The service and food was mediocre

TLDR: There are several vegan options. The food was ok and the server was condescending.

The service unfortunately left a bad taste in my mouth. We were given regular menus, and I asked the waiter about the vegetarian menu I saw on their website. He provided them, but then said "just ask for it next time." He asked if we were going to have any wine, to which we answered no. He took away the wine glasses and drink menu. When we were ready to order, I asked if he had any recommendations for non-alcoholic drinks, and instead of answering the question, he said "we have a drink menu for that," and returned the drink menu.

The vegetarian menu indicates at the bottom that items labelled "Vg" can be made vegan. I ordered the fritters and the stuffed portobello and asked for them to be made vegan. He then said they aren't vegan. I pointed out the fine print at the bottom and he said "well, the fritters are fried in the same oil as the meat." I said I was fine with that. He responded "oh so you're not a real vegan. Vegans don't even take honey! I'll have to ask in the back if the stuffed portobello can be made vegan." I was not in the mood to have a conversation about how I care about increasing demand for vegan menu items more than cross contamination, and no, I do not consume honey either. I just nodded along.

I think the waiter should have instead said something like "the fritters are fried in the same fryer as the meat, are you ok with that?" Or just overall said less.

The vegan food items do not have any substitutions. They just don't include any cheese that the otherwise vegetarian menu item would have come with. The flavour was mediocre. The focaccia appetizer was room temperature, and I wish they heated it up.

I would not go to Piva again.

Pros: Nice interior, Several vegan options, Delicious non alcoholic beverage options

Cons: No vegan substitution, only ommits dairy, Flavour was just ok, Had a condescending server

Appreciate that they have vegan options

Had a good experience at this restaurant. They do not use vegan substitutions like cheese or faux meats, they just omit dairy/meat from their vegan dishes but they are still very tasty.

Pros: Good amount of vegan options , Good location, near transit!, Filling dishes

Cons: On the expensive side

Higher End nice pasta

Loved Piva. Found out be chance and was thrilled to find out it was so close to the Inn at the Quay.

Nice atmosphere and the pasta dishes were nice and had some protein which was nice. Very tasty, but would ask next time if they could go lighter on the oil. Really nice and ample sized home made berry sorbet was really nice too. Great sangria and perfect service.

Pros: Three pasta dishes (beyond just marinara), Good drinks, Great service

Cons: Should reserve a time in advance

Great place to go with non veg family/friends. Great atmosphere. Staff always knowledgeable of vegan and gluten free. Has a separate veg menu. The gluten free penne pasta was fantastic

Pros: Veg menu , Clear labels , Knowledgeable staff

Great atmosphere

A wonderful trendy Italian restaurant with wonderful service and a great atmosphere. The food was really good but the portions were on the small side and quite pricey. Extensive wine menu with lots of local wines.

Pros: Great atmosphere , Wonderful service, Separate vegetarian menu

Cons: Serves meat, Expensive
