Delicious, High Quality Food with a Beautiful Presentation - Edit
This is a favorite stop of mine when in Asheville. The food is always delicious and presented beautifully. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I have Celiac disease and ask questions and they always happily (and truthfully) answer questions about ingredients. I always feel safe dining with them. They make a homemade gluten free bread that is the best bread that I have ever tasted, hands down. I even bought a loaf during my last visit.
Read moreI am always amazed by their creativity and presentation of food. The cheese plate is a favorite of mine and is presented beautifully, almost too beautifully to eat...almost. The cheese is made in-house and paired with peaches, bread, greens, and zucchini.
The list of appetizers, entrees, and desserts is enough to satisfy any foodie or foodie at heart. If you live in Asheville, you are lucky to have this place at your disposal any time you are in the mood for amazing food. If you are visiting, make sure you visit and go hungry because you will want to order one of everything!
Pros: Excellent food and ingredients, Friendly staff, Wonderful atmosphere
Cons: It is pricey, but worth it! The food is great!

Phenomenal cuisine - Edit
I liked everything about Plant. I love that the menu is small and you can tell the chef puts a lot of hard work into making sure each dish is wonderful. The food is outstanding, best advice is to get a bunch of different things and share them with the table so you can try it all. You must make a reservation.

Everything is phenomenal here! I love the beets, cheese plate, ravioli, the mole, I mean I could go on and on! The desserts are also fantastic! Try the peanut butter cheesecake if it’s on the menu that night! They also have a great wine and cocktail menu.😄

Best of Asheville - Edit
I was in Asheville for a couple of days and after my first nights dinner at Plant, I knew I had to make a reservation for the very next night. Here’s a breakdown of the dishes I had:
Read moreStarters
Cauliflower: incredible cauliflower dish in a creamy tahini sauce.
Grilled Beets: delicious baked, then grilled beats accompanied by a horseradish mayo that pairs beautifully. This dish pairs very well with the cauliflower.
BBQ Brussels Tostadas: the only thing at Plant I wouldn’t really recommend. Though there were some interesting flavors, it was hard to eat served on large tortilla chips, making it hard to get a combination of flavors at once.
Ravioli: a starter that can be served as a main dish. The flavors are absolutely incredible with a complex sauce that I loved.
Cheese Plate: delicious assortment of their own fermented cheeses and bread, served with an assortment of fruits and veggies. A definite recommend for cheese lovers.
Mains
Crusted Seitan Marsala: another delicious dish with an amazing balance of flavors and a nice tender seitan.
The Curry: a nicely balanced and interesting take on green curry. I enjoyed it, particularly their unique take on the rice portion featuring a risotto-type rice ball. Overall I still prefer the more traditional take on green curries I’ve had in South East Asia, but appreciate their unique approach.
Dessert
Peanut Butter Cheesecake: a delicious take on a cheesecake with the peanut butter flavor pairing beautifully with the soy-based filling.
Brownie: a crispy yet chewy brownie topped with their special maple ice cream. Both are phenomenal.
Overall, I couldn’t recommend this place more! A must visit!

We celebrated our anniversary at Plant! It was perfect. The complexity of the food was amazingly delicious. I had the seitan Marsala and my husband had the mole. It is so nice to go to a place where we don’t need to worry about contamination- everything on the menu is vegan! Highly recommend.

I had the pleasure of trying Plant tonight. I was absolutely outstanding! We had the ravioli, the cheese board, the potatoes and peanut butter cheesecake. All were wonderful but the ravioli was easily one of my all time favorite dishes. Each dish was unique and bursting with flavor. The cheeses were so creamy and satisfying. This is a must for all vegans. Definitely make reservations a few days before.

Very few tables, and you’ll probably need to make reservations. It’s worth it though, as the food is delicious. I had the Ravioli and also the Seitan Marsala and both were fantastic! Small selection of NA drinks, larger selection of alcoholic beverages.

Casually Elegant - Edit
Was thrilled they lived up to their reputation! TThe open kitchen design allowed me to see firsthand their fresh Al minute approach as I ordered a ravioli starter and got to watch a line chef feed fresh sheets of pasta through the roller. Each dish was pretty magical but the cheese plate had my heart and made me wish I wasn’t sharing 😂 The dishes were beautifully plated, elegant and not overly fussy. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere clean and airy.

Oh dear lawd! Pure heaven! - Edit
We have traveled around the world trying incredible vegan restaurants, and this gem was in our own state. EVERYTHING was perfect! EVERYTHING! The food, the service, the food, the atmosphere, the staff, the food! We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the magic happen. What a well-oiled machine! As the cooks were preparing the food, we saw staff members making sure that all of the surfaces stayed clean. The owner was working alongside everyone and was making sure that everything was going smoothly and that everyone was happy. At one point he took an ice cream that they weren’t going to sell and made it into milkshakes for the entire staff. Each staff member got to stop for a moment to enjoy their shake. We enjoyed watching one of the cooks enjoy his shake, and after he took a sip, we read his lips as he smiled, and said, “My goodness!” We chatted briefly with the owner and some of the staff members, and they were all so nice and obviously like what they do. Our server was fun and skillfully helped us to choose our order. After each course, she brought us compostable to-go boxes so that we could take home enough for a meal the next day. We started with the cheese plate, and oh my goodness! Incredible, and I make homemade cheeses! We had a cauliflower dish, a roasted beet dish, a ravioli dish, and then a main dish with mole. We were trying to decide which was our favorite, and we really couldn’t choose because they were all so good! We don’t normally get dessert, but we did get the matcha crème brûlée, and it was outstanding! Even my drink was delicious! I had one of their homemade basil lime sodas. Overall, this is one of our absolute favorite restaurants!

Elevated vegan dinner - Edit
We were so excited to be able to visit Plant again - dog in tow - now that they offer reservations on the enclosed patio. My partner and I split the toast, grilled beets, seitan marsala, and peanut butter chocolate cheesecake. The food was excellent, and the "Wine Wednesday" special for 50% off bottles was enticing. The food is definitely a fine dining level of excellence, and thus, amazing quality for the price point.
Read moreI do think the initial guest experience could be improved upon, especially since this feels like what could be a special occasion spot for many. Despite a weeknight reservation and arriving 5 min early, we were not seated for 15-20 minutes as a result of an out-the-door line. I felt for the hostess, who was scrambling to seat parties with reservations as well as walk-ins; one couple seemed to leave in a huff after waiting for awhile. It was very loud inside, which added to the frazzle. Thankfully, the patio was serene with attentive service.
That said, I am thrilled that a 100% vegan restaurant is doing so well, and we look forward to dining outside again in the future.

Delicious food, skip the dessert - Edit
We ate here for dinner, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. They have small plates/tapas as well as larger entrees. The food was a bit on the expensive side, but not any more than you’d expect for a more upscale restaurant. Our desserts were not very sweet and nowhere near as good as the rest of our food, so I wouldn’t recommend dessert unless you don’t like it very sweet.

Ravioli - so creamy, mushroom flavor really came through
The curry - not spicy at all but so many different flavors and textures

Edit - second visit update!
Toast - tasty variation on a bruschetta
Cheese plate - yummy! Though to me, cashew cheese all taste fairly similar
Mushroom mole - excellent
