CLOSED: Sansheng - Three Saints

We tried Thur, Fri, and Sat 4-14-2012 but the place was all locked up. It doesn't appear closed forever, but who knows?

We were finding it difficult to find good vegan chinese food in lijiang so were determined to find this restaurant.

We took a 7 yuan taxi journey from the old town to get there. The taxi dropped us off at the hotel from which the restaurant is only a few minutes walk. Follow the directions given and you should find the place easily.

The taxi journey was definitely worth it as we felt really welcome as soon as we arrived there. We had a really friendly and english speaking waitress called Shelly who helped explain the whole menu to us - they do not have an english menu but this did not cause any problems.

We had the local tofu, river mushrooms and peppers dish which was gorgeous. The tofu had a great texture. The second dish we had was the spicy potato, aubergine and pepper dish. This was quite oily but really tasty and it was nice to have potatoes as we had not eaten them in weeks!

They also have other spicy and sour dishes, and sweet dishes on the menu.

i went here last week (mid January 2009), but it was closed that day presumably because of Spring Festival holiday. The place is still in operation. Go to the west end of the block containing the Lijiang International Hotel and you will come to a fiveways. Find the Police station diagonally opposite that corner on the fiveways, then walk down the street (also diagonally opposite the hotel corner) opposite side to the police station and the restaurant is a couple of shops along the way. There's a "vegetarian" sign, written vertically in English outside. I'm sorry to have missed out on their food!

Easy to find, very close to the police station, a block away from the Lijiang international hotel, says vegetarian on a sing.
Just came from there, the food was excellent, there's no English menu, but a lot of items have pictures, not all though, but more than enough, even though there is some mock meat, what I really liked is that this place didn't revolve around it like many other places I have been to in china, the vegetables were fresh and excellent, not to much oil was used in the food, and everything tasted great. All in all I am very happy with the place. Be warned though it's really a small place, I only saw 4 tables? with 2 outside. Maybe there's another room in the back.

GET A DECENT MAP, THERE ARE THREE RIVERS HERE. HEAD OUT OF TOWN TOWARD XIAN LU, WHEN YOU HIT THE THIRD RIVER, TURN LEFT AND WALK TWO HUNDRED YARDS. THERE IS NO SIGN IN ENGLISH, I FOUND THE PHONE NUMBER ON THE SIGN.
IT WAS WORTH IT, NO ENGLIGH MENU, NO ENGLISH SPEAKING STAFF. JUST POINT AT THE PICTURES AND ENJOY!!!!!
