Good Vegan Ice Cream Option - Edit
Salt & Straw have really come a long way in really franchising and popping up all around California. Just because they're a big local chain, doesn't mean that the ice cream isn't good because it simply rocks.
Read moreI hadn't frequented S&S in a while but upon finding out that they had vegan options available, I was down for the cause. I got a single scoop of their Strawberry & Coconut Water Sherbet, which was fantastically refreshing. It was a light, creamy ice cream that was rich in flavor. I also tried their Bug Juice flavor (also vegan) but it wasn't as creamy as the former.

There are a few good vegan options here. The ice cream base is very thick and creamy but some flavors are a bit too sweet for me. I also don’t love that they serve things like pigs blood, as it makes me less enthusiastic about supporting the business.

I always love going to Salt & Straw! It's great to know that there will always be at least three dairy-free options. My favorite flavor at the SF location is the mint chocolate chip but I've never had anything that I didn't like.

BEST VEGAN ICE CREAM EVER - Edit
They had loads if vegan flavours, I got to sample the 'Dandelion chocolate hazelnut cookies' and 'chai spiced eggnog' and they were both so good I had a hard time choosing, in the end I went with the eggnog. SO GOOD. 100% the best vegan ice cream I've ever had. And they give you a very generous portion so no need to get a large.

Salt and straw has committed to a higher proportion of their menu being vegan in 2019. It’s now the best option for vegan ice cream, just by number of flavors, wherever they exist. Also? It’s really freaking good.
