Good quality food

Excellent range of products, and the menu was so huge is was hard to know what to choose!!

The wait for my sandwich was a little long, and because someone else had my name they mixed up the orders and she almost left with mine. Nonetheless, the sandwich was delicious.

Pros: Great sandwiches, large range of products

Cons: Long wait, service was a little unorganised

Incredible

As a vegan from Cairns where dining options are very limited, I was in complete heaven! My sister and I had a sandwich each and tried a scroll and donut. Delicious!!

Sweet baby Jesus

I'm slowly but surely trying to eat my way through the entire menu. Everything I've eaten so far has been awesome. Thank god I don't live too close to this place or I would be eternally poor.

Pros: Literally everything

Cons: None

So epic!

Smith & Deli is without a doubt one of my favourite vegan places in the world! Their sandwiches are amazing and I love everything they're selling in the store but the best thing about it is the service. I have a very weird allergy and rather than the usual weird looks and eye rolling the people working at S&D were more than happy to check the ingredients of every single component of the multiple sandwiches I wanted to order and make helpful switches when I was allergic to something. They made me feel like a regular customer rather than a nuisance and I really appreciated it.

My favourite sandwiches from the menu were the Free Willy 2, the Eggs-Orcist, and the Nobody Calls Me Chicken Salad and I would have ordered the Egg McMartinez over and over again if I'd made it there early enough in the day!

I'd also recommend picking up some Seed & Bean Sicilian Hazelnut chocolate and some peanut butter filled pretzels whilst you're there!

Treat yo-self

This place is neatly located and super accessible making it perfect for a lunch pit stop (especially those at ACU) if this was a cafe with chairs I don't think I'd ever leave. The food is standard and makes you feel like you never have to miss out on anything being vegan!

The Wiggum

Oh my God get the wiggum! It's the best sandwich I've ever eaten in my life. The coffee is perfect and the chocolate and boysenberry croissants they had were divine.

This isn't an eat in kind of place so expect to just grab your food and go. There are lots of other treats to take away as well so have a look at the groceries section. You'll find some treats there for sure.

Pros: Tons of options, incredibly friendly staff, delicious food

Cons: Gets crazy busy, sells out of the egg McMartinez fast (so be quick)

I can confirm vegan heaven exists

I am in love with this place. I honestly wish I could eat here every day.

Freshly made sandwiches, cakes and pastries, inventive flavours and combinations, gorgeous pies and regular specials (that sell out fast!). Delicious hot chocolate (I tried the hazelnut special - it was like a liquid fererro rocher topped with vegan marshmallows!).

The groceries on offer are pretty extensive too; harder to find vegan goodies such as black salt, soy cream and condensed milk, loads of vegan meats, ice creams and cheeses, and of course chocolate (all of which I found to be significantly cheaper than the cruelty free shop - e.g. 150g Vego bars are $7.50 at S&D, but $8.40 at the CFS). Deli and vegan Grocer? Best concept ever.

The service is also super friendly. Vegan vibes all round!

Pros: vegan deli heaven , vegan grocery heaven

VEGAN HEAVEN

The people who have rated Smith & Deli less than 5 stars are honestly bonkers. This places is everything you could wish for, the biggest selection of deli style made to order sandwiches! The menu is honestly massive and they have daily specials also. Everything down to the type of bread they use is tasty and fresh and heaven! I highly reccomend the Maury Ballstein, its a take on a meat ball sub and the pesto is so so good. The cakes are out of this world too, especially their hand pies. And the selection of stock they sell is awesme too. I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Pros: EVERYTHING

Cons: Usually a que out the door! It is that good!

Smith and Deli is making me poor

I wish this were a joke but I am OBSESSED with smith and deli. Almost everything I have ever bought from here is amazing. The menu changes frequently, customer service is great and most importantly the food is to die for. This is the place to take meat eaters if you want to convince them that vegan food kicks ass.
Also the prices for vegan groceries are much cheaper than other similar places.

Pros: Everything is freaking delicious

The Earls of Sandwiches

Though a little heavy on the mock meat, Smith and Deli are filling a gap and providing much needed tasty deli-style sandwiches to the Vegan masses. The cakes and slices are also in a class of their own, albeit pricey. Expect to spend some serious cash when you clap eyes on the various cakes, slices and pastries you may have longed for since saying farewell to their less than kind counterparts.

On a recent visit, I noticed the distinct lack of shelf and fridge price labels. When it was queried with a staff member, I was told they don't have time as stock changes so frequently. Aside from a couple of new cheeses, I don't believe much as changed since they first opened their doors. It is disappointing that this extremely popular establishment cannot make the effort with something so simple.

Pros: Generally high quality food

Cons: Too many mock meat options, Lack of shelf labelling

Best chocolate brownie EVER!

Popped in here to see what all the fuss is about and were definitely not disappointed! We purchased a few non-perishable items to take back to QLD and a chocolate brownie which was better than any brownie I have ever eaten (vegan or not)!.
Would very much recommend this place, if we lived in Melbourne, we would definitely be regulars here ?

Popular vegan deli

Smith and Deli was busy today and after having my doughnut and fruit mince pie I can see why! They were very tasty! The only thing that would make me a less frequent visitor is that it's takeaway only... I'd like the option of eating in, but I guess there'd not enough space and I have the option of eating in at Smith and Daughters...

small but perfectly formed

Can be quite busy, but they've excellently recreated a New York style grab and go sandwich bar. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere good. They have a small but diverse selection of groceries including some hard to find items like the non-dairy Ben and Jerry's!

Pros: good food, hard to find groceries, lots of choice

Cons: can get very crowded, nowhere to sit

My mouth still craves!

What a sandwich! BLT with avocado. My plan was to eat half then and half when I got back to where I was staying. The half sandwich had other plans. It sang to my mouth at every traffic light. Soon it was reunited

Such is the overpowering deliciousness of Smith and Deli.

The best

Heaps of options, all good so far. They also have a heap of vegan groceries I haven't been able to find anywhere else. Get the So Delicious Cashew Ice Cream! There's nowhere to sit, most people turn left and go up to the park to eat.

Pros: atmosphere , food , heaps of options

Cons: bit of a wait sonetimes, prices can be a bit high (but worth it)

A life-saver!

I happily drive over half an hour to buy from here. I only wish they stocked more ingredients like creams and cheeses to take home and use.
