Best slow-food made with ❤️ - Edit
What a lovely experience! We were here two nights in a row ... had to wait quite a while for the food - but WOW it was worth it! Super well prepared and tasty food cooked with love and lots of flavor! We had green salad, vegetable (pumpkin) soup and Lentil Tagine, Long Vegetable Tagine, Harira soup and a lovely filo pastry dish ... with complimentary beet/orange juice and all senses satisfied. Expect to sit for a while, as she makes everything from scratch, but bring a good companion or a book and I promise it will be worth it!

Best, and cheapest, veggie place in town. - Edit
We tried all veggie places in Essaouira. This was, by far, the best of all of them. That is not to say it was great, because none of them are particularly great, but this one at least had the best food.......and it was, by far, the cheapest.
Read moreThe woman who runs this place only speaks Arabic and French, but is a beautiful gentle soul with a shy smile always on her face...... unlike the vegan place (Darjeeling), right beside her, where the owner is a bit rude. She makes everything herself right there. Something I love to see and support. I'd definitely recommend making those six or seven more steps to.the right to this more hidden place to get the best, and cheapest, vegan meal in town. It is also in a great location, on a small square near the main street. And despite arriving quite late, she still politely served us without hurrying it's on. Lovely woman.
For us, it was one of the best vegan meals we had in our month stay in Morocco, only perhaps beaten by one in Casablanca. The falafels are some of the best that I've ever had and the juices were a good size.
I love to support these individually-run places, especially for such a nice woman who does everything herself.
Would highly recommend if in the location.
Pros: Best vegan food in town , Best prices in town , Run by lovely woman
Cons: More spice to soup

Not much flavor or taste - Edit
I visited this place twice in Essoauira, and judging by the reviews and pictures it seems the head chef must have been away on my visit. I speak a little French so it wasn't a problem ordering what I wanted from the lady in charge. The Lentil tagine was ok, but nothing out of this world. The vegetable cous cous was very simple, bland and had little taste or flavor. The Chickpea tangine was pretty much the same. I liked the juices, but the ginger & beetroot juice is just that and nothing added to make it sweeter.

Calm & sincere vegan place in the heart of the Medina - Edit
We went there while visiting Essaouira in November 2017 with my sis. The owner is the cook himself, he is a very friendly and caretaking person. He offers all sorts of moroccan traditional meals, from Tagines, couscous, to salads and fresh juices... We arrived there in the evening, while searching for a place with Wifi (which is, by the way, available and pretty stable) I went for a menu for fifty dirhams only, containing a fresh beetroot juice and a chickpeas tajine. The served meals were generous and well flavoured. We highly recommend

Charming host! - Edit
This place is something! Even though the menu of Le corail, which is basically right next to it, is much longer, we ended up here because it has such a nice charm to it and we didn't regret it! As other reviews stated already, everything's made from scratch, in our case the owner/cook/waiter - all in one - even sent someone to get some of the ingredients fresh from the souq. I loved that but if you're really short on time you should consider this. We had the lentil tajine and the tajine with green beans and prunes (it's around 40dh for the mains) and out of the two I would definitely recommend the second - finally something different than the usual vegetable tajine. Also I really enjoyed the beetroot juice, if you get the chance to try it, you should!

Dont expect much - Edit
Was so happy to find an all vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Essaouira, so we didnt mind the long wait for our food to be ready. But when food came it was a big disappointment:(.. Too dull, no spices and almost no taste.. I would still recommend this place for sure, nice and cosy, lovely owner/server/chef but do not expect much from the food, pretty much average

This is a small business that delivers a big punch. Great veggie food. Great drinks. The avocado juice is outstanding. And the owner - running a one-man show - is incredibly hospitable.

