Best vegan fried chicken - Edit
We ordered the vegan fried chicken and eel. It was some of the best vegan meat that I've ever tried. The staff is extremely friendly as well and we had an awesome experience. Must try if you are in Tokyo, I would definitely come again!

Just spectacular - Edit
I was surprised to see any restaurant with 52 reviews and a 5-star rating, but it is well deserved. We ordered the yakisoba and mapo -tofu. Our meal was a set and started with a delicious Smokey bean and lentil salad, with a broccoli mochi, it was sooo yummy! It was served on a glass plate with a dome over it, in which the smoke was trapped. Just opening the dome was an experience! This was served with a little miso style soup, which was mild, earth and fresh.
Read moreThen the main course, OMG, the presentation alone was amazing and was only enhanced by the tasty flavours. Both dishes were delicious and the vegetables were so fresh! I think they might be home grown!
The service was wonderful too, our waitress had a constant smile and was extremely patient with our terrible Japanese!
A wonderful experience of hospitality on all levels, a must see stop for all vegans, vegetarians or just people in general, who are visiting beautiful Jiyugaoka!

Holy (happy) cow!!! This place ❤️❤️ - Edit
This is definitely top of the list of must-go restaurants in Tokyo! I can’t believe how beautiful this place, their food, their presentation, and the wonderful owners are! They go above and beyond with their presentation of traditional Japanese food. There is so much love in their preparation! I 100% recommend Saido and their vegan unagi is PERFECT!!

Delightful experience - Edit
I was in Jiyugaoka and torn between which vegan restaurant to go to but I am so happy I chose Saido! The staff are very friendly and the food is great fun to eat besides being tasty! Presentation is of Heston Blumenthal standard and yet the lunchtime set menu is very good value for money. I had the fake eel and definitely will come back to try the noodles or katsudon. Also had the cheesecake dessert which was super cute and delicious! Oh and everything is vegan!

Combining modern and traditional - Edit
This restaurant is very cool. All the dishes themselves where a piece of art. The staff was extremely helpful and lovely. We had the “eel” and “cutlet” and it was very tasty. However, the best of the best was the dessert. Do not miss the blueberry cheesecake and strawberry sorbet! It was the best cheesecake I’ve ever had! Amazing!

Amazing food, amazing presentation, and very friendly staff. - Edit
First, I showed up a bit before they opened. As I started to walk away, someone opened the door and invited me in early.
Read moreI ordered the eel bowl, but first they brought me soup and salad. And what a salad! It was a combination of beans, greens, and barley that was smoked IN CHERRY BLOSSOM SMOKE.
Then came the eel. Eel was one of my favourite foods before going vegan and I honestly never expected to have it again. I'm very glad I did. It was sweet, smoky, and had just a touch of "sea" flavour - just like real eel.
Definitely check this place out if you're in Tokyo.

Vegan food made with heart - Edit
It’s very rare to find a place that serves vegan food, and this place serves vegan fare with heart. We had the eel, ramen and blueberry cheesecake, and we could taste the effort that went into creating these dishes. Definitely recommended, English and Chinese menus available as well.

Super good, amazing staff - Edit
Lovely place. The building is fully covered in plants. It looks lovely and peaceful. The food is inspired on traditional Japanese dishes. It tastes magnificent. The vegan yakitori was better than the real thing (as far as I can remember anyway lol). There was a home made fake hard boiled egg on the soba which was so much like egg it could have fooled most omni’s.
Read moreBest part is the super friendly staff though. I initially showed up on a day that the restaurant is closed. The staff was just coming out and they handed me a coupon and a gift of their own brand of instant ramen. Of course I wanted to come back. When I returned on a later day the friendliness and hospitality continued. It was a lovely experience.
Pros: Vegan versions of Japanese dishes, Lovely staff, High quality

Delicious Food, and Hospitable Service - Edit
What a wonderful experience. Not only did the owners let me in to the restaurant past their last order time, but they gave me a discount. In terms of hospitality, I was very impressed!
Read moreThe food, while being somewhat small portions, was delicious. The Tofu Skin appetizer had a very nice flaky pastry, and the Yakitori was a very nice balance of sweet and salty flavors. As the final course, the Yakisoba was really great as well, being garnished nicely.
The only reason I'm docking them is because of small portion sizes (of the appetizers paricularily) but otherwise this was an amazing find. Would reccomend.
Pros: All Vegan, Nice Presentation, Lovely Hospitability
Cons: Small Portions for the Price

Super good all-vegan Japanese food at very reasonable prices. The ingredients are varied and excellent. The flavors the chef creates are amazing. The selection of vegan sake is outstanding. I’ve been vegan in Tokyo for 4 years and this is the best flavor for value I’ve found. Highly recommended.
