Great place for a sushi date - Edit
This is one of my wife's favorite date locations. The food is great and there are many options.
Read moreBe prepared to make a reservation or wait a long time. Parking can also be very difficult. Also it is fairly expensive.

By far the best vegan sushi I ever had as well as outstanding good service. My personal favorite vegan restaurant in San Francisco, be sure to reserve a table because it is very popular.

Great Sushi, special all vegan place - Edit
Very rare to get a place such as this serving (reasonably) authentic and very high quality sushi. Loved the miso soup and tofu katsu. Would love to come here every week!

Everything is so good - Edit
Loved this place! Probably our favorite meal so far in San Francisco. We tried the gyoza (best vegan gyoza I’ve ever had), a few of their nigiris (tomato, mango, eggplant and asparagus), and some special rolls. My favorites were the gyoza and green pickled mango nigiri. My partner loved the candlestick the best but the boddy and soul and secret weapon were also good. Our only complaint was we wish the spicy rolls were spicier.

We will be back! - Edit
An incredibly intimate and delicious experience. We had 2 noodle bowls and a deluxe sushi with beer. It was all such a nice experience. Btw- if you are a pair you can do a walk-in at their bar instead of making a reservation!

Ceviche to start, lots of sushi, rolls and all made with such incredible artisan attention and ingredients. If you want a disco of vegan sushi in your mouth, put on some flares and sachet to Shizen soonest.

Incredible vegan sushi experience! - Edit
Had the Miso soup & the 2 soju cocktails as starters. The soup was great. The soju litchi sangria was lightly sweet & the warm soju was divine!
Read moreThis was followed by specialty rolls - Open Invitation, Hidden Agenda, and Prime Suspect. Every single bite of every single roll was full of texture and flavors. One would not know that it was all veggies and no meat! What an amazing experience. I would most certainly come back here, and definitely on an empty stomach.

Top 5 vegan restaurants in SF - Edit
I find myself coming back again and again. I would categorize this as a vegan izakaya since they serve a smattering of various menu options: karaage, katsu, gyoza, ramen, yakisoba, and sushi, to name a few. Everything I've ordered is delicious, and my latest favorite special roll is the Proud Peacock. The Surprise Ending is always fun. And all the non-vegans I bring with me keep asking me when we're going back.

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had - Edit
My partner and I had luck on our side because we were able to walk in to a open two top. The people next to us tried to book a reservation for three months before they landed a table. But soooo worth it!! I will definitely be booking a reservation next time I’m headed to SF. The staff is amazing and the food is insane. Serious culinary artistry. Can’t want to go back!!

We loved it so much we came back twice in the four days we were in San Fran. Absolutely gorgeous food in a love environment. Everything is fresh, tasty and well-seasoned. I don’t think I could even pick a favourite dish, every one was a winner!

Best sushi in the city! - Edit
I always bring non-vegans to this restaurant to impress them. Flavors are fantastic! I HIGHLY recommend getting the kaarage, it’s my favorite thing other than the specialty rolls! Make your reservation in advance. Decent street parking available, also a parking lot nearby for $20.

Delicious! - Edit
I had high hopes for our dinner here and it certainly didn't disappoint. We picked eight dishes out of the huge menu and enjoyed every single one of them. Those mushroom-based ones were our faves. The specialty rolls are really where it's at. They're beautifully presented and the flavor combinations are complex and innovative. If you feel like something different, I'd recommend the spicy garlic miso ramen. Now they just need to work on a dessert menu!

My fav vegan sushi place (ever) - Edit
We always make a point of visiting Shizen when we're in SF! I haven't found better vegan sushis yet -- and we've looked for it. Not all rolls are equally amazing, but everything's good. The cocktails are worth trying too :)

Yum!!!!! - Edit
The ramen was bursting with flavor! There was some mock meat in there and I'm not sure what it was supposed to be but wow, it was delish! Also, although the avocado nigiri was basic, it was still delicious (there was this beet sause on top), main con is lack of dining in options, reservations fill up 3-4 weeks in advance 😳

Unforgettable vegan sushi! - Edit
If you are in the Bay Area and you love sushi, this place should be on your list! They have so many nice sushi rolls, with many vegan sauces to go along with it! All of the sushi was nicely decorated, so you can tell the chef values having his dishes come out looking the best he can. If you like taking photos of your good, all the dishes are Instagramable.
