Really good vegetarian option

You can create your own noodle soup, choose which ingredients you like and if you want it spicy or not. I really enjoyed it.

Pros: A lot of tofu options

Cons: I had to ask which was tofu and which fish cake

A lot of soy products and mushrooms

Interesting concept: you can place ingredients from the salad bar to the bowl, pay for the weight, and then the cook will make you a soup out of it.
There are several different tofu, several mushrooms, soy sprouts, noodles, and some other veggies.
You can choose the spiciness of the broth and add some seasoning after it is cooked.

Pros: Many options , Highly customisable food

Cons: A bit hard to understand what to do

Fun spot!

I enjoyed this place. The vibe is very fast-casual, but I loved the business model. Basically you choose a bunch of vegetables, tofu, noodles or tteok, herbs, etc from a big salad bar and bring them to the counter where they are weighed for you. Then you choose your broth and level of spice (on a 4-point scale). Probably because I am white, the worker immediately asked via translation app if we were vegetarian and confirmed they could use a vegetarian broth. There were several styles of tofu and tofu skin, about six types of mushrooms, dozens of noodles or rice cakes (careful though, one is stuffed with cheese so ask for help), and other options for making your own soup. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach, so go light as you make your bowl. They give a LOT of broth.

The broth itself is fairly bland but it’s easy to improve using the condiments bar. I asked for a level 3 spice and was warned it would be very hot; I said it was ok but when I checked my receipt they had actually only done a level 2! 🤪😂 It was decently spicy but not crazy spicy. I enjoyed the level 2 but it wasn’t super hot… I get that a lot of westerners aren’t always used to the true spice level of a country they’ve traveled to, so I understand their caution. Fortunately, the condiment bar has extra chili oil so ordering it more mild and adjusting up is not a bad idea if you want to be careful.

The condiment bar also has pulverized garlic, chopped scallions, and sesame paste that helped give the soup more complexity. Once I added the condiments it was really flavorful and I had a blast eating it. I could imagine going back and trying different ingredient or flavor combos. This time I mostly focused on all the gorgeous mushrooms.

An important note though: Happy Cow’s embedded map shows the wrong location (I’ll try to update it if I can figure out how), and exporting to Google Maps couldn’t find it. I figured it out by using a different transliteration in Google Maps and confirming against KakaoMap. Search “Xinlongfu Maratang Seogwipo Branch 제주섬신룽푸마라탕 서귀포점” instead to get the correct location if you don’t know the area well without a map. It is on the second floor above the Jeju Beer Fountain Main Branch, across from a CU. You could also search the Beer Fountain address to make sure you find the right spot.

Overall a great and fun experience! And the Beer Fountain is cute for a drink before or after you meal, too!

Yummyyy

Love this! Pick your ingredients, level of spiciness and they cook it for you! I asked for no spicy and it was very good and flavourful. Love all the tofu options, different mushrooms and veggies! Great options for everyone and the staff have a good understanding of what vegan means

Good option

The store is not easy to find. It's on the second floor across from a CU. The store's name is written in Korean.

The menu does not mention that they have a vegan broth. It only mentions bone broth. So I asked them multiple times if they have vegan broth and they assured me they can use a broth made with vegetables.

The hot pot itself was delicious. They took the ingredients I gave them, separated them and cooked a nice soup. They had condiments you can add to the soup once it's prepared.

Pros: Highly customizable hot pot, Delicious

Cons: Hard to find the store, if you can't read Korean

Went here everyday

Not many options for vegan food at night here, but this place saved me every time. The worker was really friendly and asked me if I was vegetarian. The are unable to do the dry stir fry vegan, only the soup. Plenty of vegetables and such to choose from. The happy cow coordinates are not right.
This is the address for the CU right across the street from this place.

Yummy😄

I like all the veggies and mushrooms, tofu types, and different noodles. The soup is slightly watery but still good. I got a level 2 spicy and it was perfect. I do like spicy ness back home but not when my mouth is on fire. The staff immediately asked us if we were vegetarian when we walked in. They were familiar with the term ‘vegan’. There’s plenty of seating as well.

The location is not quite correct on HappyCow. It helps if you can copy and paste the title of the restaurant and paste into Google maps. If you can’t copy the name from HappyCow, screenshot it and copy it from your Photos app if you have an iPhone

yummie but spicy

It's a chinese buffet style soup restaurant where you choose your favourite ingredients. The price depends on the weight. The staff was very helpful and tried to explain the procedure in Korean and Japanese (and English translator).

Pros: You can choose your own ingredients., A big variety of noodles, vegetables and mushrooms, You can choose to level spicyness

Cons: Not so easy to find , The soup is more or less always the same , (very spicy)
