This place was recommended by a girl working in a cocktail bar, we were lucky enough to get a cancellation ! Wow the food didn’t disappoint! Better than any of the top restaurants Ive visited in Edinburgh. The dessert Bischoff cheesecake was amazing !

Amazing food - Edit
I've been here a couple times over the past few weeks and the food has been spectacular every time. The seitan is incredible - I normally wouldn't just have seitan for a main but you get a lot and it's very filling and delicious. Best cheesecake I've ever eaten, especially the Biscoff cheesecake. The space is a bit wee (slightly bigger than their sister restaurant, Nova Pizza), so you'll definitely want to make reservations. Probably the best restaurant in Edinburgh. Highly, highly recommended.

Beautiful, authentic Italian food 💚 - Edit
We were excited to find a vegan Italian restaurant and Sora Lella did not disappoint. Everything we had was absolutely delicious - beautiful food, clearly made with love. Generous portions and reasonable prices. A wide selection of wines, beers and drinks. Friendly staff. Small place with a cosy atmosphere (I recommend booking).

Nice food, good service - Edit
Original review Jan 2020: It was lovely to find out there is a new vegan restaurant in Edinburgh and so we came here for dinner. The food was very nice although the garlic focaccia was a bit bland and there wasn’t as much cheese on the meat feast pizza as I would have liked. The service was great and I would certainly come again if I needed a place to eat in this end of town. (4 stars)
Read moreUpdated review Aug 2021: We came back here for a birthday mea and were blown away by how good it was. The seitan is amazing (as are the pizzas) and the service continues to be exceptional. I’ve upgraded my review to 5 stars!

Believe the hype! - Edit
Sora Lella is a small intimate restaurant. Every time we visit we are amazed by how delicious it is! Most things on the menu can be made gluten free and we'd recommend the gnocchi and four cheese and mushroom white based pizza!

Not great - Edit
We went there with high hopes after reading all the positive reviews. Our starters of bruschetta were okay, but unfortunately the mains were not good. I had the spaghetti carbonara, and while it was good at first, after a few bites the sheer amount of SALT was just too much. I ate what I could but did not even finish half. My boyfriend had a pizza and he said it wasn't great, the crust was soft and wet and the cheese was average. Overall not impressed.

Mama Mia! - Edit
Great little vegan place tucked away near the city centre. The restaurant is fairly small but in a cosy way, you don’t feel cramped inside. The staff were friendly and helpful, thought the food was delicious (my partner wasn’t too keen on the cheese but I really liked it), tonnes of choice including an entire gluten free menu and some good tunes on in the background (80s mostly).
Read moreI would say it was a tad expensive, a couple more slices in the bread basket would be good for the price as an example. It also took a little long for the food to come but these are very minor issues. I’d give it 4.5 out of 5 (but I can’t so I’ll round it up to 5).
Would return without a doubt.
Pros: Big gluten-free menu, Cosy , Good music
Cons: Little expensive , Took a bit long for food to arrive

Ok, a little disappointing - Edit
A little confused as to why this is got such good reviews? Not sure if we were unlucky on the day or if they've changed chefs? The foccacia was a thin pizza, the rice balls tasted of nothing. The pasta dishes were way too heavy and creamy. The tiramisu was terrible. We we're really looking forward to this but it really wasn't there. Unfortunately we've had much better vegan Italian food in non vegan italian restaurants. I think there are way to many options for such a small restaurant, better to focus on a few really good dishes..

Lovely vegan italian food - Edit
Lovely fully vegan place in centre of Edinburgh, so much choice we struggled to choose! We opted for a gnocchi dish and a pizza to share, both yum. We ordered a white choc and raspberry, and biscoff cheesecakes to share and both were to die for, especially the biscoff one! We'll be back to try more of the menu again!

Good gnocchi, disappointing pizza - Edit
Gnocchi had a lovely consistency and a nice sauce.
Read moreReally lovely staff.
Sadly both time I've tried the pizza I've been really disappointed. Really don't like the soy cheese on the pizzas, it goes solid and chewy when it starts to cool and the marinara pizza had a very bland sauce with ferocious blobs of garlic. I hate to leave an unenthusiastic review for a vegan restaurant, would maybe try again in the future.
Pros: Staff were lovely
Cons: Soy cheese, Bland marinara sauce
