fresh veggies. I found 4 items for $12.80 reasonably priced for a nicely filling, fast lunch in the CBD that I felt good about eating. If you don't mind sitting next to people scoffing burgers and fish and chips (don't bother me), the Emporium food court is much plusher than your average.

I also grabbed a slice of the raw, vegan, lemon cheesecake to take away. There's a great selection made of the Mornington Peninsula by "Evelyn" for $7.80 each. I usually find raw vegan cakes a bit too rich and greasy with all the coconut and cashew but this one was a dream. Light, fluffy, creamy, with a refreshing lemon tang. They're packaged with a full ingredients list to prove just how full of lovely things (like activated macadamias, coconut water, and Victorian Murray River gourmet salt) they are. Be careful if you're taking away, though - they're precious little treasures and crumble easily.

I'm looking forward to trying some more of their stuff. Already planning my next bowl.

Pros: fermented foods, healthy, gorgeous cakes

Cons: some dishes don't pack a flavour punch

Great option for the mall/cbd

It would be nice to have a boutique vegan caf around every corner in the city but if you're shopping or in the CBD really this place is great! Their bowls are hearty and satisfying, really tasty salad, raw foods, fermented etc. Not the cheapest but ok I think for the quality.

I only knocked a star off because;
a) Availability of produce: they were out of quinoa, got couscous instead, no biggie, but also the edamame beans we ordered were meant to come with a dressing and wakame seaweed. 99% certain it was straight up beans, had no other flavour - probably would have ordered something else if I'd known
b) Plastic usage: dessert slices are in plastic pots, even if you are eating in and, due to unavailability of bowls (yeah ??!), they were also serving dahl etc in plastic pots. Seemed wasteful to me, probably won't bother some.

Pros: Vegan , Fresh, tasty, filling

Cons: Too much plastic

Good vegan mall food court option

The food at Supercharger is seriously tasty and a good option when you're in the city and in a rush. As one of the previous reviews points out it can be a bit complicated to order and it's very expensive for what you get ($13+), I'm always hungry an hour after.

Pros: Fully vegan, central location, delicious food

Cons: Very expensive for portion size

excellent food

Really healthy vegan food that taste great.
A lot of reviews mention how confusing the menu can be but they also have "all ready" sets for a fair price ( 13,9$, maybe they introduced that recently).
Had one of them and really enjoyed it , the portion was also generous and I left with the belly full but not feeling heavy .

Room for improvement

There is a serious lack of vegan eateries within the CBD, so Supercharger is a one genuine option. Service tends to be prompt and staff are friendly.

There is a fairly good range of meal options to choose from however I have often found their ordering system to be overly complicated. One is given a pencil to fill in box choices from a larger list. What has made this process more difficult is that none of their food items on display are labelled. This means ordering is not exactly user-friendly. (The exception is their smoothies, juices and desserts section which are labelled.)

It is disappointing that their food is not organic.

Pros: In the heart of the CBD

Cons: Confusing ordering system

Feel good feed

The kind of food you can enjoy but know is good for you, some are a bit too healthy tasting. The hot daal and curry is the best!

Pros: affordable , large menu range

Wow !

What a fantastic vegan venue in a food court. We visited twice for lunch over a long weekend and tried four of the six set menus. Totally delicious and very healthy with a huge range of flavours. Adding drinks and desserts (vegan blueberry cheesecake in a jar !) really adds to the cost so be careful not to get carried away.
They have a customer loyalty program which is great for regulars.

Pros: Sooo good and healthy, Delicious and big choice, Customer loyalty program

Cons: Can get expensive if you don't have self-control

Good, clean, healthy food

I've been to Supercharger a couple times over the past few months or so.

Each time, I've tried something different, trying to mix up a bunch of different things I think will go well together. And whilst I do like the quality and healthfulness of the food, I'd rather just be given some set menus to choose from, as I find it really confusing to know how to mix it up myself.

I do really like your food, but please create some set menus to simplify it.

Cheers

Pros: Tasty, Healthy, Good value

Cons: Confusing

Heaps of different choices to satisfy any cravings. There is no better way to satisfy your hunger after a day in the city than going to Supercharger. I'd go there for dinner too if they were open at night.

Super Healthy! Super Value! Super Yummy!

Just like Supercharger in the CBD except you won't have to share a table with someone eating non-veeg food. It's so amazing and such good value. I love everything on the menu. Holy Cacao, I keep having dreams about that raw caramel slice. Aloi Maak!!

Pros: Healthy, A lot of dishes for the one low price, ALL VEGAN!!!!!!

I really liked to eat there as the food is very healthy and yummy. The best thing I ordered was definitely the dahl.
The price is reasonable, but I expected the portions to be a little bit bigger

Pros: good prices, no salt, low in fat

Cons: small portion

Excellent vegan food

One would not normally associate quality vegan food with a food court... Supercharger is the exception. Located in the upmarket Emporium shopping complex, Supercharger provides a build your own vegan experience. The food is tasty and there is an excellent selection of raw, simmers, proteins and sauces. They will also cater for special needs such as salads without sauces.
The food is impressive and you can comfortably take non-vegans there (particularly since they can choose food from another outlet if they are desperate).
For city dining it represents reasonable value for money particularly since the food is made fresh.
One nice touch is that they use compostible bio-cutlery for take-away.
Drinks and sweets are a bit on the pricey side, but then again I suspect their rent is not cheap either.

Pros: Fresh and tasty, Accessible, Wide variety

Cons: Drinks and sweets pricey, Food court can be noisy/smelly

Best $14.50 I've spent!

Great taste AND value for money. REAL food at a mall food court- how refreshing!

Staff (Bella) were really helpful as a first timer and ran through their menu and options for me.

Such a pain of a location- in a city mall, but the staff just advised me a new Prahran location has opened today! I'll be back for sure!

Pros: value for money, helpful staff, meal sizes (big!),

Cons: location.

Charged with cha cha cha

Fresh, tasty and something a little different, Supercharger is a food court vendor with a difference.

The challenge lies in getting the flavour combos right (you pick them yourself) unless you go for the set menu options.

Worth a few visits to explore all the variations.

Pros: Super fresh, Tasty

Choose exactly what you want to eat!

I love these kinds of places where you can totally customise your entire meal, and get to choose from such a wide variety of interesting, clean, yum, vegan options. I went with a friend, we both chose our own base, toppings soup etc, she and I have quite different tastes, and appetites so ended up with quite different meals- which we both commented was an awesome perk of this place, as vegan eating in the city can sometimes be limiting choice wise.
I had the quinoa base, some smash, a miso, spinach, and some kind of veges. This is exactly the type of meal I love to eat for lunch, lots of variety, and lots of benefits! And filling. I work in the city, so for me it's a pretty convinient refreshing lunch option when I don't have time to take my own. Prices are very reasonable, and the wait is short. I liked it!

Pros: Customise your lunch!, Healthy, clean and yum., Good price. Quick service.

Cons: Eating lunch in a noisy food court.

Yes!

This was easily the best food court meal I have ever had. The choose your own menu was a little daunting so we just went with the set options, and were not disappointed. Everything was tasty and fresh with interesting flavours, Mushrooms in Ginger broth was a favourite, as was the Tempeh in Tamari. All pretty good value, $13.50 each gets you a good sized meal. We loved it.

Pros: Healthy, quick, all vegan

Cons: very busy location