Scrummy Tagine - Edit
We were only in Essaouira overnight but we managed to eat here twice.
Read moreThe restaurant has a really laid back atmosphere as everything is cooked fresh from scratch so you have to sit back and relax.
The Prune and Green Bean Tagine is such a lovely crunchy change from the usual veggie tagines but make sure you mix the caramellised onions from the bottom with the rest of the dish to really bring out the flavour.
The Vegetable Cous-Cous is a huge portion of food with the lightest fluffiest cous-cous you can imagine.
The fresh apple juice is a meal in itself.
If you are in Essaouira make sure you search this place out, you will not be disappointed.

Loved the tajine :) - Edit
This is a lovely cosy restaurant off the main street on a nice quiet square. We liked it so much that we ate there twice on our short trip to Essaouira. The place is run just by one man, but he is really friendly, prepares the food from scratch from very fresh ingredients and the tajines we had were the best in Morocco!
Read moreThe portions are huge - > go for menu of the day - and you will not be disappointed.
We sat outside and enjoyed in sun (in January 2014) and it was nice to relax in a quite place in the madness of Morocco :)
The food was also very very cheap and we even liked the toilets there :)

Best tajines in Morocco! - Edit
This tiny restaurant serves Moroccan vegetarian food, offering many different variations that are usually not available in regular restaurants. To start, we ordered the harira soup, which was good, although it could have used a bit more spice/salt to round of the flavour. We ordered two tajines as entrees, one with green beans and prunes and the other chickpeas. The first few bites of the tajines seemed a bit bland, however the bottom layers were spiced perfectly, making these two of the best tasting tajines we've had in a month travelling through Morocco!

good veggie Moroccan food - Edit
We didn't have high expectations going here since the food we'd had up to that point on our trip has been very unimaginative and bland. This place was different though as there was plenty to chose from for veggies and vegans alike.
Read moreThere was the usual veggie tajine and couscous dishes, but with a variety of ingredients and flavours including tajines with beans and lentils, which is not so common in our experience. All the food was freshly prepared in the small kitchen by the friendly owner who was happy to hear that we found him on HappyCow.
If you're in town, I'd say this is your best bet for Moroccan veggie food
Pros: friendly owner , freshly prepared, interesting variety

I struggled not to cry... - Edit
The place is a sympathetic one man business, but despite the fresh ingredients and an hour long waiting, the food was absolutely tasteless. Moroccan cuisine in general is nothing for spice lovers, but usually the food is edible with some milder tastes. This one was just horrible. Unless you really really love the taste of over cooked carrots and plain couscous, I strongly recommend anything else but this.

Really, really lovely! - Edit
We ate at several nice places in Essaouira and Marrakech, which did decent vegan food, but this was definitely our favourite. We were told that it was 'all fresh' and it definitely was! From the fresh veg and fruit smoothies to the tagines, it all seemed to be made there & then (we even saw the owner bringing veggies back from the market, then cooking them straight away for our food).
Read moreI had a tagine with preserved lemon and olives and it was delicious, we also kept getting brought lovely local bread to go with it (whenever we finished we were given more for free). It was also very relaxed - we sat there a long time each visit, and didn't feel hurried along at all. The food took a little while, as it was all cooked from scratch, but it was definitely worth it. Highly recommended if you want a fresh and tasty meal.
Pros: fresh, delicious, friendly, un-pushy staff
Cons: takes a little while (but worth it!)

Simple but nice - Edit
We found this restaurant easily, it's colourful and our waiter was friendly.
Read moreI had the daily special for 50DM, which consisted of a tomato salad starter and a choice of either vegetable cous cous or tagine for a main. I chose the cous cous. The portion was large with chunky vegetables but not much flavour.

Cons: food lacked flavour

Best vegan food in Morocco - Edit
After several weeks of tagine and couscous of varying standards but often with the same ingredients this place offers a pleasant change. A wide range of vegan tagines, couscous and salads using fresh and varied ingredients all prepared in the small kitchen directly in front of you. Expect to wait a while for you meal as this is a one man show and the food is all prepared upon order. However, the restaurant is set in a quiet, sunny courtyard so we had no problem with the wait and the food was definitely worth waiting for.
