this little gem in the heart of Newcastle makes the best, authentic curry for a fraction of the cost of the likes of wagamama etc. it's super cute in here you can write little sticky notes for the wall 🍙💖

We had the vegan gyoza and the Tofu Katsu Yakisoba for takeaway. It was quite crowded but if you wait about 5-10 min, as your dish is being prepared you can easily find a spot to sit.

Really enjoyed the tofu katsu curry, which was so flavoursome and nicely spiced, with perfectly cooked tofu. Generous portion size too, making it great value for just £7.
Read moreService was also very quick despite it being busy and I'll definitely be returning again to sample more of the menu.

Busy fast food place with three vegan options available, all donburi (rice bowl). Tasty and very filling. It’s a shame they use takeaway packaging for eat in, including a plastic lid to walk two feet to a table and even a plastic bag for the same distance

I love shijo. There’s nothing better than a steaming hot bowl of curry this time of year - I’m obsessed with the pumpkin katsu, but on this visit I branched out and tried the tempura veg; Absolutely divine. The portions are generous and a snip at £6 a bowl.
