Good spot to try

I love having a fully vegan restaurant close by. I got the Philly and Animal Fries. The food was OKAY, nothing great; needs more flavor. The owner was a big help with explaining the menu. I would recommend and plan to eat here again.

Pros: Fully Vegan Restaurant, Great Customer Service, Large Menu

Cons: Food Needs More Flavor

The dish I ordered was ok

I got take-out here in December 2021. I ordered the Beyond Meatball Sandwich, and it was just okay. It was underwhelming. Something with the texture and just how it tasted. It didn't hit like I thought it would hit. When visiting again, I will try other items because other reviews look amazing!

Fantastic in Every Way

I don’t live in Anchorage, but try to stop by Preference when I’m in town. Everything about this place is amazing. The Reuben Sandwich is so good that it’s hard for me to try anything new. The owner Dan is so incredibly nice and enthusiastic about what he is making. He wasn’t only nice to me, I saw him interacting with other customers and treating everyone like a valued member of the community. Alaska is lucky to have Preference.

I would also like to mention that I feel like Preference has something delicious for everyone, and no one would be disappointed by a meal there.

Pros: Impressive Menu, Friendly and clean atmosphere , New seasonal specials

Cons: I have no criticism

Great but skip wyngs

Philly's were great, animal fries as well, but we didn't like wyngs, neither texture (doesn't resemble chicken) nor taste (bbq - too acidic, dry - tasteless).

Great Vegan Joint

We were visiting Anchorage, and went to this place several times because the food was awesome and the owner and staff were so sweet. Although everything was good, my favorites were the animal fries (I added grilled mushrooms to mine) and the double cheeseburger. Mouthwateringly delicious.

Pros: Great food, all vegan, Really nice owner and staff

Off the Charts - Outrageous! 🚀❤️🙏

Incredible Vegan American Diner Food.

Easily the best burger I've had anywhere. Sheer hedonic enjoyment for the appetitive vegan. My burger was like a gift from the grill gods. I usually balk at beyond meat, but it didn't matter the patty could have been cardboard; the fixings were stupendous. The homemade organic ranch dressing, the panko crusted jalapeno, the lettuce, tomato, onions. Simply, the best drive-in style Americana turned vegan short order, quick serve meal in the Americas. Went for a side of fries with buffalo chicken and ranch too which boosted the flavor to the moon. I can't find the words to express how satisfying this meal was.

This may seem like it's junk food, but it's not. It's pure gold.

Special thanks to friendly, dedicated vegan owner who operates the PETA awarded compassionate business and performs daily activism with this solid evidence that any food can be vegan. I suspect I am soon to succumb to the irresistible urge to eat here every day, three or maybe four times a day.

Reasonable prices, cholula hot sauce, and a safe, warm dining room.

Pros: vegan owned and operated, insanely delicious, friendly service

Alaska is on the map!

Chef Dan has opened Alaska’s first and only vegan restaurant! It’s a great diner-style spot with a huge menu for both vegans and meat eaters alike. Make sure to check it out!

Just Wow!

I’d heard about the vegan food wagon that became a restaurant - it took me a while to track it down because I didn’t know the name. I finally found it on Boniface Road right before the Glenn Highway on-ramp. It’s sort of like vegan deli nirvana - it has all the sandwiches you might find there, but totally vegan! I had the gyro with onion rings & my husband had a sub with French fries. It was so great to have a gyro again - oddly it was one of the few non-vegan foods I missed! Both the sandwiches tasted very much like I remember as a non-vegan, but most importantly, it tastes great now. The onion rings were handmade fresh and very tasty.
I live in Mat-Su valley and don’t get to Anchorage very much. Preference is situated a block away from the off-on ramp for the Glenn Hwy. so it couldn’t be more handy for commuters from the valley. The owner said he did this on purpose so people from the valley could easily stop in on their way to and from home. It’s in the Papa John’s building.

Awesome menu, amazing taste, fantastic owner. Gf is vegan and I’m not but this place slaps. Everything they have is awesome. If you’re looking for Whole Foods TM style or just plain vegetables and fruits this isn’t for you. This is a food truck style vegan joint that aims at making delicious comfort foods and they knock it out of the park every time! Would give more stars if I was allowed.

Pros: Full vegan, Only tree nuts is Almonds, Fantastic staff.

Cons: None , Zip, Nada

Vegan on East Side

I was pleased, after being away for a bit, that this restaurant opened locally on this side of town. They have a lot of "comfort foods" that one would associate with eating animal products so it is geared toward that population as well as the vegan. Great staff, plenty of seating, and food that might fulfill the cravings you are having. I'd recommend it to carnivores and vegans alike.

So many options!

It was a real treat to find an all-vegan restaurant anywhere in Alaska this summer. A huge menu of tasty and filling comfort-food. Friendly owner. Enough said. Go there!

Vegan but still not healthy

I appreciate the fully vegan menu but most options were what I would characterize as junk food vegan. If you have a hankering for a meatball sub, you can get a vegan sub to appease you, but don’t go here if you are looking for whole food plant based options.

07 Mar 2023

I agree. I was so excited that they are here but the only vegetables were lettuce, tomatoes and onions on processed, junk food fake meat. I didn’t even find vegetables to eat.

Truly, but as far as junk food goes, the sauces are organic and made from scratch and so dang good. There's new healthier options on the menu but I would be hard pressed to pass up the good stuff. Simply, this is a place for a real treat. 🤤

Nice to have a broad selection

Everything here is vegan, which is great when you walk in and realize you can get anything from burgers to wings to cheesesteaks. We split a Rueben, animal style fries, and wings. The animal style fries were great (would not get plain fries — needs more flavor). The Rueben wasn’t super fancy but it honestly nailed the reasonable sandwich niche and tasted great. We split the wings between a hot buffalo and Asian style sauce. Both sauces were great. My wife thought the wings were a bit too moist, but I enjoyed them at lunch and even more as leftovers. I would definitely come back here.

Delicious, large menu!

This may be the only vegan restaurant in Alaska, but at least it's awesome! I'd go here if they had it where I live.

There were a lot of options on the menu. It seems like there have been even more different options in the past. I'd check their Instragram if you want to make sure you're seeing the latest menu, Everything I had was really delicious. Especially the mock "chicken" they use for the wings and other dishes, I was told they make it in-house. YUM!

This is NOT a food truck any longer. There are maybe five or so tables inside, so not a huge space, but there were enough open tables when we went. They seem to do a lot of carry out.

Pros: Large menu, In-person dining or carry out
