I fell in looooovvee with the Greek Goddess bowl here on a recent trip to Newport. This place is very conveniently located which made it easy to park, stop in for lunch, and explore the area. Great vibe inside, nicely decorated. Signed a sheet at the front counter for Covid contact tracing which I was happy to do. Would have loved to be in town longer to try even more of their menu. I loved that such healthy food could be so freakin' delicious!

Classic Vegan Smoothie Shop - Edit
This is a very typical vegan smoothie bar offering buddha bowls, smoothies, avocado toast, etc. Overall unexciting and pretty overpriced (smoothies are 9$, buddha bowls 12$, one piece of toast 6-9$). We got a breakfast sandwich special, white bean toast, and eastern bowl-pretty good. Portion sizes were fair. Coffee was okay, 6$ for a medium coffee special. They offer some baked goods at the counter which looked pretty good. This is one of the only vegan options in Newport unfortunately. I think this is a missed opportunity to serve some really creative vegan food. The restaurant was clean and the staff were very friendly. I’d recommend coming for breakfast or lunch.

Had the breakfast sandwich with Just egg, cheese, avocado, and bacon bits on an English muffin plus the Flamingo smoothie. Both were fantastic. Smoothie took a lot longer to come out than the sandwich. Interior space is small, and customers are not making a great effort at social distancing or keeping masks on, which during coronavirus summer is a concern. Staff also had masks pulled down below their noses. I waited outside for food to be ready.

Amazing Plant-based Cafe! - Edit
This cafe has the best plant-based menu. I’m in town for two weeks of training and have visited four times so far. The Arriba! Arriba! Bowl is absolutely delicious. But I was blown away by the coconut BLT and chickpea salad sandwiches. Perfection. Lots of smoothies and breakfast bowls available, as well as delicious hot and cold drinks, including an iced caramel chocolate oat-based nitro coffee and “dreamer” which has lavender. Since I don’t drink coffee, they made it with just oat milk. Very accommodating owner and staff. They have veggie puffs snacks to accompany your meal, as well as sweet baked goods like rocky road brownies and strawberry oat bars. Both are drool worthy. (They also offer a military discount.). Can’t recommend this place enough!

What a treasure Root is! Located along the hip, locals-friendly Broadway, it’s in a perfect spot for all to find. The staff is super friendly, the menu is sizable and creative, and the place is very clean. Can’t wait to go back!

We wanted to grab take out and they stayed open for us to grab dinner. Have tried all of the dinner bowls and they are so lovely! My parents love grabbing food here before long road trips and have never gone wrong! So nice to have a place like Root in Newport.

I found Root through this app and I’m so glad I’ve found it!! It’s on broadway so not where all the tourists visit and you have a great crowd of locals/workers from the area. The food is very filling and yummy, and uses everyday veggies in their own unique way! They serve nitro cold brew and matcha. The staff is very friendly, striking up conversation with every customer and being genuinely thankful for you coming by for lunch. They are new and trying to get their name out there but becoming busier and busier. The staffs kindness and their yummy food make it hard to stay away for too long

Great Food, Wonderful Smoothies and Kind owner! - Edit
We stopped in to Root after we visited a friend in Newport who recommended it. We were not disappointed. We got the lentil Shepard's pie, Green with Envy, The Awakening, and chickpea sandwich. So Delicious! The Owner talked with us a little to make sure the food was good and told us they were new. We would definitely stop there again when we're in the neighborhood!
