Plant Based Goodness - Edit
1st time here. Street parking available where you can find it. Indoor seating available. Counter service. Fairly small menu but when done right, you don’t need many options. Super friendly and grateful service - they said thank you for choosing us many times. I had their avocado toast which was nice and crispy. I also had their breakfast sandwich with coving bacon and tomato. It was delicious. Would definitely come back

Solid vegan cafe food - Edit
Although the menu is small, it is solid and healthy, and the people are super. Everything we had was delicious and satisfying. Sadly the kale Caesar isn’t available anymore because they can’t get the dressing…

Good find - Edit
The staff and owner are super nice and always happy to welcome you. It's one of the few places with an entirely plant-based menu in a prime location. The food is tasty. We like the bowls and breakfast sandwich. Its toasty inside seating and also some outdoor tables.

Pleasant all-vegan cafe - Edit
We stopped in here several times over the course of our stay here when staying at a nearby hotel with no vegan breakfast options.
Read moreKnockout items included the matcha lavender latte and the basil-and-blackberry fauxcotta breakfast toast. I was also happy with the ciao bella, which includes a form of vegan mozz I haven't seen before ("Barrett's Garden..."). A tapioca-and-cashew based cheese that's not especially funky or fermented tasting, and more resembles a grainy cousin to silken tofu. I would say the red onions are cut unpleasantly chunky and (I think) not watered / de-sulfured as I'd do at home.
The frozen cocoa bowl was a bit like eating a giant bowl of baby food, in a good way (mostly). The breakfast sandwich was a pretty no-frills item I would probably not order if I had a kitchen of my own here.
The lack of bathroom ("no public restroom" means NO RESTROOM in this area!) almost did me dirty!!! Plan ahead!

Grateful for this place! - Edit
Newport has always seemed like a vegan food desert, especially compared to Providence (or even Middletown). This cafe finally brings a much needed vegan food option to the center of town, the location can’t be beat. I am not usually a smoothie person but I had “The Awakening” and it was amazing and just what I needed!

Whatever you order is good, wish there was a little more variety. But really good location, yummy, and quick.

for what they’re going for (clean and quick) they’ve definitely got all of the boxes checked. it would be nice if they rotated their very small menu around though.

Root in Rhode Island - Edit
Husband and I were on a walkabout around Newport when he mentioned he was hungry. Thank God for HappyCow! Found “Root” was only 8-minutes away.
Read moreWe settled on the Grain Bowls. He got the Arriba bowl, with quinoa, and I settled on the Greek bowl, with brown rice. Best part was we got halfway through each and exchanged bowls. The flavors in both were great and not overly filling. Of the two we both liked the Greek bowl simply for the larger variety of flavors.
Definitely worth having if in town!

Eat here!! Eat here!! - Edit
I ate here every day on a 3-day trip, one day ate twice, AND picked up an oatmeal for the next day early drive. Seriously the nicest team and such great food! Can personally vouch for the açaí bowl, oatmeal, coconut blt (!!!), chickpea salad sandwich, jackfruit bbq, “fauxcotta” berry toast, and their deserts! I personally wasn’t a fan of the flavored coffee/tea drinks as the flavor syrup ends up at the bottom of iced, but non flavored latte and matcha latte were good.

All Vegan Menu with Diverse Choices - Edit
Owner was very attentive and interested in our satisfaction with the meal and experience. My husband and I split the Arriba Bowl and the Chickpea Salad Sandwich, both were tasty. They emply the whole food plant based concept by using whole and fresh ingredients instead of processed vegan options. Nice to have a full vegan restaurant where you don't have to ask about each ingredient!!
