Totally vegan with great GF options and satisfying for non-vegans - Edit
We had some family to visit in San Antonio, and we met up with them at @senorveggie which we felt had lots of great options (even for non-vegans). There are so many great gluten free options on their menu, I really had a hard time deciding. 🤔 Dan decided to start with some Texican Lentil Chili, and I tried a bite. It was so freaking good, I’m definitely getting some next time. He also ordered Pupusas Norteñas, which was tempeh chorizo, veggies, and cashew crema on corn masa. I also tried this and seriously, such great flavors. I think I’ll order those next time too 😆. Isabel was pleased with her Crispy Tofu Nuggets and fries, but didn’t finish it all because she wanted to save space for a cupcake dessert. 😉 Unfortunately for me, the cupcake was not gluten free. However, the tofu nuggets were so I could have finished those off. I got the Veggie Street Tacos, and the jackfruit carnitas were so amazing! Our non-vegan family thought they were cauliflower. I had them give them a try and they said they had a good flavor and a meaty texture. 🤗 We are super excited that we found Señor Veggie, and we’re looking forward to another visit next time we’re in town.
Read morePros: delicious food, decent prices, plenty of GF options
Cons: limited quantities (ran out of one menu item), we couldn't eat it all, cupcake wasn't GF

Best Tortilla Soup - Edit
This place is so good! It’s really filling, so don’t eat too much before going. The service is amazing and they are really nice. My mom and I had the queso, macaroni, chalupas, and the tortilla soup. It was all so good, and I can’t wait to come here again sometime. Definitely recommend the place.

Good food, nice staff - Edit
Had the carne asada and jackfruit tacos. Both good but the carne asada was much better. Staff was really busy yet still friendly. We were there in the early evening and saw they were running out of a number of menu items. Went back a second time and they had closed early. I would definitely go back though!

Tasty food, but with some caveats. - Edit
I liked their food, but I didn't like how the restaurant smelled like cleaner, there were some flies, and the appetizer and the entree came out at the same time.

Fresh and flavorful - Edit
The tortilla soup was rich but not too heavy with great flavors. The jackfruit carnitas tacos were amazing - the seasoning was just right and they weren’t overly greasy. The corn tortillas tasted like fresh, sweet corn. Sooo good.

Best Vegan Restaurant - Edit
Tex-Mex style and excellent flavor, without being “heavy”. Hands downs the best vegan restaurant. Glad we picked this place!

Some good options, some so-so - Edit
We spent a weekend at San Antonio recently and ate at 4 places on happy cow, one of which just had veggie options. Unfortunately one of the places we ate had to come in last place and it was this place. My wife enjoyed her dish (I tasted it and it was good) but I got a black bean, veggies, and tofu dish that tasted like something chili’s might serve (not a compliment in this case 😂).
Read moreThe location wasn’t particularly exciting, and neither was the restaurant decor. The service wasn’t terrible but also wasn’t particularly helpful. I might have just gotten a subpar dish, but even if it had been much better, some of the other aforementioned qualities of the place would have still kept it pretty low on my list of places with vegan food in SA.
Pros: All vegan
Cons: Staff not very helpful , Food was mediocre , Restaurant location, decor, and vibe was subpar

Awesome and Quick! - Edit
I came here for a quick lunch with a friend, and the service was perfect. Our orders came out quickly and while we waited for our food we shared the empanadas. We didn’t even finish the empanadas, which my friend ordered before I arrived and came to the table as I was arriving, before our food came out. The portions were huge and everything was well flavored. I will say that the coleslaw that came on top of my Tempeh Chalupas was a bit much as it wasn’t very flavorful and took away from the flavor or everything else.

Not impressed - Edit
The staff was friendly but I honestly Don’t know why this restaurant has such high reviews. They don’t come close to the quality and fresh flavor of the other vegan restaurants in town that have similar options. My food was extremely greasy and salty. I was unable able to eat it. I don’t think I’ll be visiting again.

Main dish was okay, but dessert was awesome! - Edit
I had the mac and cheese - and it really lacked taste. There was smoked capsicum spice all over the pasta, but besides that it didn’t really taste like much. Was a little disappointing for 12 dollars. Would have loved some more broccoli. The cup my water was served in, was really sticky, and the whole place could need some beautification. It’s really not cozy in there. Nonetheless the staff was really nice, and I had an absolutely amazing dessert - a lavender cupcake (added a photo), which was sooo delicious. Would definitely give it another try on my next trip.

Looks are deceiving - Edit
The food physically looked amazing however it lacks flavor. The beans literally taste like water and the tamales were mainly bean and cayenne no real flavor. My family tried the nachos, quesadillas, fried corn, and tamales and I wouldn’t go back for anything.... I wish I could give a half of star!

Walked in hungry, walked out absolutely full and extremely satisfied. Shared nachos and corn fritters to start which were delicious. Buffalo tofu hoagie and the enchiladas for the entrees. No room for dessert. Great food, great service. Worth the walk from the riverwalk.

Not great... - Edit
Not happy with the service. After asking what we'd like (came with girlfriend) we were constantly told that they didn't have what we asked for . When you finally get your food. You realize how unimpressive, cheap, and bland the food comes. As basic as it comes . The presentation isn't bad for the photos if you're into that. The atmosphere isn't bad either . After multiple visits I've decided to not come again.

A must-try when in San Antonio. - Edit
I have been to Senor Veggie several times. I make it a point to go any time I am in San Antonio. If I have time, I usually walk from my conference hotel in the Riverwalk area. It's also a short drive / Uber ride away. I have always had pleasant experiences.
Read moreI really like the casual atmosphere. I do not agree with the reviews that state the waitstaff are rude; however, I have had a few waiters there who were casual enough that someone used to more upscale places might mistake their behavior for rudeness. Or maybe I have just always gotten lucky with my servers; who knows. I have generally been by myself, and I felt fully comfortable dining alone at this place. The staff seem to know when to chat with you and when to let you stuff your face in peace.
I really enjoy the food; I have never tried anything I didn't like. The house salad dressing is SO GOOD, people. Give it a shot. I wanted to take a bottle home with me. I can also vouch for the delicious cupcakes and the more-than-delicious doughnuts. Take a peek in the dessert cabinet next time you're around; it just might improve your mood. ;P
Pros: Casual Atmosphere, Friendly Staff, Cupcakes and Doughnuts
