Groceries and delicious sandwiches - Edit
Impressive selection of food to buy – packaged, jarred, canned, chilled, frozen, including Just Mayo and Gardein frozen foods (try Gardein's crabless cakes!). From the sandwich menu I ordered the “Home Alone” roll, an open-face sandwich that tastes just like a turkey dinner. Fantastic! So delicious! $16.

I love smith and deli!! Not only the food, but ALL the staff are consistently so lovely. You’ll regularly see one of the co-owners Mo making sandwiches and taking orders. That’s cred. Sandwiches are so delicious and they’re always so creative with their food.

Vegan Delitopia - Edit
Wow if you're a vegan craving a good hearty sandwich then you've come to the right place! There's so many different options that it takes you 5 minutes to read through the menu and then you haven't even seen the sweet treats and daily offers yet! It's also wonderful to see that it is so popular and even though there was a big queue the wait wasn't too long. Ordered the meatball sandwich and was just a bit disappointed with the flavour... I just expected heartier flavours but hey, that's just my taste and I'll deffo be back for their dessert options!
Read morePros: So many different options, has salads and pizzas and pies too, good service
Cons: quite pricey for what it is , meatball sub lacked a bit of flavour

Worth the Wait! - Edit
With a line out the door and halfway down the street, I was really hoping this Deli would meet my expectations. And meet them it did! I had the meatball sub and my husband had the club sandwich which were both tasty and super fresh. For an establishment that is so busy, they really do have a pretty good system in place. Someone took our order while we were still waiting in line and it was correctly documented by the time we got to pay. Order was ready shortly after. Also sampled the doughnuts which were an amazing treat! Will definitely go again.

Amazing - Edit
Everything I have bought here is amazing! The frappes are delicious (check to see their specials as they are amazing), pies & sausage rolls filling, sandwiches and rolls are the best I have had and the sweets are always so beautiful! Lines can get long on Saturdays so get there early to not miss out. Also not the cheapest however it is well worth the prices.

It was our first stop on our first day of our 2017 honeymoon and we never looked back.
Read moreWe had a Little Havana sandwich each and I had a brownie as well. The sandwiches were rich and tasted super fresh while the brownie was pretty much perfect in taste and consistency.
We came back for seconds a few days later only to find it closed - we had read the opening times wrong.
Next time!
Pros: Delicious food, friendly staff, all-vegan, well-sorted shop area, love the interior style

A great place for vegan food takeouts! There are great variety of sandwiches, pastries etc to choose from. Many vegan products to choose from, you can even get their very own designed S&D t shirts!! It's located in a back alley of Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. An awesome place!

LOVE THIS PLACE - Edit
Smith and deli never fails to disappoint me. There is a huge range of sandwich options as well as salads, pies, sweet treats etc. There is really something for everyone as well as a huge range of often hard to find elsewhere vegan grocery items. It can be a little cramped inside waiting so make sure to look as the lines on the floor when queuing.

Vegan Deli - Edit
We queued up for roughly half an hour to be served here- so don't go if you're in a hurry as everytime we go past the queue is way out the door!
Read moreLarge sandwich menu and liked the sound of lots of them, so I bought two (and a pie) so I had some the next day to make it worth the effort of going.
Really liked the foghorn legless and parmageddon and the pie was really great (cauliflower/broccoli cheese).
I wouldn't say the sandwiches were 'out of this world' but they were good and I'm pleased I went, but for the price and options nearby I won't go back as I want to make sure I try everything else in the area!
Can definitely see why it's so popular though, if I lived/worked nearby I'd definitely be a regular!
Pros: amazing choice, all vegan
Cons: pricey for a sandwich

fully vegan sandwich bar!! gf options - Edit
This is like a vegans dream, they sell vegan groceries as well, and baked treats and then it's a fully vegan sandwich bar! They have so so many different sandwiches, I don't think I'll even have the money to get through a third of it!

Delectable! - Edit
Hidden away on the back alleys of Fitzroy, this little takeaway and deli does not disappoint. Delicious toasted sandwiches with a range of fillings from fake meats and nut cheeses to pesto and salad... just what the doctor ordered on a grey and gloomy Fri morning! So many vegan groceries too, squished into a tiny space with style. Friendly and welcoming staff with big smiles and can do attitudes...love this place...bring it to Sydney!

Vegan Heaven - Edit
I go here almost weekly and it NEVER disappoints. Haven't tried all their sandwiches yet, but my favourites are the Club Sandwiches Not Seals and the Foghorn Legless, and on days when they have the cardamom donuts, you'd be mad not to grab one. It's not cheap and there's usually a line, but that is to be expected and it's honestly worth it
Read morePros: Great selection of food and deli items, There's normally dogs there, The staff are angels
Cons: Not cheap (but worth it), It does get very busy around lunch time.

A must do at least once - Edit
The food is amazing (especially the cabinet deli food - salads, prawns, pulled chicken, etc.) and there is a wide range of vegan grocery items to buy, but I do find the sandwiches to be a bit expensive for what you get. S&D is definitely an experience you need to try at least once, but make sure you go early in the morning around 11 because after that the line is out the door all day.
Read morePros: Great take-home deli food, wide range
Cons: Sandwiches can be expensive for what you get, very busy at lunch/in the afternoon

Nice food, sadly no seating, a little expensive - Edit
I've been here a few times and purchased cheeses, pastries, sandwiches, etc.
Read moreMy favourite was the pastrami sandwich, my least favourite was a cinnamon donut which was pretty basic and overpriced.
I have to drive a long way to get there and I absolutely hate that there are no tables and chairs. If you go there to buy lunch you have to take it and eat it in your car or in the park. At the park the bins were overflowing with S&D packaging.
Everything is quite expensive and while some of the menu items are worth it because they're amazing, some of it is pretty ordinary and the prices aren't justified.
I do really like the sandwiches but, considering everything is pretty overpriced and I have to go into the streets to eat it like a pigeon, it's definitely not my favourite place to go. It's one of those places I just stop by if I'm nearby.
Pros: Sandwiches are pretty nice, Variety of unique foods, Staff are nice
Cons: No tables and chairs, A bit expensive, Long queues
