Best Tibetan in Mcleodganj

I went to Shangrila vegetarian restaurant twice whilst in Mcleodganj. Both times I was the only non-monk eating there, it felt like a local spot!

The first time I had the special thukpa removing the egg, this was very delicious and they understood vegan well.

Then I had the tofu fried rice which was the best dinner I had in Mcleodganj, so so flavourful and a big portion for a good price!

Big recommend to anyone wanting to try Tibetan food!

Pros: Tofu fried rice !!

Big portions and great food

This lovely place is run by some monks and have a great variety of vegan options, the staff is also very kind and can accommodate your requests. Highly recommend the special thukpas.

Change is possible

Proceeds go to Gyudmed Tantric University, one of the South Indian Tibetan monasteries that now have a vegetarian 'policy'. The food, of course, does service to the philosophy. Even though there are several egg dishes (including the 'special' versions of some), one sticker promotes 'Tibetan tofu' and veganism. What I tried was original, unlike the thukpas, etc., I had previously tasted, and low in salt for the surrounding Indian standards.
