Is it really Junk food? - Edit
Nestled within the Chiado district, Plant Base presents a concealed entrance that may easily be overlooked, as I initially did. However, upon entering, a remarkable transformation occurs. The interior is spacious and features two distinct dining areas: one situated near the entrance and the other situated around the corner, adjacent to the bar.
Read moreWhile the description of Plant Base suggests that it serves “junk food,” I strongly disagree. The culinary offerings here are exceptional. I have visited Plant Base twice within a week, and each time, I have been pleasantly surprised.
On my first visit, I indulged in The Special Burger, a delectable creation featuring a Beyond Burger patty, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, fried onions, tomatoes, cucumber pickles, and sriracha mayonnaise, all nestled on a red onion bun.
On my second visit, I opted for the JHOL MOMO, a culinary masterpiece consisting of steamed Himalayan Momos immersed in a delectable tomato curry, complemented by red onions and cilantro.
In my opinion, I have discovered my favorite Plant Base dish. The JHOL MOMO boasts a harmonious blend of flavors, with a touch of heat that resonated with my preferences. Its deep, rich taste left me thoroughly satisfied.

This place was excellent. Specifically the seitan tacos. So utterly yummy that we went twice. But we also had Mac and cheese and garlic bread, and wine!

We had chickpea tacos which was not great...and a classic beyond meat burger which was actually very tasty.

The whole place had 'fast food/ snack' type vibe.. uncomfortable seats and walls covered in plastic imitation leaves/greenery....

Awesome Sangria and Burgers - Edit
We had a white sangria each and a burger (special burger and vacon burger) and it was very delicious. You get fries with those burgers and those fries couldn’t be more perfect. Also it’s a very nice atmosphere in the restaurant

I had a hot dog with fries. They use Beyond Meat sausages, along with pickles, crispy fried onions, and sauce. The fries were crispy and tasty.

I had a very disappointing experience here. I ordered a pizza and the crust and bottom were burnt — not only unpleasant to eat, but also not exactly healthy. I left the crust, but the bottom was still overcooked and tasted bitter.
Read moreThen I tried the mango ice cream, hoping it would be better, but it was basically frozen solid with ice crystals, like eating snow, not creamy at all.
Moreover, cleanliness is not great — the wooden table was sticky, and mine even had a long hair on it.

Plant base has a widespread menu to make everyone happy. We can really recommend the momos and the „ring of fire“. Although it sounds dangerous, it was only slightly spicy. Very big portions!

Very nice vegan Restaurant - Edit
We had the loaded Nachos as appetizers, an easy 5/5. For mains my GF had the chickpea tacos. They were extremely well prepared, spice levels were on point! I had the "Prego", which admittedly was not very visually appealing. Buns were freshly toasted though, and Beyond patty was properly grilled and tasty.

Out with a family of 5, got a selection of burgers, mushroom pizza, nachos, onion rings, and garlic bread as well as cocktails, all of which were great. Finished with a tirimisu and passionfruit ice cream. Portions were massive and had to get takeaway boxes. The only letdown was that they were out of momos on the day we visited.

Super tasty onion rings! The Mac and cheese was nice but it was more like a vegetable sauce than cheese. It was still really good though. The burger was nice as well. Typical of what you’d expect. The pesto pizza was okay but it was a bit too salty for me personally and the crust was thin and a bit disappointing. Overall a great place for food. The service was prompt and friendly.

Amazing food, so much choice, and big portions too (my photo shows 5 snacks / starters which we ordered between 3 hungry adults - way too much food for us all, and we were so sad to not finish it as it was delicious). Very lovely sweet friendly staff with excellent English. Really great place (worth the epic climb up steps and cobbled streets haha).

Fantastic - Great food, and inexpensive - Edit
Ate dinner here. Got the nachos (fantastic) and the chick pea tacos (slightly spicy but very tasty, filling and nourishing) - nothing junk foody about the tacos. It is a proper dinner ! Even the nachos were far better (much less fat) than what I am used to in the US !
