Great vegan options to eat in or take away

Perfect place to grab a quick bite or something to take away. Lots of vegan options-both hot and cold- and lots of desserts.

Planet Organic

I think of Planet Organic as Whole Foods' little cousin. Planet Organic's locations are not huge, but they are a decent/medium size and are bursting with vegan options, including local products and those from abroad that you might not find at Whole Foods (which is a bonus!). My favorite things to pick up here include the artisanal vegan cheeses, Clean Bean Tofu (the tastiest tofu brand), Oatly, packaged grains, etc. They have takeaway food in the cooler that's quite convenient too as well as vegan croissants (though, I've had better elsewhere). I also love the wellness and vitamin sections. Overall, Plant Organic offer a great balance of products.

Always a great buffet

I’ve stopped here for lunch many, many times. The buffet always has plenty of delicious vegan options, and although I tend to order the same few things, I usually try a new dish occasionally. It’s not self-served, but the staff do try their best to fit as much as you want in.

Pros: Fresh food, All food is clearly labelled, Lots of vegan options

Cons: A bit expensive, Queues can be long at lunch time

Laura’s Idea stockist

Thrilled to find Laura’s idea sandwiches and salads as well as vegan Mac and cheese when I visited. Lots of tofu and other meat alternatives too and there was a seating area at the back to eat your food.

great shop

Small supermarket which has most things you would need for your household.
Plenty of non dairy and meat alternatives and a great selection of organic produce.
My only issue is it's bloody expensive, I appreciate it's in London, but wow.

Pros: loads of vegan, Organic

Good amount of vegan options

I come here to grab lunch at least once a week as it is down the road from my university. It has great very convenient vegan takeaway food (wraps, sushi, soup, anything you can imagine), desserts, vegan cheeses, vegan "meat" etc. Some of it is a bit expensive but it's because a lot of it is bought from independent suppliers. Wish they provided wooden instead of plastic cutlery!

Pros: Well located, Lots of vegan lunch options

Cons: No cons!

Perfect for students 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓

Wonderful location and amazing staff!!! I went to this branch every single day for 2 weeks when I was on campus to study for my assessments. More than a satisfactory experience each time. The only thing I would suggest, is to increase promotions as well as the variety of what is being promoted 🌱💘

Pros: variety of food, student discount , superfood coffee

Cons: pricey

Vegan shoppers dream

Love this place for picking up unusual ingredients and new ideas for vegan cooking. Less daunting than Whole Foods as the items on offer seem more select.

Pros: So much choice, Unusual items

Now stocking Tofurky slices!

Friendly staff, a fair selection of vegan option, and a popular salad bar with hot and cold foods. There's a cafe in the back too. Worth popping into if you're around this part of town.

recent upgrade on target

I've long been a fan of Planet Organic and today when I visited this branch I was very impressed by the expanded new counter set up, improved recipes (much tastier than before - the enchilada stack was so good I wanted a whole box full) and renovated seating area. Most of the counter dishes you can pick from are vegan and healthy, and there are some creative raw options like courgette 'zoodles' with hazelnuts and pad Thai salad. They also have prepped salads and sandwiches including Raw Ecstasy (mmmm) and Laura's Idea. The store is very good if money is no object. Their own line of raw food groceries is creatively designed and what I've tried has all been great tasting. But, apart from the store made takeaway food, which is priced ok for organic, everything is more expensive than elsewhere, especially the small range of fruit and veg.

Pros: great for healthy vegan fast food, now well designed and comfortable, good range of non caffeine hot drinks

Cons: expensive, has meat

always returning.......

We absolutely love this place. It's like a raw and vegans stock cupboard dream! They sell the Raw Sandwiches here which are amazing, and I have been known to make my hubby purchase one to bring home to me :)

This shop has everything really, food, stock cupboard bits, vegan books, hair and make up - all the normal health food items as well as selling fresh produce and soups, take away foods, definitely worth a visit :)

Great lunch buffet

planet organic is more than a health food store. It offers an excellent lunch time buffet: a wide range of tasty hot and cold options. I always go there when in London. there is a lathe and comfortable seating area as well, so you are not forced to take away. Good use of herbs and spices, so food is not bland and boring, but also has a good range of textures.

Pros: Hot and cold buffet, Good indoor seating option, Central location

Cons: Not open for dinner!

Great for those vegan buys you cant find anywhere

I've been here a few times now. I was looking for vegan squirty cream and found it here. Great choice of everything, specially vegan sweets and chocolate which can be hard to find. The hot food is great and a good price- £6.50 for a medium box of take away and the vegan banana and walnut muffins are addictive! Also the Tofu sandwich is great for a quick snack on the go. :)
The only problem I had was when I asked if the hot chocolate can be made vegan, I was told it could but then saw when it was being made that the hot chocolate itself was not vegan, I got a full refund though but if I hadnt had double checked then I would have consumed a non vegan drink. They need to clearly label this on their hot drinks.

Vegan heaven

I went there because it was the closest organic supermarket to my hotel. Compared to organic supermarkets in Germany and Austria this place felt like a vegan heaven to me: everything vegan is clearly marked as such. Maybe that's nothing special in England (I don't know) but for me it was wonderful. I love it!

Pros: clearly marked vegan items, excellent vegan assortment

my favourite place for lunch in all of London

I eat here almost every day, as it is right by my work. The hot food to go section is delicious, and has over 30 different vegetarian options every day, including lasagne, salads, stir fry, curry, rice, dahl, roast vegies and much more! You can choose as many different options as you like.
It is also a fairly sizable supermarket with organic foods, which is a bit pricey, but you can get a lot here that you can't get anywhere else.
You can also get packaged meals and sandwiches etc., these include non-vege options for carnivorous friends.
Everything is organic and clearly labelled for vege, vegan, gluten-free etc.

Pros: delicious, huge range, healthy

Cons: not cheap

Great food bar with loads of sweets too

The grocery store part is toward the back as you go straight ahead at the entrance. To the right is the food bar and sitting area is next to the front windows. To the left is the fridge with takeaway options like baguettes.

The grocery store is fairly comprehensive with all areas covered including cleaning products and skincare.
The food bar is quite extensive with savory options which you can choose from ranging from stews and cooked vegetables to salads. What I have had has been decent and quite freshly made. The cake and slice section is equally extensive and looks very tempting with vegan options labelled. I have yet to try anything from this section yet.
They use disposable plates and cutlery made from wood fibre materials. It's environmentally probably better to wash and reuse plates and cutlery.

Service is fine.

Groceries from this store are possibly a little bit more expensive than some other stores.
The food bar is quite reasonably priced.

This is a strong four and a half stars

Pros: Food bar -food, -well priced

Cons: grocery section poss bit expensive, disposable plates, cultlery

Good lunchtime break

I go about once every week to stock up on groceries at lunchtime or take away a hot vegetarian meal or salad box from the counter. Choices include lasagne, seitan stir-fry, chilli beans, broccoli and some kind of black bean stew. All food here is clearly marked vegetarian/vegan and by 1pm there is usually a queue of beautful people (apart from me) snaking all the way down to the organic veggies. They do smoothies and cakes too. (Although the counter stuff is veggie and there are loads of organic groceries, they do sell a little bit of meat and fish in the fridge section.)

Pros: Quick service, Relatively cheap, Huge selection

Cons: Gets busy

Healthy oasis

This is a great health food shop, focusing on organics. They sell great sandwiches, salads & drinks too - with a nice eat in area at the front. It gets very busy at lunchtimes.

Pros: Good selection, Great location

Cons: Gets busy, Can be pricy
