a few vegan options

We have been in Solvang for just a few hours, and we tried three different restaurants to see if they had vegan options, and succulent Cafe was the only one that actually had vegan options on their menu. We tried there beet salad and there Farmers Market focus, and they were both absolutely delicious!

Only one vegan option

I arrived during lunch hour and was told the only vegan option was the Vegan Beyond Burger and that they don’t do anything else. This was really discouraging since their website claims they can also make vegan versions of their other dishes.

I’m still thankful for the option, but it’s nothing special, considering that you can get a vegan burger anywhere these days. The only selling point for me was the homemade tomato jam which I ordered to eat with the fries.

Pros: Delicious fries and tomato jam, Friendly staff and waiters, Great location

Cons: Pricy, Long wait, Only one vegan option

Adorable and inviting place

Vegan options is vegan chili. May be filled with faux food like the burger they have. Healthy options null.

Tasty chili

My family and I loved the town of Solvang for all its charm and Christmas feel but finding a restaurant with vegan options was a total challenge. We stumbled upon Succulent and finally found a menu with a couple choices ( chili and beyond burger). My daughter and son and I tried both and really liked both entrees. It's good to know when we return for a visit, we can come here!

Basically the only vegan option

If you want a good Beyond Burger it's worth it. I didn't try the chili.. But someone said it's good. There is only two vegan options. I'm on a certain diet where I can't have the burger so I opted for a side salad and added avocado. The salad ended up being the same price as my bfs burger and fries. You get 50 cents worth of avocado, and a 1.50 worth of lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Side salads shouldn't be more than 7 bucks. Definitely not worth 9 dollars and the 3.00 up charge for avocado. Just go to the store and get yourself a bag of lettuce. It will be cheaper.

Pros: Two vegan options

Cons: Overpriced

Salad so so

This place is full of meat - somewhat disturbing. There are, however, two vegan options - a vegan sandwich and a vegan salad. Since I’m trying not to eat white flour (and they don’t have wheat bread) I opted for the salad. It was ok but tasted like something I could easily make myself - not worth the almost $15 I spent.

Pros: Nice eating area

Cons: Lots of meat products being promoted

A Small Respite in a a Historic Town

Time stands still in the idyllic wine-stained hills of California's Santa Ynez Valley. And while this makes for a lovely vacation, the mentality of restaurant kitchens remains held in the past as well. Which is to say, the vegan options in this town suck.

As horrified as I am by the main focus of Succulent Cafe, they get my strong recommendation for:

A) Having a vegan symbol on the menu.

B) Actually created thoughtfully crafted vegan dishes.

My vegan chili with walnuts and avocado was complex and filling. This was the only restaurant in Solvang that didn't leave me sad and hungry when dining out with my omni fiends.

Pros: vegan marked menu
